What a busy, busy week!! And no end in sight until the New Year!!
On Monday after work Tyler picked me and Dolly up and went to Peggy and Terry's for dinner. We were there for a few hours before heading home. Late night getting to bed #1.
On Tuesday at 2:00 we headed out for our divisional Christmas Party at Maxwell's on Elgin. Complete with appetizers, drinks and a tacky gift exchange. Tyler picked us up from there as well and brought us home. I was so wound up from being out that I didnt get to bed until late. Late night getting to bed #2.
On Wednesday we headed to the market at lunch to go to the Crocs store. My dad was recently diagnosed with bone spurs in his feet, austio arthritis and something facitious (dont know what it's called or how it's spelled but he needs physio, medication and to get some prescription orthotic shoes and insoles which are pushing $1000 a pair). The doctor told him Crocs are ortho approved as well so he advised him to get some. I bought him a pair of winter boots (which he will clearly need) and a pair of dressy loafers. They were having a buy one, get one 40% off sale so instead of 190+tax, it came to just over $160 after taxes :) I was very pleased. I would like to go back though and get him some of the socks. Apparently they're amazing as they have double compression bandages, extra padding and no irritating toe seams. It's on my "before Christmas to-do list". That night I went to the grocery store and spent $311 on BAKING groceries. I am not sure how I always manage to spend more on baking supplies then I do on actual groceries when I do that but I did it. Oh well! I made my chocolate truffle mix and my Peanut Butter Chocolate balls to start. Cleaning up after was no easy chore. Late night getting to bed #3.
Yesterday (Thursday) we went to Grill 41 at the Elgin Hotel for lunch with one of my teams. It was so-so--nothing special that I would ever go out of my way for though! Not too cheap either! After I got home from work I made dinner (was cooking a roast beef all day while I was at work) and paired it with some long grain mushroom rice pilaf and some ceasar salad. Delicious :) After I cleaned up from dinner I finished my truffles by rolling them in the cocoa powder and stuck them in the fridge to set. I started making my cake batter cookies (which is the dry materials for a yellow cake and dry materials for sugar cookie mixed). They are like little sandwhiches--2 cookies with icing in the middle. Like a little piece of heaven :) Once I finished those up, I cleaned the kitchen again, moved onto the living room, dining room, and 2 spare rooms. Tyler will do the basement and bathroom and master today while I'm here at work. After that, I peeled and sliced up some potatoes and mixed all my goodies together in the crockpot to make some au gratin scalloped potatoes. We're having our friends Jess and Jason over for dinner tonight to show the m the new place and hang out :) They're bringing baby Grace (not so baby anymore!) and Sabe with them so I made plenty :) We will be bbq'ing some filet mignon that Tyler picked up last night from the butcher and I will be sauteeing fresh Green beans in butter, garlic and bacon. Not sure what to do for dessert yet! May just pick up stuff to make ice cream sundaes :) So needless to say between all this, it's hard to keep the house clean. But I HATE having any mess or clutter this time of year when you're out and about so much--I hate coming home to messiness so I leave it clean and it's less overwhelming to come home to :) Especially living out of a bag for a few days at Christmas--I hate coming home with any laundry still being dirty, etc.Anyways...late night getting to bed #4
Saturday afternoon we are heading over to the mother-in-laws house. She has finally decided to put up a christmas tree :) So we are having stew and decorating for her! No real plans Saturday night yet so I think I will take that opportunity to bake more! I have 7 more recipes to bake before the tins for everyone are complete!
Sunday my parents are coming for a visit. They were supposed to be bringing Father Matthew to bless our house but he may have something he has to go to--but we will wait and see! Hopefully he can make it :) It would be a bit of a blessing if he couldn't. Then I have a chance to get him a gift for Christmas/a thank you for coming and blessing the house lol.
Next week is crazy as well. I booked Wednesday off to finish my shopping and wrapping and Thursday I have my hair and nail appointment after work, etc, etc--there's just ALWAYS something going. Hopefully these late nights don't catch up to me and get me sick before Christmas! Better take lots of naps this weekend:)
How about everyone else? How are you all doing with the stress and hectic-ness of Christmas?!?! Any weekend plans??

My weekend plans...tonight, nothing I don't think. Just gonna do some cleaning and laundry. Tomorrow night we have to go to Kaz for Casey's Uncle David's surprise 60th birthday bash and Sunday will be a day of baking and cooking I think! I also have to finish my Xmas shopping too - just 1 more thing for Mom and then onto wrapping :)
