Less than 7 weeks

You know what? Christmas still feels like it's a year away. Reality check: it's less than 7 weeks now.
We have been spoiled with amazing weather (sometimes rainy, but still better than snow!), and this morning was the first that actually made me realize how close it really is! (frost on the car, crisp air, seeing our breath, etc).

Soon, we will be knee deep in snow (and I will be dreaming about being "knee deep in the water somewhere" as per Zac Brown Band), and elbow deep in wrapping presents!

Yesterday I panicked. Being that I order ALL things online generally , to avoid PEOPLE and lines at the store, I like to give myself enough time to ensure that things even ordered from Zulily arrive in plenty of time.

So I did it. I hammered out both kids lists--ALL DONE Keira and Garett. I only have one thing left to buy for my niece/nephew (Tyler does the shopping for his side since there's more people to buy for there), and I got all of the teachers/ECE's done. All I have left from my list is our daycare provider and the "secret" gift we won at my family's Christmas last year (the one we wrap many times and take turns unwrapping one layer at a time). Tyler and I are going to treat ourselves to something nice during boxing day sales (perhaps new ipads, a new tv, another android box, a Roomba or a Dyson--something like that) instead of buying for each other and wasting money on things we don't really need. Though I still want to buy one thing I've had my eye on for him and G. So Santa may drop that off unbeknownst to Tyler ;)

I LOVE this time of year, and I love when I feel settled and on top of the ball. Then I can just sit back and enjoy my new Hanson Christmas album, hot chocolate, wrapping presents, decorating, baking, fireplace and Netflix, etc....annnd now I want to go home and do all of those things. 47 Days!!

  1. Thank you for reminding me of all the reasons I LOVE this season! A lot of my holiday parties this year seem to be landing end of Nov, early Dec, and a couple of them I've offered to host...so I've been kind of panicking about having enough time to decorate/bake/shop over the next couple of weeks...plus making sure I don't blow the budget completely. eeek! Kind of stressful! It's my favourite time of year, I need to come up with some lists and plans to help me organize and decrease the panic. Because all those things you listed? Listening to your fave Christmas music, hot chocolate, wrapping presents, baking, fireplace, Netflix... I can't WAIT for those things!!!!

  3. Oh I'm so jealous you have so much done! ha ha! I am panicking because if baby arrives close to Christmas I want to be DONE! So my first goal was to be finished buying November 1st and now I'm gonna say Nov. 30! ha ha!
