Life Lately Recap

Summer is in full swing, and things have been crazy busy.

Garett has been exercising some of his country-life independence, and getting second supper at neighbour/friends houses. He loves having so many good friends nearby!

We had some family photos taken in our yard, and I love all 465 of them! Here are a few:

The kids both had short illnesses. Keira had Strep Throat and was on antibiotics, went to the doctors with Garett and he didn't have it, but put him on meds anyways as a proactive measure. Back to healthy!

We went as a family to Mustang Club night. This time it ended in the east end (Orleans, yay!) so we went ahead to Wild Wing for some dinner first.

Then met up with the club and my mother in law next door at Marble Slab creamery (this was the night Garett was starting to not feel great- he didn't even want ice cream). We left very early to get him home to rest.

The next day, I kept Garett home and took him to the doctors. We went to Broadway's for brunch (obviously he was starting to feel better lol)

Tyler built the kids a big 8'x8' sandbox, and they have been in it constantly. Not pictured: 1.1 million more sandtoys.

They also have taken to painting with watercolours on their outdoor easel my parents got them. They have obviously since popped it, and the patches haven't been working. So, into the recycling this week!

The neighbours got together, had neighbourhood sitters and the adults went to the reception across the street from us two weekends ago. We all had a blast! They had the Smoque Shack food truck come and serve bottomless ribs, mac and cheese and poutine, open bar, free photobooth (where you text yourself the pictures) and lots of dancing! It was a great time.

Garett had an eye appointment, so we were off on July 31 morning together. His lenses are still perfect strength, and his eyes are doing well so the special ophthalmologist we have been going to referred him to another eye doctor moving forward as his eyes will likely only improve from here. He is only keeping patients that require potential surgery or have worsening conditions. We are sad to say goodbye to Dr. Bonn! He has been so wonderful.
We hosted our first annual "Wood-stock" gathering with friends/neighbours/some family. We figured out about 75 people or so came and went. Lots of bands got up to play a set, there were yard activities, garage activities,  lounging around, dancing, drinks, bbqing, snacking, etc. All in all it was great. It took me a long time the following morning to clean up the mess, but it could have been a lot worse! We already have the plans for next year in the works. They still haven't come to pick up the portapotty though, which is odd lol

While we were hosting, my parents took the kids for the day/night. I wasn't comfortable keeping them home with some people I didn't know, and so many people drinking. In hindsight, Garett probably could have stayed, but I'm happy Keira wasn't around- it was a lot, and it was loud. They had a blast at the camp instead.

See: Keira passed out in the car on the way home from Cornwall lol

After Keira's nap, we headed out to mini putt. Keira was pretty decent for not heeding any of our advice on how to hold her putter lol, and Garett was a rockstar. We will have to go back with just him. I strongly believe he would have beat both Tyler and I if we had been keeping score LOL.

We went to the chiptruck after the 18 holes and had some hot dog platters and slushies.

Summer camp hosted a Bike Rodeo day, where the police came and showed the kids bike safety, did obstacle courses, rode on their bikes, etc and  Garett's been wanting a bike with gears and shocks, and so Tyler bought one and surprised him at school with it. That smile says it all. Even though it was sprinkling out when we got home, he rode and rode and rode that bike. We took it around the neighbourhood too because he wanted to show all his friends. And he "parked" it somewhere it won't get wet lol.

This month I am pretty lonely in the office, but wearing so many different hats that it keeps me really busy, which I like!

Keira has her birthday party with the family on Saturday, so we are looking forward to that. I am picking up the grocery order tonight, and working from home tomorrow, so will start making food for Saturday- This year we are keeping it simple and I am saving a small fortune. Going to bbq and make all of the salads myself, bake her cake and decorate it myself. Matched with simple decorations and a pretty party dress. I bought her gift 10 months ago for much cheaper than it normally goes for using the Savings Guru facebook page that links you to things that are on sale! And I think she will have the same amount of fun as when they get $200 cakes and $1000 in decorations and food !

We are also supposed to be going out to our neighbours East Coast bands gig on Saturday night after the kids are in bed (he starts at 9:30), but not sure we will be up to it.

Sunday is my mother in laws birthday, so I imagine we will be going to Swiss Chalet or going to her house, even though we celebrated at Woodstock this past weekend.

The rest of August is already pretty packed also. On the docket:
August 16/17: Ty has gigs, so on the 17th, kids and I will head to Halloween at the camp to also celebrate my moms birthday
August 23/25: Cottage with Tyler's family
August 31-September 2: Trip to Vaughn with the kids
September 3: School starts for my big Grade 1 boy!

In between, I need to do all of the back to school clothes and supplies shopping, plan a dinner or date night out for our anniversary, plan my birthday (which will be at a gig late in September), get to service Ontario to renew my plates, license and health card stuff, etc etc...Always something on the go!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
