Life lately...

Because I'm a bad blogger (and that's how I need to start all my posts now), I often don't have the time or energy to blog. Trust me when I say life is crazy (and fun). Sometimes we get some time to ourselves (and on the rare occasion I get some "me" time and things are even more heavenly. Between work, commuting, cooking, cleaning and playing hide and seek, there isn't too much time left. But sometimes I get to put on my big girl panties (I hate that word lol) and get classy. This weekend I wanted to do something different--have a dinner we wouldn't normally have, and something we couldn't get anywhere else. Fondue. That's right--straight out of the 70's dinner--except better fondue pots lol. We got three amazing fondue sets for our wedding and I always wanted to put them to use, Tyler's cousin and his girlfriend decided to come over, so I immediately ran to the store. For the oil fondue, we had chicken breasts and strip loin steaks to coo...

Dinner Planning 101

Image
My BIGGEST annoyance in life is to get up at 6AM, work all day, make it to the daycare by 4:20, get home, get Garett for a nap and then start dinner and clean up after dinner. Pretty much my daily routine gets in the way of all the snuggles and laughs I want to have, so I am constantly looking for easy peasy ways to change things up so I have more time with 2 of my 3 favourite men :)  Starting with meal planning. Since cooking dinner (a quick hearty, healthy dinner) on weeknights is not exactly my go-to recipe for fun (see what I did there?), I have started planning out my meals, so I don't have to worry about what to make for dinner as I answer emails and run around all day. BASKETS,people. Put them in your pantry and fill them up with the cupboard essentials (spices, etc that don't belong in the fridge, but do belong in your corresponding meal). Here is my coming weeks worth of meals : Linguine with Turkey and Carrot Ragu. YUM. Brushetta Chicken (in cas...

The art of letting go.

Every once in a while, the anti-hoarding gods decide to grant me the courage to part with things. Today's mission: baby clothes. I have 6 Rubbermaid bins of stuff to get rid of, and 2 ready to keep :) it's so hard looking through each little sleeper and onesie and not immediately run and get pregnant, but I am pushing through it. The stuff is all still like brand new, we were so gentle on it, so I will probably just sell them in lots to other families around here in a group I am part of on Facebook that is all other moms :)  Pics realized I don't need or want to keep this stuff, because even if I have another boy, I will want all new stuff for him, so it's a win/win :) the more stuff I get rid of, the less we will have to move when that time comes! So here's to the beginning of spring cleaning!:) happy Sunday!

Spring cleaning time

Image
With spring time and the beautiful weather comes the urge to clean, purge and organize!!  Before I start my massive clean, I feel the need to planner since I thrive on planning (to-do lists jotted down everywhere lol).  Here are my main desires this spring cleaning season: I am planning our meals ahead now, and it goes well except for nights when I just don't have the energy to get it all together. This idea will help those nights, so Ty knows the plan for dinner and can get it started if he's home first. 7 days of meals separated after groceries into the corresponding nights basket. Open up the pantry and BOOM supper!:) (obviously aside from fridge items) The laundry room is a constant annoyance in my life. I want to spruce it up. A trip to winners for some of these gorgeous glass canisters for detergent to place on the shelf will help! 1 for baby detergent, 1 for our regular Gain and 1 for the specialty detergent used for sheets (usually lavender scent to make us sleep bette...

Just a survey kind of day

I am home today. I want to sort through stuff. But before I become a productive human: a survey! If  you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Would you take anyone with you? Italy with my love. Food, wine, culture, romance, architecture. What else could you want? Favourite month and why? July. Right in the middle of the heat. I love bbq, patio season, being so hot and getting into the ac, having a tan, wearing flip flops, cruising with the window down, eating fresher food. Name 3 items you could pick up from where you are. Aside from G man...throw pillow, cell phone, sippy cup What brand logo is closest to you currently? Oshkosh  What is your desktop background currently? G wearing a paper crown he made at daycare Last person you talked to, and through what you talked to them Garett, right in front of me What timekeeping devices are in the room you are currently in? Cell phone, iPad, Rogers digital cable box What kind of headphones do you use? A...

Bad blogger

I'm a bad blogger. I forget about it a lot, and I forget about a bunch of other important stuff to. That's what this post is about. I'm bad at remembering things that need to be done for me. I like to think I excel at my motherly duties (and go over and beyond for my babe), but jot only that, but I think I'm a pretty awesome wife, not only on the daily, but also because I make sure to put aside for my man so we can make sure we stay connected mentally, emotionally, etc through our date day/nights/road trips/hanging around the house.  I don't worry about much. Work takes up a lot of time, and when I'm not there, I want to be home. I feel guilty. I have let friendships slide. I don't have the stamina nor the energy to listen to other peoples problems, insecurities, etc lately. I enjoy being the listening ear usually, or just be there to hang out, but lately...nope! Luckily, my friendships are strong enough that I can go a while without picking up the phone to ...
