Toto-lly awesome weekend recap

This was a self proclaimed long weekend for Tyler and I. Daycare was closed on Friday, so we got a lot of playing done early. Tyler's aunt and mom came around 12:30 , and we loaded up the car and hit the road after saying goodbye.

First, we stopped for some Lebanese meat and cheese pies for the road

There was so much traffic leaving the city, the stop and go was making me feel car sick. I was so happy when we hit the open road! The ride up seemed quite long (it was about 4.5 hours ). We were thrilled to have finally arrived   This was the view of the hotel and the casino from the outside

Tyler got us all checked in as I waited with the bags, and snapped a few pictures.

We were on the 4th floor (out of 9, in a corner room). It was nice! I appreciated that each room is a suite, since we spent a lot of time in there (though if it had been a small room, we probably would have spent a fortune in drinks).

Once we got settled in, we headed down to Cedars and had a snack of roasted red pepper and tomato flatbread bruschetta and a tandoori chicken flatbread with pineapple. Tried out a few signature drinks also.

We walked around a bit, played some slot machines, and headed upstairs to get ready for our 9:30pm dinner at St.Germaines steakhouse. We were running a bit early, so we stopped at the lobby bar for a drink. We were the only ones in there since Three Dog Night was playing that night, but I see Ty looking over my shoulder with a crazy look on his face, and Steve Lukather (lead guitarist for Toto) is walking through the lobby. So we stroll up and chat for a while  . At the end he asked us how to get to the same restaurant we were going to dinner at. Tyler grew high hopes that we would be sitting next to them, but the restaurant had a private glasses in room for them. They were just down from us though, and our meals ended almost exactly at the same time. So he got to also meet Steve Porcaro (keyboardist).

We tried some wines, their signature caesars and Ty had some Lagavulin. I started with some Parmesan chips (ty had lobster bisque), and we both had the filet mignon on a bed of mashed potatoes, with crispy onions and a veal reduction.

Afterwards, we went to the piano bar for some entertainment, and he met Joseph Williams again (lead singer--you may know him as "simba"s singing voice from lion king lol)
We headed up to bed around 1:30

In the morning, we headed into Orillia to find an LCBO, a gas station, had breakfast at a place called "Friends" and drove around. We went on a mission to find some cigars. The first smoke shop we went into on the reserve didn't have any (it did have a drive thru though haha), and they sent us up the road to a place that "has a humidor" haha.
We roll up, and find out it's actually the largest humidor in Canada. Tyler was in HEAVEN. They had a nice big patio with Blues playing, we ordered a cappuccino each, ty had a big cigar and I tried a small cigar out. We were having such a nice time, ty got another capucinno and I had a hot chocolate (best ever). He stocked up on cigars, took an order for Rod, we bought a humidor , and some other little stuff. They also owned a gift shop next door, so we bought Garett a dream catcher for his room and some other smaller things.

We headed back to the hotel, and had some drinks and ordered a late room service lunch (fish and chips and wings) tyler had a nap (I did not) and then we got ready for the concert

The show was amazing !!  Afterwards, we went to a restaurant in the casino and had a turkey club (Ty had beef vindaloo) and we got a bread pudding and a crepe brûlée to split and a few drinks. We intended to go out hard , but we're too tored so we went to bed instead haha (getting older)

That meant we were up really early though, so we loaded up and checked out a few hours early. Got breakfast on the road and drove straight home. We were back by 1:30 (took an hour less on the way back for some reason lol)

We said bye to everyone , and Tyler took Garett to Rod and Sharon's to play with the grandkids and visit with their kids and nephew/his wife. They spent the afternoon there and had a BBQ for dinner. They came home around 6:15. Wasn't long before 7 rolled around and the kids were both in bed. We watched an episode of Suits and went to bed as well!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Happy Monday
