New baby needs for my sanity !
After Garett , I had settled into a nice routine. That was over 3 years ago, so this time around I knew I didn't have the luxury of figuring it out as I went again, because with a toddler running around also, you have to be better at time management. Here is my list of things I couldn't make it through without!!
1) our Maytag stand up deep freezer. Deep freezers keep breast milk longer. It's emptied out and quickly filling up with milk! My supply this time is crazy, so I probably have a few weeks extra milk stashed away so far. This puts my mind at ease knowing that when I decide enough is enough with pumping, I will still have extra to give to her :) my goal this time is to make it to 6 months of just breast milk so then I will transition off of it once she starts her purées.

2) Nivea Body Milk lotion
My skin gets so dry in the hospital, and nursing quickly dehydrates you and your skin. So lotion. All the lotion.

3) pumping every 3-4 hrs. Lanolin cream. Enough said.

4) this bath seat. It's adjustable. It curves to the baby's body. My babies love the bath though, so I don't know if it's just bath time in general that's easy. Or if it's because of this seat lol

5) a good bottle brush. Soooo much time spent cleaning bottles and breast pump parts. Get a good one.

6) bottle warmer. This is the one I bought as a last minute purchase. We survived without one for g , but Keira seems to cluster feed more than Garett ever did, so I need a quick warming doc between cluster feeds

7) bleeding after labour is serious business. I bled less this time around since they gave me a pill to lessen it, but for am few days after you will want the biggest pads you can find on the market. I bought these ones for both babies.

8) Aden and anais Muslin swaddle blankets. We go through receiving blankets so fast everyday. We have like 40 of them and have to do a load of them in the wash everyday! These are my fav tho. They're so soft and light and huge!

9) milk storage bags. These are my favourite because they're stiffer and easier to pour milk out of.
10) reusable breast pads. Leaking through all of your bras and shirts and sheets are no fun. Invest in some good reusable breast pads.
11) my mini fridge has become a new piece of furniture in my bedroom. It's so convenient in the middle of the night feedings and pumping sessions to have the fridge right there and not have to go downstairs constantly !!
12) my electric bottle sterilizer. I bought the same one this time around that I had for G. It's big, fits 10 bottles in the bottom portion and all the nipples In the top. It's a pretty quick cycle too, I like that i just fill it up , turn it on and leave.
13) my current time killer on the android box. Parenthood. You're going to need to pick a few series to watch to get through the first few months lol
14) we like the Purex baby detergent better than any other. Generally baby detergents stink. I find this the least offensive smelling detergent.
15) jolly jumper nursing pillow. To sleep on, to hold the baby on when feeding , to nap baby on, to sit baby up. It's multi functional and I can't live without it. I still have m green one from when G was born. I keep it on the main level. I have my new cream coloured one upstairs :)
16) Tyler bought this for me as a present. The Medela hands free pumping bra. It's been amazing.
17) my Medela Freestyle double electric pump. The price tag is not appealing , but the convenience it has provided now for both babies , it's worth it!!
18) Huggies diapers. Last time we swore by pampers swaddlers. When Keira came home from the hospital (they use Huggies at the hospital now), we tried to switch her to swaddlers and she got a crazy rash. The doctor said it was just the common newborn rash. It went away after 24 hrs but it freaked me out and now I'm too scared to try pampers on her again. So Huggies it is!!
19) I bought a bunch of different types of bottles this time to try out. Last time I used Medela bottles and had a bunch of the calma nipples. I also used the Avent bottles and tried the ventaire bottles and Nuk bottles. I didn't like any of them. This time I use the Medela bottles only to pump into (they attach to my pump) and we have the born free and dr Browns. The born free are ok but I find I like the dr Browns one better lately. When we switch to the bigger bottles, I'm going to buy only that brand. We bought our princess the pink ones too, which I also like haha
So for now that's what I can't live without ! What were some of your new baby necessities ?
I love the baby Purex and still use it. I would wash all Rylie's stuff and sit there sniffing it in her room, before she was born haha! Also those Medela milk storage bags are the best, hands down! We had the exact same swaddle/receiving blankets but they were by Summer, veryyyyy long and I loved them too!
