It's beginning to look a lot like ..l

Christma-co! Lol Point form since I can form a full thought today:  My house is such a mash up right now of wrapped and not yet wrapped Christmas gifts, beachwear and luggage!  My to do list before we leave us somehow not getting any smaller--probably because I always seem to put off the most time consuming tasks. I have like 12 loads of laundry to do and put away before we go (did 3 this morning so I feel good about that lol). I'm all packed and I just have last minute stuff to pack for Garett now --Tyler hasn't started, so I may take the bull by the horns and pack him since im more concerned about it at this point lol.  I am NOT looking forward to leaving Garett now that Ty has been in my ear saying he will forget us--even Though I know it's not true, I feel bad and don't want him to think we abandoned him since we will be gone when he wakes up on Saturday :'( Tomorrow my parents are coming for a sleep over--why is that ore exciting than my trip right now? Lol We ...

No time to write a blog, we are working around the house today, but here are some of our fall family shots!

Monday Morning(ish)

What.a.NIGHT! Luck was running short in the Wood household last night. Someone's karma bit the wrong two people :( first off, Garett somehow caught a stomach bug causing him to have a fever if 101 on top of his congestion, and projectile vomiting on my bed (twice) (not to mention I changed the sheets in between too.). My poor boy :( he was smiles the whole time, which is probably why it took us an hour to figure out he was even sick! ...so out came the Otrivin sea water for babies nasal spray, tempra and water to stay hydrated. I was all set to cuddle with him in bed all night. But he had different plans. He wanted to go to his crib around 10:30. At 11 he woke up crying for his bottle, so we gave him some and he went back to sleep until almost 9 this morning. He seems 100% better other than the stuffy nose, but I'm getting rid of that pretty quickly I think :) In the midst of all of this, I was cooking our dinner. Here is what I made: Garlic Parmesan roasted potatoes A brown su...

Whoa, Sunday?!

Where the heck did this weekend go?!? Last night when Ty got home from band rehearsal, we were too tired to put up the tree. Instead we sat down and looked at our fall pictures on our 65" TV--that's a whole lot of us! Lol I will share the pics when I load them onto my laptop and email them to myself to put on my blog :) after that, we tuned in to some TV and relaxed a bit. Garett had skipped out on his evening nap, so I knew he was going to have a rough patch at the beginning of the night. What I didn't anticipate was his moaning and tossing and turning all night :( we were up three times to change his wet diaper, rock him and give him a bottle. He would be fine as I rocked him and fuss as soon as he wen down. This morning I noticed a somewhat plugged nose n my boy, so I gave him a baby salt water nasal spray and it seemed to help a bit. I cranked his humidifier and put one in our room too, so hopefully a bit of moisture in the air helps a bit and wiping is nose with boogi...

Saturday!!

Last night was relaxing. We accomplished nothing, but it was relaxing.  Ty had a meeting at the bank and to look at some store locations for his new business, and when he came home, I got to take a nice bath and went for a nap (but couldn't sleep , grr!!) and then we watched some TV and played and I started dinner. We weren't super hungry since I hate a very late brunch and Ty ate while he was out, so I made this: The only thing that was different was the bread. I used ciabatta buns instead because they hold up to the panini press better--it was an avocado spread,Colby jack cheese, homemade breaded chicken strips, and bacon --yep, yum. Not too light and not too heavy. Then we waited a bit and had the cheesecake I made for dessert.  We sat down and watched the first period of the game before Garett was beat, so Ty finished watching it and I went to bed early :)  Today Ty has rehearsal with his new band, and is picking up our DVD of family fall pics we had one, that I poste...

Omg we're back again

Now that I have that BBB song in my head... I haven't been absent to get stuff organized for Mexico--with G in the mix, packing got a lot more complicated. I went on a baby food making frenzy for 2 days. That, plus we've been out running errands and visiting people. I know, you missed me, right? LOL The other night, we tried a healthy new recipe. Verdict:Ty loved it so much he actually ate the leftovers and ate all the extra filling lol I also decided to be counter productive and make these peanut butter chocolate chip shortbread cookies. Luckily, the recipe was small and Ty ate all but 2 of them lol. They were amazing.  We get our final product DVD of our family fall photoshoot tomorrow. I am so, so excited to see the pictures!  This weekend we are taking advantage of the more mild temperatures and putting up our Christmas lights and cleaning the basement so we can put up our tree and such! I have the hot cocoa, Christmas movies and Christmas music ready to go to help us thro...

Christmas Shopping season

Image
I may have went a little overboard with Christmas for Garett. I was raised in a home that loved Christmas. The level that my parents brought it to even surprised Tyler when he joined our family, and he has grown to love Christmas as much as us. However, I may have even went a little wild. I went to a big toy expo yesterday. 'Nuff said. I went with the intention of picking out two or three larger items, since I had already bought 9 mid-sized presents and we did not want to go too crazy since Garett is way too young to even open his own gifts (I'm not diluted enough to think otherwise, don't worry). I do want him to have nice pictures to look back on and know we always did put this much effort into Christmas and that mommy and daddy and Santa were always good to him. I think my point will be proven, he has lots of gifts to "open" hahah. Gifts are all well and good, but Christmas is about tradition and memories (aside from the religious aspect, and the whole being wi...

Monday:Head on

Our Sunday was very laid back. We hung out with our little dude, I made Shepards Pie for dinner, finally (I've been meaning to for like a week now). I made it like Ty likes it (with only cream corn as veggies) but with a little twist of spices, and it turned out really well.  I have to say, I really like this fall back in time. Garett was fast asleep by 9pm and I got some laundry put away, cleaned up our room, changed out all the sheets, cleaned around the kick splash tiles (is that what they're called? The tiles between the floor and the cupboards) and put away some toys that were laying out. We watched a bit of the food network before bed and then passed out!  I am feeling really disorganized right now--I have so much to do that gets put off from day to day. I still have yet to call service canada, I have to go into service Ontario to fix Garett's health card (yah--thanks for binging us really important forms for us to fill out in the middle of the night after Garett was ...

Saturday recap/November Date

Image
Saturday, we slept in until 8:30:) When we woke up, we lounged with the boy until 10. Then we hauled butt and got Garett and ourselves ready. Off to Orleans! Granny and Grandpa were waiting to spend a few hours with G.  We got all dressed up headed out from there and headed downtown to the Ottawa Convention Center (beside rideau center), had our tickets scanned and went inside. Our date was the Ottawa Food and Wine Festival. We started off buying our drink/food tickets--we started with a taste of the new Budweiser --I forget what it's called--but it's much darker--pretty good, but I'm not a huge beer fan, so I cleaned my cup at the rinse station and had a bit of sommersby. We also tried a new girls night out wine, a Riesling , a 1997 Shiraz, some big rig brewery beer and I think that's it on the liquor side of things--sounds like we had a lot but the wine is not 30ml servings and beer is 60ml. The food we tried was some green curry chicken from the Green Papaya, some sa...

It's Friday (recap )

Image
Since I'm always behind on things-- yesterday night we had made plans for our friends Jess and Jason  to come over for dinner and the game with their two girls.  We had some errands to run during the day and to clean a bit/give Garett a bath and get ready. For dinner I figured a casserole of sorts would be the easiest since there would be 6 of us.  I decided on brown sugar glazed carrots with mashed potatoes and then this: I have a new favourite comfort food casserole-- shredded chicken, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, a delicious parm/bread crumb crust, and a creamy sauce that soaks into all of the above.  For dessert, which I didn't have time to make, Ty purchased the most chocolate cake he could find lol. I figured him going to the store for dessert it would be either something sickeningly sweet or something fruit. Guess he was man pms'ing because low and behold--chocolate on chocolate on chocolate lol. The boys watched the game and all the girls hung out visiting, taki...

Halloween kind of recap

Image
My brain is mush The last two days are a blur of quasi-cleaning (because I can clean and clean and still nothing gets done), baking, packing and driving. On Weds I finally got to making my Halloween cupcakes for the grandparents of my precious boy  Thursday we were up bright and early getting ready, then we were off to Cornwall. After a quick-ish visit there we were headed to Orleans to see Ty's mom. When we left there it was already getting dark, so we packed it in lol. Here's my boy in his robin gear My mom has better shots of us all in our costumes, (including ty in the full costume and not just gloves and mask/cape) but I don't have them yet. We shut off all he lights and went to the basement to watch a movie and play--doorbell never rang once :) ahhhh, relaxation, sweet, sweet relaxation.  The next few days are just as busy, soi must be on my way now! Happy Friday!:)
