Recap

You now what ? Time has a way of getting the best of me.
I really thought being back at work would make time slow down, but the days feel shorter now. I just cant seem to be able to find the time to be a working momma with a life and a blog, but here we are. 10:00 pm on a Thursday night, before a Friday I took off to get ready for my boys party:)

1 year. 12 months.52 weeks.365 days. I literally cannot believe it, as I replay those numbers through my mind at about 1,000 km/minute.

I'm not quite sure what happened to my 8lb babes, but he has turned into something far beyond what my wildest dreams could have imagined for myself.

Someone that laughs when you kiss his tummy, who dances around when he gets a bite off your plate, who waves hello and goodbye, even if you're not coming or going, who sleeps 11 hours a night solid in his crib, who squeals in excitement for every bath, loves to feed himself, play with his toys, sleep in the car, "sings" and dances to any tune that's on, and gives open mouth kisses. A little man that loves playing with other kids, runs for the vacuum and helps me push it around, who claps and gives high fives. He makes the sun and the moon come up, if you ask me. He is my son. He is turning one.

I never imagined the fullness and reason my life would take on. I can't even describe it. This weekend will prove to be emotional I'm sure, as I broke down in tears (not as dramatically as It sounds) when I purchased a candle in the shape of a "1". Calm down, mommy. There's many more numbers to buy to fill up those cakes in the future, I know....but ONE!!! Omg lol

A girl at work is getting ready to go on maternity leave and I can help but smile and just "know" what she's about to experience. I am so excited for her to welcome her boy, but am jealous of the year ahead--all the milestones and time she has with he boy to look forward to. But, I had that crucial time with mine already, and he's spreading his wings. And what a wide wingspan he has. He's going to be quite the popular, likeable little guy at daycare and school. The little girl already has a thing for him I realized as she sadly asked "but WHY does Garett have to go home now", when I picked him up yesterday and tenderly touched his hair....where I then screamed "BACK OFF!"... Just kidding...that's later I yell that at girls ;)

Anyways, this past weekend, a good friend of ours brought over a cake and her photography gear to do our cake smash shoot :) I got Garett the cutest little Thomas the train cake smash outfit (since that's his party's theme). Here are the teasers :

Love him.

He wasn't a huge fan of the mess or of eating the cake, but we managed. I smeared the cake on his face in that second pic. But it turned out well! He has a tng for balloons, so he was more interested in those lol.

Tomorrow we get to see the big two tier cake she's making us that I requested :) I'm excited to see how it turned out!

Saturday is his part-ya and I have some running around to do that morning so it will be an interesting day!!

Happy Robbie Burns day as well on Saturday for you Scott's.
