200 blog post / 27 years

I wish I was exciting enough to post something wildly entertaining for my 200th post. Instead, I will share that some hack job nurse came to my house last night to take blood for my upgraded life insurance policy, and left with no blood in a vile, instead, I got gifted with blood soaked band aids (she failed numerous times to find a vein)... Thanks , sweetheart. This morning, Garett was on the receiving end of needles instead of mom and dad. He's good to go for shots until a year. His stats: 18 lbs 4 oz (25th percentile) 29 3/4 inches long (95th percentile) 18" head circumference (75th percentile) So, as you can see, fit as a fiddle :) We then proceeded to buy the entire store of Bonnie Toggs winter edition (not quite, but I got carried away all the same). After the women at the store were done drooling over his "big brown eyes", we left.  Ty was home pretty early after parting ways at the docs office. Lots of paperwork to catch up on though, so dinner prep has to wa...

Blog Un-spiration

I am feeling so uninspired lately. No ideas on what to blog about and not wanting to recap details of my daily grind. I have instead been enjoying time with my men. I only have about 3.5 months left of mat leave, and I plan to enjoy it :)  Instead of our date day today (cancelled due to the rain--will do it in October), we are staying in all cuddled up in blankets with yummy French toast for breakfast and catching up n breaking bad while Garett seems to want to nap all day. Tomorrow is a marathon of a month of baby food puree.  Hope you all are enjoying your weekend--see ya when I see ya!!

Lists...

Things here have been pretty mundane. Same old :) which is perfect!  Since I don't have much to write about, I have noticed my blog feed blowing up with everyone making this blog of lists, so I will follow suit:) 5 things I'll be doing over the next week: 1. Picking Ty up this afternoon, running some errands while the truck is in the garage getting one last thing done. 2. Going to Richmond Fair as a family tomorrow night--Ty is playing a 45 min set and then we will walk around :)  3. Saturday is our date day--stay tuned for that post 4. A visit from my parents at some point 5. Making another month of baby food on Sunday  Four items I need to purchase: 1. Groceries for Garett's next month of food 2. Tickets for our date day 3. Another baby gate so we have more extension pieces (darn extra side doorway!!) 4. More fall clothes--more specifically, all different colours of leggings. Lol Three shows I can't wait to have come back into my life: 1. Snooki and Jwoww  2. Grey...

Time is flying by...

How is it already Friday? How is Garett already approaching 8 months? I need to stop blinking because it seems like everytime my eyes close, it's a week later by the time the blink is over. In other news, Mother Nature hates us this week--nothing but storms and rain. I guess we got spoiled this summer with gorgeous sunny and warm weather, so we are paying for it now!  Last night was pretty calm. With the storms rolling through, we just had a simple chicken stir fry over a bed of baby spinach and kale and chopped up a plate of fruit to share while we watched TV. It's so sad to see Garett watch us eat. While he eats biscuits and puréed foods, he still seems to reach for our stuff. I can't wait until he's older and can participate in our meals so I don't feel so bad for him! Lol G man passed out super early last night, around 8 and so, I took advantage and took a nice bath, washed some bottles, put away some laundry and did some more loads. Pretty productive night! I c...

Recap

I've been blog slacking lately.  This weekend was a very exciting one for one of my closest friends/sister in law. My husband (her brother) and I got to stand beside her and her Mr. In their wedding party and take in the day with them. We were over at the maid of honours by noon, but the makeup and hair weren't there until after 2pm to get us ready.  The wedding/reception itself was nice, and then we went back to the hotel after. We got the bride and groom a room at the hotel as our gift so they didn't have to drive all the way across town to go home that night. Here's some pics :) I think they both had a great time, and that's what it is all about :) Sunday, we drove the, back to their car in Orleans and went out for a quick breakfast, dropped the tuxes off at Moores and headed home to meet our little dude:)  We spent the evening relaxing and ordered in dinner since we were both tired and didn't want to cook!  Monday was a blur (sorry) Tuesday, Ty was home for ...

Google search + parenting

Before I fully immersed myself into the world of all things mommy and baby, I didn't know much about the important stuff. 1)I liked babies 2) I wanted a baby and 3) I figured the rest would get learned along the way and fall into place--which is exactly how it is! Lol it's a learning process and I really do owe a lot of thanks to Google for that, because if it weren't for this glorious search engine, I would sometimes be lost of living at the doctors office. Here are a few things I have had to google since the birth of my G Dude. 1) is my baby constipated? Know why I resorted to google? Because telehealth is useless and won't tell you anything. What I learned from this is if you think your baby may be constipated, he/she probably is. When your gut is telling you something is wrong, it usually is. 2) how to get rid of cradle cap? Ok, I knew this was a common thing, I knew NOT to pick it and I knew it would go away on its own eventually, but Garett had a tiny piece on the...

What a beautiful day! A walk is definitely in order today, and Garett definitely has the energy for it hahah Last night Ty didn't get home until 6:30, so it was a later than usual dinner. We sat down to dinner with yet another Apple TV purchase: J. Edgar. A great movie, and very educational! Another must-see if that's your sort of thing :) For dessert, I saw this pin on Pinterest that was easy and yummy...just a s'more station! I used my food processor to make a graham cracker crumb mixture, melted some chocolate, broke out the marshmallows and creme brûlée torch to roast them and fondue forks...here is what it should look like This dessert will definitely be kid approved for movie night when g man is older (minus the torch :) ) so fun!  Garett fell asleep around 8:30, so we watched some TV in bed and went to sleep! I have a bunch of cleaning to do today and some errands to do when Ty gets home and t get out f the house baby-less for a bit.  Not much to catch up on today! H...

Hump day...

It seems like this week will never end already. It was tough leaving Garett for 2 nights in a row, and even tougher to get him back to his routine . I get the sneaky feeling he's not left to play quiet time by himself when he's at grandma and grandpas, so his "alone time" in his exersaucer has been pretty non existent these last few days. He literally screams crying if I leave the room for a second *facepalm. Dear Garett, please start being that independent boy I left on Saturday again :) (or at least for 20-30 mins a day) Since yesterday was our anniversary ,we decided to relax and enjoy each ourselves last night instead of worrying about a fully rounded dinner and such. When Ty got home, he finished up some accounting and phone calls and then we ordered a bunch of Chinese food--we got all of our staples and then ordered a few dishes we have never had before either since we were feeling pretty daring I guess lol--everything tasted pretty good:)  On e the Chinese food...

Long weekend / anniversary recap

Image
I apologize in advance for the length of this post :)  Friday night I spent mostly alone since Ty was out in Calabogie for a gig and got home in the wee hours. Saturday we were up bright and early cleaning and finishing up packing ourselves and Garett. Soon after, we were on the road to Cornwall to drop off G. Shortly after we dropped him off, we were on the road to Montreal. There was a ton of construction and long weekend traffic, but we made it without getting lost once (woo!). When we got to the hotel, that was it for our driving, we gave the valet our keys and walked/cabbed the rest of the time! Outside the hotel Pool in the hotel The room View of Maisonneuve/metcalfe from our window Room Shower Random shot from the bed The room was so nice--luxury linens, towels, everything. The mini bar and room service was a decent price oddly enough and we enjoyed our time spent in the room! Shortly after we checked in, we were heading out in the cab to old Montreal to go to La Garde Mange...
