Life Lately

This time of year , I always feel like I'm spiraling out of control, unable to keep up with my personal life/social life/work life. So this little nook (my blog), always kind of takes the backseat to everything, even though I do love coming here to document stuff to look back on later/for the kids to look at when they're all grown up and be more connected to me/know what my day to days were like. So, oops!

Garett:
-only has 4 more swimming lessons at the Salamander Level, and then he will become a starfish.
-only has 3 more Canskate lessons as well before he graduates to the next level. He is doing so well, so I said once he has perfected his skating, he can start hockey.
-I signed him up for Basketball Lessons that start in January, for nine weeks. He has been asking for this for quite some time, and being that he's four now, he can partake.
- Signed him up for a 7 week introductory Martial Arts class that will start as soon as the instructor lets me know which class he should be placed in. If he decides he likes it, then he can sign up for the 6 months.
-His first "report card" (initial comments) was sent home from School. And we had a parent/teacher interview two weeks ago. The teacher couldn't get over how smart he is, how well-spoken he is, how "eloquent" he is. He is constantly craving more engagement/learning, and how he brings a very special dynamic to the class. He is a true pleasure to have in the room, and sits quietly and attentively during story time/instructions, and has really settled into the classroom environment. I mean, I knew he was a good boy, but them affirming that made me so , so proud (of him AND us as parents haha). Shoot for the stars, buddy!
-He has a Christmas party coming up, and Tyler will take him by himself , since he missed the Halloween party. I will stay home with Keira :) They will have pizza and juice, and I got him the "passport to fun" ticket, so he can play unlimited games/activities/crafts. The boys are looking forward to it. We have donated two games from Tyler's store to their classes basket--each glass assembles a themed basket to raffle off at the party.
-Also a Christmas concert coming up, so I will be off that afternoon to go watch him perform. I cannot wait to see what his class performs :)
- His shirt for Santa pictures came in last night, so we can get the kids dressed up and head over soon. Just have to review the schedule for our favourite "Santa".
-I think we will host his birthday party at SkyZone this year, since there will be more kids than before, and I found last year was a little unmanageable in our house with all the loudness/mess afterwards. Garett approves this idea haha

Keira:
- I know Garett was a smart/advanced infant, but she is surprising us everyday. They say girls are more advanced than boys, and she is proving that correct. I should have known, when she took her first really SOLID steps (and hasn't crawled since), two days shy of turning 9-months-old, to never question her lol. She is SO smart, and I'm not just saying that in an annoying braggy way. She can count to five (then immediately jumps to nine lol), she repeats EVERYTHING, and knows at least 40 words to speak. Obviously no full sentences (she's 15 months old lol), but she says things like "I want"/ "Give that",  "Up please" or "all done". She knows the names of some shapes (circle and rectangle), She knows the sounds that many animals and objects (cars, trains) make, and can follow two step commands. She loves to sing along to songs, and dances her little bum off.
-She eats any and everything. Garett wasn't picky, but she is even less picky. She is such a good girl. But she gets into moods where she is either upset or hyper and she screams in this high pitched tone--I have to figure out how to stop that, or we will all be deaf soon LOL
- She settled in SO well to daycare. We have an amazing care provider, and she runs to hug the kids, care provider and the care providers husband and three boys every morning. They love having her around, and I can't blame them.

Tyler:
-Season for his concrete company is wrapped up. It was a great year! It was also the first year he wasn't begging for the season to be over, lol. He gets so tired usually around September, but this year he was having too much fun with all the ClifRock work he had.
-Store is doing well. It is running a lot smoother since it was relocated, and it's not requiring so much of his time/attention (which I obviously like)
-All of the trucks are fitted up with their plows and the salter. Now that the trucks are on for commercial salting and plowing, they bring in a lot more money than the residential runs. Bring on the snowy/slippery winter! haha
- Finished off building our bar. He broke down the wood pallets that our Blazing Beats came on, and stained them with TEA. Then he put it along the front of the bar, and trim and it looks AMAZING. I love it! He also put up a shelf above the washing machine, repositioned the basement furniture to make more room, fixed the kitchen faucet, etc, etc..it's nice having him around the house during the day when everyone else is gone--I just give him a to-do list, and he does it!
- He's been playing with a few new bands, and is having a lot of fun. He only takes one gig a month (sometimes not even), and only does good paying gigs now. It's nice that he picks and chooses, he gets to do something he loves, and its only after the kids are in bed for the most part, so he isn't missing much at home. He is so quick to tell me to go do things for "me", so I feel like he has earned me telling him to do the same.

Me:
- Was really struggling after the time change. I find I was feeling so depressed in the evenings, so I bought some Vitamin D supplements, and it's really helping. I take one pill a day around dinner, and I find it is really helping! I have more energy and am generally more pleasant. It could be psychological, but I think it works anyways! haha
- Lots of Christmas events coming up at work, and trying to figure out how to get out of going to half of them lol. I hate when they plan things down in the market, or at Lansdowne, etc. It makes it difficult to get home at a decent time.
-REALLY looking forward to my 11 days off around Christmas.  Garett will be home with me, but Keira will be at daycare for the most part, so him and I can do some fun stuff!
-I signed up for the gym with Shan, and we have only gone twice last week, but I am starting to feel better already--also watching what I eat, cut out pop, for the last week, and it's already feeling good to be back at it.
-We booked our trip. We had a VIP week to use with our membership--so that locks us in for $1600 for the both of us for the resort, and we got an ok deal on Flights, so off we go! We will be going to Secrets Capri (in Riviera Cancun) in March. I bought some new swimsuits on the black Friday deals, and have been looking through excursions I want to do. SO excited. And our friends TJ and Jami will be coming , and are on the same flights. We got them an amazing deal with our Unlimited Sharing prices, so it should be a good trip!

What's up with all of you? I need to get out of this every two week posting rut, and get back on the regular!
