Labour Day Weekend Recap

Labour Day long weekend was great! Early on Saturday August 31, we were in the car and were Vaughn bound! We only had to stop one time for a pee break and a breakfast adventure. We made it to Vaughn in really good time (not a lot of traffic), so we walked around for a bit before our timeslot at Legoland began.

I wasn't sure what to expect for Legoland since I had previously seen it was located in the Vaughn Mills Mall. But its on the list of largest enclosed malls in Canada and it was huge inside! We went on the rides, the kids did their activity packs (collect a stamp from each activity/station), played, had a snack in the cafĂ©,  and did some shopping. If you're thinking about going--you should go!!

Afterwards, we went to the Disney store, and because it was Marvel's 80th anniversary, the kids were included in a parade. Keira was the only one to pick the Pascal (from Tangled) mask, and Garett was the only one to pick C3PO from Star Wars. The rest picked Storm Troopers lol They learned a dance and a song, decorated a captain America shield, etc. They had a blast!

We went to check into the hotel afterwards, and got settled in/unpacked and jumped around on the beds a bit to let out some sillys.

We grabbed supper at the hotel, went swimming in the pool, and ventured out to Walmart after we realized Tyler didn't load the bag that had the sleeve of pull-ups before we left home (lol). So we grabbed a bunch more snacks, went back to the hotel, binged on snacks, and went to bed at 9PM (the kids slept like logs).

We were up and out the door by 8:30 the following morning, with a FULL day ahead, living on a prayer that they would be ok.

Keira spilled juice ALL over herself in her carseat as we were entering downtown Toronto. Good thing I packed a change of clothes!

We found some parking, and headed to grab some breakfast. We made our way up to the Ripley's Aquarium (which is pretty well at the base of the CN Tower). It is pretty pricey to get in, but it was so much fun for the kids (and the big kids --us--that were mesmerized by everything!)

Afterwards, we walked around and went to the Toronto Rail Museum. Garett took a little one-on-one in-service on how to be a train engineer, which he was very excited about. Keira was more excited with the train table lol.

We went to play some Arcade games at this cool spot called "Rec Room". The kids (and us) had so much fun. If we lived in Toronto, this would be a regular spot for us.

While we played, we made reservations at the restaurant attached. which was delicious!! The kids favourite part was the bags of popcorn they brought to the table first. My favourite part was the banana bread sticky toffee cake. Also cool is that it's inside of an old rail turntable!! They still have the original doors and ceiling.

Once we left here, we headed back to the truck to fight traffic for 1.5 hours looking for parking close to Medieval Times. PS. unbeknownst to us, it was closing weekend of the Toronto CNE ex. So parking was very hard to find, and there were road closures ALL around Medieval Times. We finally found a lot that was a 5 minute walk away.

We got there just in time to get our seats, and the show started shortly after. The food was great, the kids had a BLAST and cheered very hard for our knight (black knight). Keira was the receiver of a flower our knight tossed into the crowd. We got to meet him afterwards, and getting her to turn around was difficult, she was so smitten, she kept making her pretty eyes at him lol. The kids picked a souvenir (Garett picked a wooden axe and shield and keira a pointy hat thing with a veil on it).

We went back to the hotel for a swim, a snack and bed!

The kids slept THIRTEEN hours this night. They were pooped right out. They did SO well being out of the hotel for almost 12 hours the day before, and Keira only had a 15 minute nap in the stroller.

We loaded up the car for the drive home, and stopped for some breakfast and lunch on the way back. I will also applaud the kids for being wonderful car companions for 5 hours each way!

The day after we returned home was Garett's first day of Grade 1! He was very refreshed and excited to go tell his friends about his fun summer/last weekend of summer! He's been very much enjoying being a "grade" student!
