Weds July 11, 2012
Well, it’s been a while! I haven’t had much spare time to put pen to paper here (or fingers to keyboard, if you will!).
I don’t even know where to begin! So much has been going on and I think it was like Christmas the last time I posted. I guess I will just start…
In April, Ty and I went on our Honeymoon to Sandals Royal Hicacos Resort in Veradero, Cuba. It was amazing! All inclusive is definitely the way to travel—though when you travel to Cuba, make sure you bring a credit card that is not based out of the USA or you will not be able to get any more money out J Thank God we brought enough—we tried to get out more at the International bank—no go! We missed out on one or two more excursions we would have liked to go on but decided it wasn’t a big deal anyways—pretty hard to be disappointed when you are surrounded by white sand and warm, calm ocean with a Bahama Mama drink in hand! J We started to feel a bit queasy around day 5 (just from the sheer difference in how food is prepared there, I suspect). Thankfully, we planned ahead (even though our travel buddies teased us beforehand) and got the antibiotics from the doctor---we shared with them and the rest was smooth sailing! We will go back someday, but there are many other destinations we wish to visit before we head back for a second round J
May also brought some very interesting moments J I went out for a nail appointment on May 19 with my sister and decided on the way home I was going to stop at the pharmacy since I hadn’t been feeling “right” the last few days—something just seemed different—and Tyler and I had started “trying” about two weeks after we got back from Cuba….well, it must have been immediate for us since the pregnancy test I picked up that day read “pregnant”!!! I was SO excited when I saw it pop up, I ran outside as fast as I could to Tyler and Larry who were building horseshoe pits outback, waving my test in the air. Tyler was fairly confident I was pregnant already so it just reiterated his manhood to himself, really lol But he was very excited, we hugged and kissed a bit and I went inside to eagerly await my sister and sister in law to arrive so I could show them (nope, we wasted NO time telling people we were SO excited J). I also made a call to my parents and we called Tyler’s mom in the meantime as well. Happy tears all around!! What a wonderful day!!
The rest of May and June brought many doctors appointments—trying to put a finger on the actual date of conception/how far along I was—and it’s been never ending appointments since—but it is so fun and exciting, I wouldn’t trade it for the world! I started a pregnancy journal like my mom did for my sister and I and have started buying things here and there for the baby (holding out big time until we find out boy or girl!)
Other than our lives changing for that, we have been enjoying our first summer in our home! We are very busy getting things around the house and outside all fixed up the way we want it 100%. We have plans in motion of finishing the laundry room in the basement and adding another bathroom in there with a cheater door through to the computer room (upon resell, this will be considered another bedroom). We put a tv in the spare room and are getting another Bell box for that room so visitors have tv as well—things have started shifting in the baby’s room and will continue to move stuff out and new stuff in there J Outside, we put in a gorgeous stamped concrete patio out back and are preparing to pour another farther back in the yard to put the gazebo and second patio set on. We have put up new outside lighting and wall decorations, have new eaves troughs going in next week, are fixing up the firepit area and putting a badminton net up! Still need to purchase a hammock (or two J), some lounger chairs, another firepit (this one will be a chimney type for the back deck) and the plants and flowers. We are aiming to have it all done by July 21 (my parents anniversary and having them for a bbq) or latest, August 4th for the cousins bbq, so we at least have some time to sit and relax and enjoy our outdoor oasis!! J
Outfront all we need is to fix up the front steps/walkway and widen the driveway—this will clean up the front of the house SO much since the driveway looks awful right now! I am just excited for everything to be done—it is expensive owning a home and doing what you want to make yourselves comfortable there but the joy it brings is unbelievable! The ultimate sense of satisfaction! Tyler mentioned something the other day that made me laugh—he said “all being an adult is, is spending money on your house and being happy about it”…SO true!!! Especially with baby on the way, I am in ultimate mom nest mode—I want it done and I want it done NOW lol
At the end of July, Ty and I have a planned date night—our favourite kind—a nice fancy dinner out, all dressed up and out to see a broadway show. This time, we are going to see Wicked at the NAC and I managed to snag tickets just 5 rows from the front! It should be amazing J We are SO looking forward to a night out!
In August, I booked off the week after the long weekend (August 6-10). We plan on some day trips (me and Ty and me and Nat would like to go on one or two as well). Brockville, Merrickville, Westport, etc. Just some little home store shopping, little restaurants to visit in, etc….it’s nice to go back to your roots and see what’s changed and what’s the same J
September holds our one year anniversary already! Since I can’t fully enjoy the beautiful bottle of champagne Tyler’s cousin and wife gave us, we are planning to maybe head to Montreal for the weekend and take in some sights, possibly go to Medieval Times (since we have both been talking about this forever!) and splurge on a nice hotel J We are enjoying these nice getaways together while we can since for a while after the baby is born, we won’t be trusting anyone else to watch him/her! Lol
In between there, lots of trips to Cornwall, bbqs, hanging out at the campsite and helping my parents settle in to their new home/finish their basement! I LOVE summer and all the fun activities and moments with family it brings!
I guess this is long enough and I rambled for enough time this morning! God knows when I’ll get a chance to write again so, hope you all have a wonderful, warm summer filled with love and laughter!!! xoox
