Christmas Recap

The craziness began on December 21 for us. The teacher/daycare provider gifts were sent, we were all done shopping and ready to go, but this day marked the Christmas Party at Keira's daycare. All the kids and their parents went at 4:00 for snacks and gift opening. Garett got a little something too since he used to attend. We were home by 6:00ish, had a quick something for dinner and were off to bed.

On the 22nd and 23rd, we were busy getting stuff together for the potluck at my work on Christmas eve, and wrapping all of the gifts that had finally arrived for a select few people I work with.

On Christmas Eve, I let Ty sleep in and I got the kids ready and got to work around 8:30. There was a quick potluck and we played in my office a bit, and walked around to talk to people. I left around 10:30 to get home. The kids had fun, but I really dislike the idea of my kids running around in a place of work, so it was short lived lol

That evening, we headed to Tyler's Aunt Moe's house for the usual Christmas Eve snacks and little gifts- We arrived there around 5:30 and left around 7:30. I left Garett there with Tyler for a bit longer, and Keira stayed up late (until 8:30).

Garett was home and in bed by 9:30 or so and we went in the hot tub quickly and then got to the Santa business. We were in bed around 11:00.

The kids woke up around 7:30 on Christmas morning, and we made coffee/hot chocolate and started opening the gifts. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient Keira was this year :) It was a great morning.

Once the kids were done opening, we had a quick breakfast and headed to Cornwall. They were excited to see my family :)

When we got there, we ran over to see my sister's new place while Keira played with my parents and then we went back over and had our big meal, put keira for her nap and did the gifts. Keira did hers when she woke up lol

The kids had a great time. We loaded up around 4:30 and headed home. Garett got to play with Cozmo for a while, and it was really neat!

Soon enough, it was bed time and I stayed up to move the table around and get the places set for the next day.

On boxing day, we got up around 8:00, I tidied up some presents and opened a few more boxes to get them out of the way. My in laws came around 10:00 and I made a breakfast casserole (with eggs, sausage, tater tots, bacon, etc), some extra bacon, French toast, regular toast, fruit salad and we ate around 11:00. We opened gifts and visited for a while. My MIL stayed for a nap afterwards (keira refused her nap that day) and Ty and her left for his uncles house around 3:00. I stayed with the kids since it was a lot of visiting over the last few days.

Ty came home fairly early , as he had to go into work early the next day. I took Garett into his Christmas break program at the school on the 27th, but kept him home with us on the 28th.

On the 29th, we went into town and picked up a bunch more paint for the house, and painted the trim and doors and walls in the toy room, and heavily shampooed the carpets. Good as new. Our friends Rod and Sharon came over that evening, and we made spaghetti squash Mexican burrito boats. They were good. The guys went in the hot tub for a while, and Sharon and I watched some wild life rescue show she likes. They left around 10PM.

Once Rod and Sharon were gone, we poured a glass of wine and went and completed our trip booking. This time we are going to Dreams Sand (In Feb)

On December 30, I was up bright and early, cleaned the kitchen, made the kids breakfast and started this delicious gnocchi vegetable cream soup. SO good. It was an Olive Garden copycat recipe, and it was a winner. The kids liked it too and it was full of celery and onion and spinach and shredded carrot, chicken, and potato gnocchi. Lots of goodness hidden in there.

I went into town for a few groceries also and invited our neighbour friends over for dinner, since they were just getting back from Disney, I knew they probably had no food in the house.

They came over around 5:00 and I had made a huge taco bar with salsa and guacamole and sour cream, lettuce, cheese, onions, tomatoes, soft and hard taco shells, etc. It was so good! And I had bought an apple pie from the bakery with ice cream. And little cupcakes for the kids. They ate and shared stories and were gone around 7:30

Around 10:00PM all hell broke loose in my house. From what I can only imagine to have been food poisoning of sorts because our neighbours suffered the same fate.

We had plans/reservations on NYE with them, so we cancelled for now (we will do it another night lol), and I was home from work. I have yet to eat anything other than dry toast THIS YEAR lol and pretty much slept for 36 hours straight.

Back to work today, feeling much better even though my back and ribs are still incredibly sore from how violent the illness was.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!!
Happy 2019!
