Dominican Recap- Part 2

OSo like I said before, we were anxiously awaiting Rod and Sharon--we were stalking the front desk, asking if the plane had arrived, asking where they were--I'm sure reception was VERY happy when they arrived.

We were waiting around the corner to pop out at them, but instead they walked them over to the Preferred Guest Check in, so we ran through the resort, trying to cut them off on the path, but still got stuck behind them. They turned around and were very happy to see some familiar faces :) We waited with them while they checked in and visited for a while. We walked down the beach so Rod could buy some stogies and sunglasses, and we showed them our spot where we like to swim in the ocean. We then grabbed a few drinks and some lunch at the Seaside Grill. We hung out tanning and swimming and eventually got ready for dinner. We ate at the French Cuisine A-la-carte and it was spectacular! Their welcome dish was a cheese and nut tray (yum!). I started with the French onion soup (I ate ALOT of soup on this trip lol) and had the skirt steak for my main. It was so shocking how tender it was--Tyler got fish and was so envious of my meat--I gave him some and we both poured over how amazing it was. For dessert we all got Crème Brule--it was not great, but it hit the spot. The white wine here was yummy :) We went back to the Preferred club bar, and had a few drinks all together before heading to bed!

The next morning, we headed for breakfast (always to the Seaside grill since the hashbrowns, sausages and omelettes were to die for)--and always got greeted with mimosa's! Pays to stay in preferred club :) We also went and shopped a bit at the other souvenir shop (bought G and I a tshirt) and then booked our other excursion. That afternoon we were going to head to the museums for Cigars, Rum and Chocolate. They were VERY short tours--I don't think they really know the premise behind "museum" and not just call it an informational store, but it was still fairly educational. We bought some more knick knacks here (a magnet, shot glass, a bag, and some art work), and bought some amazing fudge and hot chocolate as well. The prices on cigars and rum were not great. We got back to the resort a few hours later, got dressed and headed to dinner. We managed to get a spot at the Japanese Teppanyaki table and watched the show and ate the food...it was definitely a room service night again, since it was good, but not enough quantity. This night, we had a beach party! The boys checked it out for a bit and then I all but begged but to go back lol. Amber and I danced it up until about 11:00 (it was a video dance, with an open bar, big balloons for everyone, a bonfire and the staff was going around with cool air cannon things blowing cool air smoke on people, it was so fun!). Afterwards, we hung out in the lobby bar visiting.

On Monday we were ALL up very early (girls bus left at 7:35, and boys left at 7:55AM). The boys had booked a speedboat excursion--they take turns driving a two-person speed boat and they stop for some snorkeling in one spot and Snuba diving in another (snuba is like scuba diving, but the oxygen tanks are floating in a boat on the surface and you have a big tether cord). The girls took a 1 hour bus ride to a marina to get onto the 1.25 hour catamaran ride filled with dancing and drinking (I consumed water here lol). We got off on Soana island for 4 hours of swimming in crystal teal water, enjoying an amazing bbq/buffet, unlimited drinks (I had only 3 cerveza's, which didn't even equal one pint all together lol) and being hassled by the masseuse's that wanted nothing more than to rub you for "cheapy cheapy" haha. It was SO beautiful though. I couldn't stop saying it out loud. My eyes have never seen anything like it. On the way back, it was a speed boat ride ( it held about 30 people though), and we stopped at a natural swimming pool in the middle of the ocean lol. It was so frigging beautiful there. They came around with star fish for people to hold and take pictures with, and we floated around for an hour, having rum and cokes poured for us in the floating bar lol. It was so relaxing! Soon enough, we were boarding the speedboat again (amber slapped my butt as I was climbing the ladder and I thought it was the guy helping us up and I said "ummmmm!" and shot him the death glare haha oops). We headed back to the marina and took a ride to a grocery store, where we bought a cerveza for the ride home and looked at stuff they were selling (their grocery store also had souvenirs lol). It was a long ride home (Amber and I got VERY sunburned and were putting damp towels and dresses over our shoulders). We got back much later than the boys since our excursion was a full-day and theirs was only half day. So we immediately went to get ready for dinner. We went to the Seaside Grill for  the a-la-carte dinner. I tried the beef fillet and since it was served on a cast iron plate, it was incredibly overcooked. The seasoning was good, but this was my least favourite meal. We went to bed early again since it was a very early morning the following day. After dinner, my back hurt so bad, I went for a swim in the pool from our room that walked out onto it.

Tuesday was spent relaxing. We swam in the main pools, then went over and hung out in the hot tub in the other preferred club pool, walked around and didn't do a hole lot! We got ready for our last dinner in Punta Cana! We decided to go back to the Mexican El Patio restaurant! mmmmm It was a fairly early night--I finished all my packing and we hung out at the Preferred Club patio and took pictures and talked.

Soon enough, the alarm went off. We had concierge get our luggage at 7:30 and by 7:50, we were checked out and on the bus to the airport. We breezed through security again and feasted on some Wendy's (yes, they have a Wendy's, Baskin Robbins, Cinnabon, etc in the airport there lol) and made our way to our gate. We waited quite a while and then boarded the plane---it was not a smooth ride back. I slept for about 20 minutes but the seatbelt sign was on a lot, the satellite wasn't working, so there was no tv to distract me, so I played fruit ninja and listened to music. We were all so happy to touch down that we clapped..We sped through customs and waited for ever for our luggage. Soon enough we were on our way back to the car, stopped for a sandwich at Tim's and dropped amber off. Then to go home and wait for our boy!!

I was SOOOOOOO excited to see him, I actually had to take a gravol to settle my stomach as we waited. It was hard for him to say goodbye, and he still misses Ma and Pa everyday, but he got back to his routine fairly quickly (phew). We will never travel without him again--that was too hard with him being at the age he is at :(

All in all--Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana was amazing!!! The staff is AMAZING (very hospitable), the food is spectacular, the drinks are always flowing, the restaurants, pools ,etc are always busy but never full/feel packed, there's always fun activities (like the Cigar inservice we sat through), etc! Never a dull moment! Our room was to die for with the walk out feature, the shower had two huge shower heads and a blaster, and was big enough for like 5 people! lol)...We are thoroughly impressed with the service and the grounds.
