thanksgiving weekend recap

Where do I even begin with this beautiful long weekend we just had?
It was a gift in every way. The weather, the company, the events. It was very laid back and felt like I was running on my own time, which was amazing. So often I feel rushed on other peoples watches, and this was a wonderful break to that norm.

Friday I stopped in at the gym at 5 for an intense weight class. I was supposed to have a 9am class on Saturday too, but it didn't work out that way. We had plans to decorate the house for fall, and go to a jet trucks event (trucks with jet engines) with Garett (and his sound cancelling headphones, yes). Those plans all fell the wayside, and we filled our weekend with other things. The weather was so nice, we HAD to be outside.

So Saturday morning we were up bright and early. Tyler headed over to Russell to cut two jobs and seal one, so Garett and I played quite a bit, and then he went down for a nap, so Ty and I also took advantage and napped. We got up, got dressed and headed into town. We hit up a market for some fresh produce, went to the apple orchard and picked 13lbs of various types of apples for eating and baking, stocked up on apple cider and candy apples, and stopped at a pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins. Daddy pumpkin, mommy pumpkin and a Garett pumpkin.

On our way back home, we did a quick LCBO run and went to grab some beautiful steaks and some more food.

We unloaded the truck and Tyler cooked our steaks perfectly in a cast iron pan and I made some fresh green beans and some rice for sides. We had a glass of wine and watched the hockey game together. Garett sat in his Sens chair and played games on the ipad and we had a lot of fun playing and cheering until he went to bed. It was an early night for us all.

Sunday we were up around 7:30, and I baked an apple fritter cake, and we did some art and cleaned up around the house. I went back to the grocery store for a few things, and got some steals on some little house things for the kitchen. I also scored some pretty sunflowers that I felt brightened up my kitchen table :) Garett went for a three hour nap and I watched a movie and Tyler played some video games. When Garett woke up, Tyler ended up taking him in to his cousins house for a quick dinner to see the family, and I stayed behind and cleaned a bit more, refilled all of my scentsy warmers with fall scents, took a bath and relaxed! They were home around 7 or so and Shannon, Casey and Rylie joined not long after. We made some nachos, split 1.5 bottles of wine, visited, watched the game and listened to some music. We were in bed around 1 am and Garett decided to wake up and go in to visit Rylie around 7:15. So up and at 'em for us all!

Tyler had to be in town for 8, so he headed out, and Garett and I said our goodbyes to our visitors. We played outside a bit (it was SO nice out!), went for a nice walk and played in the house quite a bit. He went for his nap around 12:15 and had another three hour sleep. I took a shower, watched a movie and dozed off for about 20 minutes as well. (very productive morning, see ? haha). After Garett's nap, we packed up his bag and headed into town to Granny and Grandpa's house. Since Terry's daughters are in town, I assume this is why they decided to switch their dinner. It was a great time visiting with them, and Terry's Grandson Grayson was a real Garett magnet. Garett was so taken with him, and followed him around playing with him for the better part of the night (he's 10 and Garett really admired him). He did NOT want to leave, but around 7:30 we had to head out because it was quickly approaching his bedtime.

We got home, quick bath, and right to bed around 8:20 for him. He was pooped. He came walking into our room around 2:30 this morning, slept on me for 10 minutes and went back to his bed. It was a silent interaction, and it was very strange lol.

This morning was pretty difficult to wake up to. It was darker than normal because it was overcast, but the temperature was pretty nice. It was a quick drive in, and I'm ready for this 4 day week.

Also, 36 days until our trip :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving long weekend (Canadians anyways), and welcome back to the real world!
I had a post for what I'm Thankful for this year started, but it was getting a little too deep,so I saved the draft and walked away. I might tackle it again later on today.
