Slow Catch Up
Slowly, but surely, I am catching up.
At work, at home, in our social lives, in shopping etc
We have entered into the last little haul before school starts, when things typically begin to slow down. We have filled it with activities, which is fine; I would regret it and feel we wasted our summer if we did not.
Today I finally finished Garett's back to school supply shopping (I still needed to grab the binder and duotangs, and markers ,etc so I ran to Staples at lunch today). While I was there, there's a Winner's next door, so I grabbed his bookbag and lunch bag, and a bunch of tops for him also. I ordered his inside and outside shoes and most of his clothes online of Sportchek last week, so they should get here this week--sometimes they take a while to deliver, I find.
I also went on Amazon and ordered all new tupperware and ice packs, and started stocking up on snacks for our road trip.
We are driving to Vaughn and home with the kids August 31-September 2, and I am going to need some car ideas. Because I don't want them watching movies the whole time, I want them to do some interactive stuff. Mommas- give me some ideas on how to occupy kids for 6 hours. We are planning to make frequent stops, but still...
That weekend is also our wedding anniversary (coming up on 8 years married!) and we are hoping to do something fun in the weekend following that-take in a show at NAC or something.
We also need to book our trip in December still, are going to a cottage with Tyler's cousins this weekend, I need to get to Service Ontario to renew my plates and license, wanting to spend some time with my family, etc, etc..there just always seems to be alot that piles on around the end of summer!!
We have so many projects in the works at home too:
-poured concrete beside the garage, as we are building an offshoot for the garage (trying to find flashing (sp?) and roofing that matches the house. This will serve as a storage room for Tyler's work stuff to get it out of the garage.
-We poured a concrete pad under the garage propane tank, which is checked off the list now.
-We framed and poured a pad so we can build a woodshed to pile all of our firewood nicely in there and get it off the property.
-We have a pile of stuff to go to the dump and want to rent a machine to grab all of the random rotten brush that the last owner piled into our tree line.
-We are on the prowl for shutters (I think that's what the front of my house is missing to make it look homey).
-We ordered a custom made, hand carved and wood burned Harley Davidson bar made out of old whiskey barrels, which came last night and was assembled in the garage. However, we removed a wall of shelving and a ton of peg board, so we need to patch up the walls a bit and want to paint as well as build in a window casing since the last owners never did that.
-Still have to build our water fall, but the weather has been so unpredictable that it's pushing other jobs in front of that.
-They are FINALLY coming back to fix our AC tomorrow (Wednesday)
The push is on to get all of the outside stuff done before the weather gets crummy. Then we will focus on inside stuff.
This winter, on the list:
-Front hall work/paint
-Recarpet the basement
-Redo basement bathroom
-retile upstairs bathroom (shower and floors)
-refinish the rec room (wainscotting and rip out the cupboards)
Our friends up the road had a baby last week, and came home on Friday. So on Sunday, I went to see the baby and brought them some McDonalds to eat. Everyone was pretty sleep deprived over there, and big sister is feeling pretty lonely and acting out, so I left Keira at home with Tyler, and Garett and I took big sister out to the park closeby, and then we went to the dollar store and DQ for dinner. We drove around a bit listening to "party music" as she calls it, with the windows down. I had her out for about 3 hours, so hopefully they got some rest. But now Garett thinks this is an every night thing LOL
Plus, I am working on three different projects at work now, so even during the day I am all over the place. However, with summer time I have been sole point of contact, but I managed to catch up on everything and have a bit of downtime before I have to start the next round of craziness!
Happy Tuesday, all! Hopefully your brain is less scattered than mine right now! lol
