It has been so long since I have been able to sit down and actually write anything. Routine is starting to set in over here so life is going slowly back to normal (not that it will ever be normal or boring again now lol).

I've lost complete track of where I was in posts so I will just start from where I think of. I know I had said I would get pictures of the stuff I bought off of paper style.com for my cornwall baby shower, so I will start there!

There is a picture of the invitation itself--outside and inside, The thank you cards--outside and inside, The registry cards and I also had ordered some return address stickers but didn't put them on since they have my address on it lol.

Also a picture of the party favors I bought--little cardboard stoves with a cinnamon bun (candle) inside that says "bun in the oven" ...they were a big hit!

I have been off work since before Christmas so I was really ready when the time came for baby. The nursery was all ready for the munchkin! And we had my brother in law do some pictures for us to document :)

Before we knew it, it was time! We had spent 2 days before hand in and out of the hospital in early labour but not active labour yet. It was a rough few days of getting our hopes up and being let down having to go home again. The 24th of January I went in with some serious contractions about 5 minutes apart and I wasn't dilating passed 3cm so they gave me a shot of some amazing drug I forget the name of (the shot really hurt but it was well worth it) and they sent us to the early labour lounge to nap on the couch/lazy boys for a few hours and watch tv for a bit. When I woke up they checked me again and said I hadn't progressed, so back to Embrun we went! I decided while there was still some drugs in my system I would take a nap when I got home since it was a break from the painful contractions. Around 10:45am I woke up to a contraction and my water breaking. I called for Tyler and we were off again! This time we knew it was serious since my water was broken and contractions were about 1-2 minutes apart. Thank god Ty drove quick :)

Everything happened so fast after that. We rolled back up to labour and delivery and found out the doctor on call was delivering another baby so I couldn't get any drugs yet for any relief. They brought us right to the delivery room where we waited an hour for my epidural. In the meantime I was in extreme pain and the nurse felt bad for me so they gave me a shot of narcotics in my iv (this did nothing ) and then she gave me some nitrous gas (laughing gas) which also did nothing for me. By the time I got my epidural my contractions were almost constant (I'm lucky I was even able to get it by that point). Shortly after they checked me andni was at 7 cm. They said they would check me again in a few hours since it's generally an hour per cm. About an hour went by and I said please check me again, I am feeling a lot pressure and am really wanting to push. They checked and I was already at 9 and 3/4 cm. So the nurse got all ready and we started pushing very shortly after.

I have never been so scared in my entire life. I pushed a few times and she told me she knew in was "fake " pushing so to just giver lol. I figured I probably should since he had to come out one way or another :) so after a few pushes she predicted I would be pushing for aBout 2.5-3 hours basedon the progression of those pushes and that it's my first baby. I thought oh HELL no. So we started more pushing and she was shocked by how quickly I was working him out. Soon after they called dr.McCarthy to get there ASAP. A few pushes later after he got there he came out!

I will say labour is not without it's extreme insane mind numbing, seriously burning, curse word inducing pain, but the second Garett entered the world I forgot about it. It was worth it the moment I saw his face. All the morning sickness, uncomfortable nights, sock less winter days because it was too hard to bend over, food aversions, pregnancy brain, severe mood swings-- that was also worth it :)

Ty and I shared a cry, a few smiles and lots of kisses before they whisked Garett away to fix him up and get him ready to take back to the room while they did my 4 stitches and got me ready for family to come in and see our new addition.

It was a whirlwind and I can barely remember it but it was the greatest moment of my life by far. I am a mother now and I will never take that for granted or forget to cherish every moment.

Then came the hard part. Learning how to take care of this tiny human while I could barely move for 3 days. Thank GOD for Tyler. He did everything. Every feeding (I pumped at the hospital), every diaper change, all the cooking and cleaning and laundry. I have literally never loved him so much in my life. I have a whole new level of love and respect for him now.

Hard to believe this was all 7 weeks ago today and we are settling in nicely :)

After all of this we have decided we deserve a break soon down the line.
After finding out our friends Rod and Sharon won't be able to make a trip with us this year, we invited Tylers mom and step dad along as well as 2 other couples we have been looking forward to taking a trip with. So we set out to find where we want to go next. We settled on Cancun, Mexico to an adults/couples only resort. We decided we love the appeal of couples only since tints are a little more low key since our trip to the sandals resort in Cuba. It's much more expensive to go that route but it's well worth it! The resorts generally cater to more romance than a singles or family resort would. We chose The Sun Palace-- it looks amazing and we can't wait!!!! Going from November 30- December 7:)

Guess this entry needs to be wrapped up, Garett is up for his lunch :)
Hope everyone enjoyed theirlast few months and enjoy your st patty's day weekend!!! :)

  1. Nice to hear that you are in the swing of things...let me ask you? now that the awful labour part is over, do you forget about it? a lot of people ask me that and I had it easy for Maddy, I remember being like, don't ask me what its like cuz it was a breeze, but with Tanner, I still remember EVERYTHING and it has scarred me! LOL

  2. Lol I vaguely remember it. I was feeling so tired and out of it, like it was surreal. I know it hurt like a biatch but it was also totally worth it! The doctor told me my entire pregnancy and labour was completely textbook and that i got lucky too ( it was only 9 hours from the moment my water broke to when he made his entrance). I can't imagine anything hurting more than that did, but I can't imagine never doing it again either. Tyler is already talking about another LOL I'm about a year behind in that thinking! Hahaha
