Easter weekend recap

It was a very quiet, extra-long weekend ! 

Friday night we were supposed to go out, get a sitter and go watch Tyler’s cousin on his solo gig. We had lots to celebrate. Shannon got her French levels, and I got a promotion, and many job offers/invites to more processes to write exams—it was a “hopping” short week. But we decided to be financially savvy and cancel the sitter—each night we don’t go out, we save $60 on the sitter, $40 of Uber’s, and whatever our food and drink tab would have been. So Tyler went out for a bit to watch (after the kids were in bed), grabbed  some food and came home. We watched some tv and went to sleep. 

The kids were pooped from their corresponding Easter parties. It wasn’t bad to get them down, though Garett insisted he would not be able to sleep because he was so excited for Easter at my parents the following day lol

Saturday we all slept in until about 7:30. We were on the road by 8:15, stopped for gas and Tim hortons for the ride and were in cornwall around 9:30. Keira went down for a nap and the older kids did the big hunt. We had Chinese food and pizza and played a lot. Tyler ended up bringing a bag of stuff I packed from Garett’s cubby at school and forgot it there (because he wasn’t supposed to bring it lol). We were on the road around 3:45 and made pretty good time on the way home because there was hardly any traffic. Garett passed out sleeping as soon as we got off my parents street , and slept the entire way home, while Keira clapped and sang along to ALL of the music. Insert a few high pitched squeals also, when a song she knew came on. She is my child. 

That evening, tyler sold all of his paintball gear (bye ENTIRE corner of “stuff” from the basement). We are really thinning out stuff we don’t need/use. I don’t want to have to move everything in this house when we go. We have TOO MUCH. I also ran to the dollar store and grocery store that evening and the kids were fed, bathed and in bed by 7:15. 

Garett came down (which he NEVER does) , while I was putting out eggs. Luckily he was half asleep and didn’t register. So then we took turns sitting guard at the top of the stairs , with no bathroom breaks (it literally happened in the 2 mins tyler was in the washroom —close call!). Once everything was out, we shut off all of the main floor lights (Garett would never go down the stairs if it was pitch black), and we retired to the basement, turned on the fireplace and ate some snacks while we watched “Bad Moms Christmas” lol wrong holiday , but we have not had a chance to watch it sans kids yet.  We went to bed immediately after. 

Sunday morning, Garett was up at 6:20 and was very patient since Keira didn’t wake until 7:15. The hunt was done by 8am, and all the gifts were opened, put away in a spot and recycling broken down by 8:30. Made the kids some breakfast and we relaxed a bit. Garett and Tyler met our friends at the wave pool for some fun /burn some energy. Garett was unstoppable once he put on a lifejacket. Jumping off the big diving boards and everything ! They went over to my mother in laws after for a visit, while Keira napped. And my parents took a ride to my place to drop off that bag of Garett’s stuff :) so I got another little visit in with them. 

About an hour after they left, the boys came home and Keira woke shortly after that (slept for over 4 hours lol). I thinned out the stuff the kids don’t play with from their bedrooms and put it in a Rubbermaid to get rid of. We ordered in some pizza pizza and watched Star Wars : the last Jedi. (Or some of it anyways). The kids had a quick snack before bath and bed , and once they were in bed, tyler wrote up some estimates and I fell asleep really early and slept for like 10 hours haha. Keira, even after her 4 hour nap, went to bed at 7:15 and slept until 7:30 this morning. That’s my girl lol

Today was another lazy day. We cleaned all the car seats to get rid of that I had stored in the garage. Freeing up an ENTIRE shelf in there lol (hoarders) and we just played ! Lots! Keira went down for a nap around 12:45 and slept for around 4 hours. Garett built LEGO, played on his iPad, and had endless nerf fights in the basement with daddy. They went to the grocery store and Home Depot , and we washed my old Barbies (the bin hadn’t been opened in god knows how long, so I wanted to clean them before Keira is allowed to play with them), and vaccuumed the basement. 

I love extra long weekends, but looking forward to a new (Short) week, my new position, and all the fun that the next few months will bring !!
