Unexpected Weekend

This weekend I really thought I was going to be locked up inside, bored.

Friday night Tyler had to work until close at his store, so I knew it would be later. He got home around 10, which isn't too bad considering sometimes games run until midnight.

Saturday Ty had to go in in the morning for a bit, but said he would be home by 5 or 6. Our friends Casey and Shannon, and their daughter Rylie decided to come over for a visit, and Ty came home earlier so he could be there. Our friends Rod and Sharon texted as well to see what we were up to--they wanted to chat with us. So they came over as well.

We just sat around chatting--the boys watched the game. The kids slept. It was great. Rod and Sharon dropped a bomb on us--telling us they will be joining us in Dominican. We are thrilled!! Totally unexpected, and even more positive swing on the trip! We go on Weds the 18th (16 days!!) and they will join us on sat the 21. Should be one for the record books :)

The boys were in bed pretty early after rod and Sharon left (around midnight). Shannon and I stayed up chatting a bit until after 3!! Oops :) But a late night here and there is good for the soul, right??

Garett had had a coughing fit earlier in the night--it sounded weird croup-like, so we called Telehealth and we had already done everything they told us to do. It got much better after I gave him his inhalers...so it was likely a bit of asthma attack--he gets so wound up when people visit, he's such a little ham. The coughing has really tapered off over the last few months, and I am so happy. But moments like that can get pretty freaky!!!

He slept in later than I thought he would (around 7) and Ty got up with him and I got to sleep for another 20 minutes or so on Sunday. We didn't do much at all other than hang around playing, reading story books and cleaning up the kitchen. When Garett went for his nap, we also had a big nap (he napped for 2 hours, and we were only 10 mins behind him in falling asleep). When we got up, I fixed some lunch and I headed out to Shoppers--I needed to restock on 2 year old meds (realizing the night before we would have been in a pickle if I needed anything else). All of the medicine we had for Garett was the baby stuff still, but now that he's two, he's in a different dosage schedule/ concentration of meds than before. So I bought some homeopathic cough medicine/throat ease medicine (you can't give kids real medicated cough syrup until SIX years old, ugh), more motrin, Tylenol, polysporin, etc. We played the rest of the night, Garett had an extra long bath and we were all in bed early (by 8:30).

This is a short week for Tyler--he is off on Friday with Garett (it's our daycare providers husbands birthday, so she booked it off so they could celebrate), and I am so looking forward to the next 2 weeks ticking away! Especially since they are calling for 5+ more centimeters of snow tomorrow. If it's not frigid cold temperatures, it's snowfall. I hate both. I long for the island life.

Hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend filled with laughs!!

  1. It was so nice sitting around and catching up! Obviously it was much needed since we talked for 3 hours after they headed to bed haha! We're pretty jealous about that trip but at this point, we wouldn't have anyone to leave Rylie with for a week that wouldn't involve someone having to miss work. That cough of Garett's was crazy - I've never heard a cough like that. I hope he's feeling better! Xoxo
