Let the decorating commence
Turns out all I needed to inspire me was decorating a cubby hole.
As you know, my parents came over to help me decorate the outside of my house for fall, and it got me in the spirit to cook and clean and I really want to bake...but it also got me in the spirit of decorating. I picked up a few little things for the cubby above my fireplace in the living room, and I am really liking how it came together (no matter how simple it is). It makes the house feel more like home, and now the fire is lit under me to start the rest of the house..
I still want to do one room at a time (no matter how hard it is for me--the most impulsive shopper in the world--to not buy everything all at once). So I decided to start up and work our way down. And since my little guy is the most important thing/person in my life, I feel he deserves his room to be done first :)
Since the art that I really wanted and posted about in my blog about Garett's future room is unavailable (the curse of the shopper that takes too long to purchase what they want)...I was back to square one. It changed everything in my mind. I looked and looked and looked...then all of a sudden, I remembered Etsy....after flipping through a few pages, I found this one shop that does all wood art with reclaimed wood that he paints/stains any colour you can imagine. So I looked through his store and found what I think are the cutest dinosaur pieces. And since G is heavy into Dinosaurs as of late, I wanted them. I wanted to make sure they wouldn't be too scary, but I guess the only way to find out is to hang them!
Here are the three I picked:
They're all a pretty decent size, so it should look funky and rustic. I'm excited to get them :) The T-Rex I think I picked in a Navy colour, the middle guy was orange I think and the top guy was green (I think that's how I picked it anyways).
Then I found this pillow and blanket set that I fell in love with (I used to LOVE silk trimmed stuff to rub on my face when I was little--Ty too--so of course G needed that too). So I ordered this last night as well:)
This past weekend was our house warming party. So Saturday morning G and I ran out to the grocery store for a few things and then cleaned a bit while he napped. My parents came to pick him up, but ended up staying a while so I didn't get to town to pick up what I wanted (not a need lol), so I just took my time getting ready and lounging around instead. People started trickling in at around 4:30 through 7:30, and lasted for quite some time. It was a good time and was nice to have a bunch of people together because we hadn't seen anyone in so long, but was even nicer to have a quiet house on Sunday :)
My parents brought G back late morning and he went pretty well straight to bed for a nap. So I relaxed for a while--with the intention of going into town after his nap. Then the torrential downpour started and I was not going anywhere in the damp weather, so we stuck around the house playing and eating haha
This morning is freezing outside. I almost wore a winter coat...yeah..that bad. My office still has AC blasting and I feel like I need wool socks and warm mitts--my nose looks like rudolph in here!
Hope everyone has a great Monday ,and hope your weekend was wonderful :)

That's all I have for his room so far--I found a ceiling light I really wanted for him, but it takes flourescent bulbs and I don't think I like the lighting that would come off of it, so I am going to keep looking until I find the perfect one :) Thinking of grabbing the paint this weekend and having Ty do that whenever he gets a moment, so that's done and ready for when the art gets here to hang--OR I will wait for the art pieces to come so I have a better idea of what they look like in person. No rush..I can look for other stuff in the meantime:)

I might need to make an appointment for my boy tomorrow because he has been fussing with his ear this morning and fell asleep in high chair breakfast at daycare. She is so good for giving me heads up on things.
Hopefully he's just fighting something off and it isn't an ear infection, but with this weather you just never know :(This morning is freezing outside. I almost wore a winter coat...yeah..that bad. I can't wait to see the final product of G's room! What color are you painting it? Thanks for having all of us on Saturday - it was SO nice to be out of the house and so many people to cuddle with Rylie - so much cuddling that she actually slept really well that night :)
ReplyDeleteI hope G feels better soon - too many bugs are going around right now...it's that nasty time of year :( and no one likes seeing little people sick!
