*Weekend Recap

We actually had a really nice weekend!

Friday after work, we went home and cooked some dinner (just made some pizzas with the kids), filled an entire Rubbermaid bin of Water Beads (Orbeez) to soak overnight, and our friends Rod and Sharon came over. We had done a little Christmas get together with them previously, but gifts came broken and we all had to return things and do a re-do. They just got back from a trip to Jamaica, so it was nice to catch up with them again. I drank some wine, and the boys had some scotch after the kids were in bed. They were gone by 9:30, so we watched an episode of Black Mirror (and this episode was scary!!!), so we were in bed by 10:30.

Saturday, the kids slept in until 7:45, and we got up, and Ty made a big breakfast of bacon and hashbrowns, eggs and toast, and then the boys took off to go to Garett's basketball lessons from 9-10. They came home and we all played and tidied up until Keira's nap around 12:50. Garett played with his ipad and dozed off in our bed, and Tyler and I dozed off as well. Tyler got up first and grabbed his shower, then Garett woke and I took my shower around 3:30. I laid out the kids pjs, wrote out instructions, made some dinner, put out snacks and got ready. The twins got to our house to watch the kids at 5, so we headed out.

We went out to Big Easy's in Little Italy--it's a steak and seafood house (New Orleans inspired). So we sat at the bar until our reservation at 6:30. I had a Caesar and Tyler had a martini and I had a crab cake, and Tyler shoved 12 oysters into his belly lol. Tyler tried a nice bourbon (and liked it--last time he hated the one they poured him). After this, we switched to our cozy booth for the rest of the evening.

We split a seafood "fondue" which was just different breads with shrimp, scallops, calamari and mushrooms in a delicious cheese sauce. I ordered a glass of reisling and Tyler had a small red wine with dinner. For the mains, we both  had the same thing! lol Crab crusted beef tenderloin steak (both ordered medium, but Tyler had the 8 oz and I had the 6), with seasonal veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. You guys, my stomach is rumbling already thinking about this again. The food was to die for.

We were both super full after this, but we decided to end the meal with a cappuccino and two desserts--Tyler got the sticky toffee cake, and I got the vanilla bean crème brulee. We ate until we almost threw up lol. We lounged around for about an hour after the meal just talking and letting everything settle for a bit. It was snowing quite a bit, so we slowly made our way home. We were home by 9:15 lol. Tyler drove the girls home, and I got an episode of parenthood queued up for us. We were asleep by 11.

Sunday morning the kids slept in until 7:30, and we had easy breakfasts of cereal and fruit and yogurt. We played in the house all morning, and had Zootopia on the tv while Tyler went out from 8-10 to go to the outdoor shooting range with a friend. Keira went to go for her nap at 12:45, and the boys headed out to go swimming from 1-2:30. Keira napped until 4 though, so Garett relaxed in our bed with the ipad, and I got all the laundry put away. Once Keira was up, I started dinner (a meat sauce and tomato and macaroni casserole with cheese on top), and we also ordered in some poutines from The Great Canadian Poutinerie, since Tyler's friend raved about it all morning. It was so-so lol.
We did baths and bedtime early since the kids were tired, and Keira was in bed at 7, garett was shortly behind her at 7:15. We put Friends on, I had a bubble bath, and we laid in bed and read until about 10:30 before shutting the light off.

This morning I slept in until 6:35 (usually I wake at 6:10), and quickly got ready, put Garett's valentines stuff in a bag to send (they hand them out tomorrow) and put his lunch in his backpack, and we were out the door around 7:20. Traffic was brutal because of two small accidents west-bound they were cleaning up, so I only made it to work around 8:10. Should be a pretty quiet week here, so I may get some errands done on my lunch hours, or maybe meet Tyler for some lunch dates :)

This is a pretty busy week- Tyler has rehearsal today (though I think it's in the daytime) for the country band, valentine's festivities with the kids, swimming lessons on Wednesday evening, Tyler has a rehearsal with the Disco band on Thursday evening, and Friday he is home with Keira, since daycare is closed. He has his first estimate of the season on Friday morning, so Keira will likely go to my inlaws for an hour or two. Saturday is basketball lessons in the morning, and deciding if we are going to the Elton John Tribute show with that other couple. Sunday should be quiet, and Monday is family day--I booked it off, and we will all be home, so hoping we can get out and do something fun in the morning before Miss K has her nap :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Happy Monday!
