I went real life shopping..

I don't do this much, and it's because I generally lack control when I see things I like and/or want/need. It's my birthday week. How's that for justification? Garett has an ear infection in his left ear so I wanted to stay near by and available on his first day of meds, so I grabbed my sister in law for a day of shopping. First ..Bonnie Toggs (don't think it's named this anymore though). I just bought g a new fall wardrobe, and I only needed a new fall hat for him and some gloves. I ended up buying lots more. Oops. But they got some new stuff since a week ago when I was last there! Lol Then we hit up Walmart. Danger.danger. Really wasn't that bad though, surprisingly. We had lost a bathroom box in the move, so I just wanted to replace the rest of the stuff we lost. I also bought an anti fatigue mat for in front of the kitchen sink (heaven), some food stuff, some nerdy shirts for Ty to wear at the store, and potentially a few small things I'm forgetting,...

I went online shopping...

Well, Daycare called me to tell me G had a bit of a fever and that she was giving him some kids Motrin and putting him for a nap and that she would check often and call me when he woke up. I decided to leave work right away in case he wouldn't go for a nap there. He did. So now I am sitting here with nothing to do but online shop...great. I've been meaning to do that :| lol Here is what I bought: A rug for outside the door when the fall one is no longer relevant and before/after major snowfalls.  The monogram piece and the rubber piece are separate pieces, but I love the rug in the frame, so I needed both...obviously. And a W obviously. This is a rug for inside the door. The woman that lived here before had a mat just like this and I have convinced myself I need the exact one. I bought 3 of these to go in the cubby holes in the shelf farther down This will be above the light switch beside the front door or the garage door...I have discovered I miss the little hook for the keys ...

Let the decorating commence

Image
Turns out all I needed to inspire me was decorating a cubby hole. As you know, my parents came over to help me decorate the outside of my house for fall, and it got me in the spirit to cook and clean and I really want to bake...but it also got me in the spirit of decorating. I picked up a few little things for the cubby above my fireplace in the living room, and I am really liking how it came together (no matter how simple it is). It makes the house feel more like home, and now the fire is lit under me to start the rest of the house.. I still want to do one room at a time (no matter how hard it is for me--the most impulsive shopper in the world--to not buy everything all at once). So I decided to start up and work our way down. And since my little guy is the most important thing/person in my life, I feel he deserves his room to be done first :) Since the art that I really wanted and posted about in my blog about Garett's future room is unavailable (the curse of the shopper th...

Housewarming

Image
Suckers for punishment--that's what we are. Tyler and I have a gift for picking the busiest time in our life and planning things right smack in the middle of them. He didn't want to wait too long after moving to have a housewarming--because that's half the fun--not being totally unpacked and nothing on the walls--feels more like a "welcome to this house and our journey here" that way.I am from the same school of thought on that, but that's a rule of thumb for normal people to follow. We are not ordinary people. We are exceptionally busy all the time, and we were total space cadets when we picked a day 10 days after move in (and about 3 hours of work towards unpacking TOTAL put in). Such is life though, and it will be one more thing to check off of our ever growing "to do" list. Since it's a potluck/BYOB and meat as well, it takes a lot of the pressure off of me. I'm not decorating for it or putting out fancy foods. Instead, my part wil...

Hump Day!

Image
Well, it's Wednesday already (from 7-3 it feels like a long week, but when I think of all there is to do around the house, the time is flying by too fast). We haven't been able to get much done around the house this week. I haven't been able to get out of work until almost 4 each day (why things always pop up at the last minute, I will never figure out), but overtime is fine with me :) And Ty has been working some serious hours too, keeping up with the concrete season and getting the store ready for soft-launch next week (hard launch early october). I get G, go home, cook dinner, get the dishwasher started after, throw a load of laundry in (I still have like 4 more garbage bags full to wash) and 2 that are clean to put away and 2 big suitcases full of clothes to unpack too..so time consuming! We play with G and then it's bath times, I lay out his and my stuff for the next day and then it's time for bed. I should have booked 2 weeks off! lol This Saturday we are ...

Touching Base

It's been a while... In reality I feel it hasn't been that long, but this last week has been killer on my nerves, on my patience and on my sanity. How do people move every year? I don't understand it....when we rented, it seemed like everytime the lease came up, we were packing up and moving. And in all honesty, I didn't think moving would bother me so much this time around. Last time it was a long transition, because we were renovating before we moved into our first home. This house was pretty well turn-key (aside from the intention of finishing the basement once we are settled), so I assume (SO SO wrongly) that it would be fine. A few days before the move, we had rented a big 26' truck. Ty and I loaded some. Some friends sporadically came to help load, and when we thought we had a handle on it and that there wasn't THAT much left to move, we turned the gears way down. The day of the move came, they started loading stuff and we realized just how much was ...
