Weekend Recap

I am BARELY here today. It was harder than usual to get up, and pushed snooze two times more than usual. I must have sensed in my bones that this is the coldest October 19 ever in Ottawa. It was -10 with the windchill this morning. I don't like that the word "windchill" has re-entered into my vocabulary.

But back to it.

Friday, we didn't have to pick Garett up from daycare, because she was watching him for a few hours in the evening as well so Ty and I could get out for some alone time before the show. I went home, tidied up a bit, took a shower, got ready, laid out some PJ's for Garett and we were out the door around 5:15.

The original plan was to try the Cheshire Cat, since I have heard such wonderful things about it, and never eaten there. We pulled up to see a full parking lot, and cars lined up and down both sides of the road. Either there was an event, or it's just THAT good that it's so busy--the place can seat maybe 50 people. Insane. So we didn't even go inside to check on the wait time because we were both too hungry.

So we decided to head up to another area and try another restaurant on my list. We couldn't even get near Centrum, and by that time there was no doubt that it would be the same busy hub of activity in that restaurant. We decided to suck up the bill and eat at a restaurant at the Canadian Tire Center. We got there around 6:15, got a wicked parking spot, since we were there so early, and headed in. We were seated almost immediately (after going through the metal detectors in the restaurant lol).

We had a beer each, split some onion rings, each had an aged cheddar and bacon burger and fries, and Tyler had a caramel chocolate ice cream pie. The food tasted delicious, but was ALL luke warm (minus the pie), and took FOREVER to get our bill. We were less than impressed with our dinner, considering how expensive it is to eat there, and just went and found our seats.

We had good seats, but there was 500 reminders over the PA, the security people told everyone endlessly, and there were posters everywhere, and on the big screens--NO cell phones allowed. No cameras or recording devices allowed. If they see you with it, you WILL be ejected.

My first thought was ok that sucks because people have kids, and need their phones in case something happens. So I stuck it on vibrate and put it in my purse on my foot. It was new material, so he didn't want it to get leaked, which is fine. But then there was security EVERYWHERE kicking people out and shining flashlights into the crowds and stuff. It was VERY distracting at first. but we did our best to ignore them and just paid attention to the show. The openers were actually pretty funny (with the exception of one), and Kevin was hilarious also. It was a good show, even though it ran a bit late (oh yeah, they were like 40 minutes late starting). But all in all, it was a good time :) The person behind me had the greatest laugh ever, and made me laugh harder than I probably would have. The last 10 minutes of Kevins set had me legitimately laughing so hard tears were pouring down my face lol.

After that, we immediately left and managed to get from parking lot to house in 50 minutes (this is a feat, coming out of CTC and driving straight across town lol)

We said goodbye to reeann and went right to bed! Garett woke up around 7, and we laid in bed for a while with cartoons. Ty headed into town to work around 9. Garett had a nice long nap, and I intended on napping too, but then watched a movie and some tv instead (oops lol)

My SIL and nephew popped in for a visit, and Tyler came home, so we ordered in some food and relaxed for the evening.

Sunday we all slept in until 8:15 or so (we were all tired, I guess!), and then got up, had breakfast, went to check out the new Giant Tiger superstore that opened by our house, stopped at circuit city, and then went to the Bakery for some fresh olive bread, Ty wanted some gourmet donuts, a big sugar cookie for g (it was a puzzle piece and he ate some of it but mostly just liked holding it), and some pastry cream cone things for Ty also. The entire rest of the day consisted of laundry, naps, and relaxing.

We had a VERY laid back weekend, and is probably another reason I am feeling lazy today :)

Tonight is voting and my rebounder class, then the gym Tues, Weds and Thursday night, and girls dinner at East Side Mario's Friday night, followed by a store event (opening of the cantina) on Saturday. So it's a pretty hectic week ahead! I hope I can make it ! lol

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend :) And wasn't too cold this morning! I am off to order G some new winter accessories--socks, hats, mitts, boots--can never have too many when these things have a way of disappearing! lol
