Game of catch-up

Things have been crazy, as per usual. -Keira has some type of flu (probably from being stuck in the ER waiting room for so long with all of the sick people at CHEO) -Garett has a cough, but he is otherwise fine -On Saturday, we had a wine and cheese party at a friends place, and it was a lot of fun but I paid the price on Sunday. -On Sunday we lounged around and watched tv and played inside only. Tyler picked up some broadways for breakfast. All was calm. Shan came around 5:30 or so to watch the kids and we headed into town, got some waters and coffee and to the NAC for the Trailer Park Boys Christmas show. -The show was good, but was getting long by the end and I was happy to leave. -We got McDonald's on the way home and it was what I had been waiting all day for LOL -I had booked Monday off because of the late sunday night, and I'm glad I did. I was home with Keira anyways, but I also managed to finish my final research assignment for school and hand that in and also d...

Friday fun!

Thank God it's Friday, and that this week is O-V-E-R!!! -It was a stressful week at home. Looking forward to a fun weekend! -I am being audited for child care expenses in 2018--I'm not the only one that thinks we pay too much money in child care! LOL...I submitted my receipts online (they are catching up with the times and it's great!) and turns out I actually underclaimed by a few hundred dollars haha. -Tonight is calm, just hanging at home with the kids. -Saturday I have an eyelash appointment at 2:00, and then we have a sitter coming at 6:00 so we can go to a Wine & Cheese night up the road at our friends house. -Sunday is a day of rest until the evening when Shan comes over and we head into town to go to the Trailer Park Boys Christmas at the NAC (I bought Tyler and I tickets as an early Christmas gift). We are sitting pretty close, so I hope we don't get any of their nasty sweat on us lol -Monday I am off since the TPB thing only starts at 8PM, I didn...

Halloween weekend Recap

Image
Halloween, in its typical fashion was cold, damp and gloomy. The night before halloween, we carved our pumpkins. This year was the first we just threw out the seeds. We always clean and bake them and no one even eats them, so I saved myself the heartache this year. I worked from home the day of Halloween, and it was great! I had time to get the cups and plates and stuff set out and tidy up a bit. It was a wet halloween, but we just put rain gear and warm clothes under the kids costumes, and they had a great time collecting candy. I walked with them to a few houses and then went home to order pizza and have a glass of wine, and hand out candy to the EIGHT kids we got lol. The kids loaded into the back of my SUV with an adult and they drove from house to house, hopping out at each driveway. It seemed to work well. November 1 (Friday) was picture retake day for Garett (he was sick on picture day), and also preschool picture day- I can't wait to see their photos :)...

Hockey Games and Birthdays: A weekend recap

Image
Friday, I had booked the day off work. So I brought the kids to school/daycare, and went home until the house cleaner got there. I went into town and had some breakfast with Shannon and Everlea at Kozy Nest, and then we went and dad a bit of shopping at the mall (Aub44, Bath and Body Works, The Sens Store). I headed home after, grabbed a shower and did my hair/makeup and watched the guys building the new water feature in the yard. It's done now and tarped until the spring when they will finish. I picked the kids up around 2:45 (to avoid the dismissal bell at 3:00), and we headed home for a snack. The babysitter arrived around 3:45, so we headed out. We went to our friend's Jess and Jason's house (it was his birthday). Since he paid for the limo at the end of the night for our bachelor/bachelorette, we decided to return the favour and bought him and all our friends a ride to and from the sens game in a hummer stretch limo. It was a lot of fun :) At the ...

Philidelphia trip recap

Image
It was a whirlwind of a trip! We jammed it full of fun, and it was over as fast as it began, but I loved every minute of it!!  Friday, I had booked the day off work, so we packed up the truck and brought the kids to my parents place in Cornwall. We drove to Lansdowne and crossed over there. We drove straight until we hit Binghamton, NY. We met up with one of Tyler's friends that he has been gaming with for about 10 years, and he introduced us to Spiedie. This is a sandwich filled with cubed chicken breast or pork that has been marinated overnight in a vinegar and spice mixture. It was SO juicy and delicious. After we said our goodbyes,  we headed up the road to the Phelp's Museum. This was a mansion that was a glimpse into the gilded era. Mr. Phelp's was a judge, owned the water and gas companies, and was obviously extremely wealthy. The house was estimated at $14M to build in todays money ($140,000 back then). The staircase alone inside was $10,000 to build (equivale...
