Date day with Garett

One of the things on my "to do" list after I had Keira was to have a mommy/Son date day. I know he still gets plenty of attention , but other than errands, he doesn't get much. One in one time out in public with me. And it's different playing at home, than it is going out and finding common interests and relating to each other. He's my best bud, so I wanted to treat him to a day I knew we would both enjoy. I booked it so far in advance, that the night before I got so excited neither of us got any good sleep.

We started early on with a breakfast of his choosing. Toast with butter cut into special shapes, and a ton of cantaloupe. Soon enough he was done and we were out the door. It was a crummy snowy day, so I brushed off the car and away we went.

First stop was only a few blocks from the house so it worked out well. We got there in time to pick a spot, get his apron and hat on and colour a few pictures.

He was the instructors favourite kid (there were about 10 other kids and their parents there). He marched in, she said "hi what's you're name" and he said " I'm Garett. G-A-R-E-T-T" lol

Once we got started (30 mins later because there was one sink to wash all the hands in). We first made a heart shaped cherry tart/pie thing. He cut out his dough, stretched out the top piece, filled it, closed it up, made holes in the top, brushed on the egg wash and sprinkled some sugar in top. He was in heaven!

After those were in the oven baking, they gave each kid a chocolate and a vanilla cupcake, and since it was valentines themed, different Valentine's colours to ice with and a ton of candy and sprinkles to use. He chose simple jelly beans and sprinkles. Once they were done, they handed out our pies. He sat and ate the vanilla cupcake and we loaded up to head to Skyzone.

When we got to sky zone we were running about thirty minutes early, so they just switched our jump times. Someone told me only to buy 30 minutes, but I bought an hour. I'm so glad I did! He jumped the whole time and would have stayed longer if I let him lol. After , we grabbed some lunch for everyone and headed home.

It was such a fun day!! I love spending time with him, and hearing how much he is developing and changing. What a big boy :)

I will leave you with a few pictures from sky zone.

  1. That looks so fun! After spending the weekend with Sam alone I want to be sure to have Mommy/son dates too! So often you hear of Daddy/Daughter dates but I think its just as important the other way around too! xo
