Weekend Recap

This seems like it was a weekend of food, lol. The weather was garbage, and we had no real plans formulated at the beginning, which was nice!

Friday after work, Tyler picked up Keira and I grabbed Garett, and we went immediately to the grocery store. I picked up a bunch of fresh ingredients for our dinner that night. We have fallen out of the habit of nice Friday night dinners. We used to (pre-kids) go out for a nicer meal once a week, and since Garett, we still did it (less frequently), but with Keira and the kids going to bed so early, we can't make it out for dinner with them often, so we started this routine. Usually it would be steak or something we normally wouldn't have on weeknights. But lately, it's fallen by the wayside and we have been ordering in instead. I am sick and tired of ordering in and spending so much money on garbage food!

So I grabbed some Alaskan king crab legs and brushed them with garlic and butter and parsley and cooked them in the oven--brushing them every few minutes, and made some garlic butter on the side to dip the meat in (obviously). I made some roasted brussel sprouts, and roasted some garlic at the same time to add to the mashed potatoes. I made some red lobster cheddar biscuits to go with it as well. We didn't have any wine or anything with dinner, but I made the kids some Annies mac and cheese and peas mixed in, and they ate not at the table with us. Garett set the table with the cutlery and placemats and plates (he sat tyler and I right next to each other as opposed to across the table LOL), and put our cups out for us as well. I had bought a small half cake of a chocolate banana cake, and little mini strawberry shortcake cupcakes for a treat for the kids. It was a nice night :) The kids were immediately ready for bed after dinner, so we watched a few episodes of Parenthood and hit the hay also.

Saturday morning, we made a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs and strawberries and then Garett and Ty went out for his basketball lessons, and were out for quite some time running errands. Shan and Casey and Rylie and shannons cousin Emily popped in to drop a glass of for Ty, and we visited for a bit-Ty and Garett came home so the kids could all play and then we made dinner plans for the evening.

They came back around 5 ish and we had some dinner-- They had made a potroast, and Tyler had bought some steaks for us (just metro ones and they were AWFUL lol!), I made a ton of garlic sautéed green beans, some potato latkes out of leftover mashed potatoes, warmed up the left over cheddar biscuits, caramelized some onions and threw in some mushrooms to soften. Shannon had brought one of those herbed baby potato kits, so we made that as well, and ate lots!  The kids went to bed shortly after that as well, and we played some games tyler picked up from his store.

#1 we tried the Family Guy Stewies sexy party game. I think this game is trying to hard. It's kind of like mad libs, but less funny, and the situations they give make no sense, and the scoring method is stupid.
#2 we played  WAZABI- a dice game that is quick play. We weren't sure to begin with, but we ended up playing this for quite some time.

Once we were done with games, we had some more drinks and the girls visited while the guys watched youtube videos, until we were all ready for bed. Everyone was gone by 1, and we went straight to bed. Keira is cutting ALL of her eye teeth right now, and this was the first night it was really bugging her (they're RIGHT there at the gums. I can't wait for the point to come through--come on!). So she was up a number of times after everyone left.

The kids were both up at 6:15 on Sunday--I was pretty exhausted.
We were supposed to have everyone back over for breakfast, but then the kids were starving super early, and Emily was heading back home and it was freezing rain, so I went ahead and cooked up another feast. I made a type of frittata with some toasted panko crumbs on top, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast. After I was all cleaned up and got the kids squared away (Garett is a slowpoke eater and keira hammers her food down and then wants down from the highchair and tries to go over to garetts plate and eat his also--even if she had two entire portions! I have to watch her. she will eat and EAT). Casey came back just to pick up the car after, and I put Keira for a nap while Tyler took Garett to practice his swimming lessons stuff at the pool.

Keira napped until 4 (I had a short 20 minute nap also), and I did all the dishes, a few loads of laundry, sorted all of the piles and piles of clean stuff to put away tonight, scrubbed the bathtubs and bathroom counters, changed the kids bed sheets, vacuumed upstairs and reswept/mopped downstairs on the mainfloor. I was POOPED.

Once the boys came home, and we were all settled in playing, we put on a movie for the kids and I made some dinner--chicken souvlaki with tzatziki, leftover re-sautéed green beans and the mini potatoes, and I made some rice in salsa. It was pretty good. The kids gobbled it up, and I made lunches for G and I and we went up to give them baths. I laid out everyone's clothes, and put Keira to bed while Tyler put Garett down.

Once they were in bed, Tyler ran me a nice bubble bath (without me asking! lol), so I soaked in there for a while. My legs were really hurting from sitting on the floor around the coffee table for so long playing games on Saturday night, so this was just what the doctor ordered :)

We stayed up and watched some Kitchen Nightmares episodes until almost 11. Keira had another not-so-great night (I meant to give her some Motrin before bed, but forgot), but we made it through lol.

This morning the kids both woke together at 6:20, I got ready, made garetts breakfast, warmed up his lunch for his thermos, packed his backpack, and Ty got Keira ready. We got dressed and all left at the same time.

It was a beautiful morning. too bad it took over an hour to get to work LOL.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Happy Monday.
