Life Lately- TGIFriday
I am so happy to see another weekend come to a close. Especially this week.
POINT FORM:
-I am happy to be done with writing work exams and inbox exercises for now. I made it into a few pools, got my promotion, and am waiting to be appointed.
-I registered for another course at Carleton (Psychology of Motivation and Emotion), and am excited to start on May 7.
-Garett went to the museum of nature with his class on Wednesday (and got to ride on the school bus for the first time ever ...he was beside himself with excitement). Tyler left his business card with them the day before, because with the weather, he was able to volunteer after all, but they mentioned they were all full with volunteers , but would call if he was needed. Someone that had volunteered never showed up, so they gave him a last minute call, so he got to go. I am so jealous :(
- I am loving the "milder" weather (It's crazy its mid march, and still no relief in sight). We have started up our evening family walks. Garett either walks with us, or rides his bike, or takes his tractor for a spin. Keira always chooses to be in her bike thing over her stroller, or alternatively being towed in the back trailer of garetts tractor LOL (which she loved last summer, but is too nosey now to do this, I think).
-We had BIG plans to rake the backyard this weekend to get all the dead grass off of the top, and throw some seed on all over. But with the SNOW that we are going to get, I don't think that's a bright idea at this point.
-1.5 more weeks until our store buyer has a meeting with his bank to go through final numbers! I cannot wait one.second.more. As soon as we sell, we will keep a more active eye on the real estate market. Ideally, being settled into a new place before next school year begins. Here's to hoping. It's hard waiting, but that sale will change the house we buy. So I am biding my time :)
- We recently traded in our black F150 for a brand new white 150, and Tyler is loving it. White is one of the company colours, so it makes more sense, I guess. We offloaded the 250 because it received pretty extensive damage over the winter that would have completely negated the money it brough in over the winter from its plowing runs, and that truck didn't make enough money over the winter to really justify keeping it running. So we cut our losses there. We didn't owe much on it anymore, so it's just one less thing out of pocket bi-weekly! Plus the 550 is the only truck required to get things done. A little bit of a relief for Ty!
- This weekend, we are supposed to be going to Tyler's aunts for Easter. But it may be cancelled if the weather takes a turn for the worst. Which it doesn't look like it will right now, but who knows. A lot can change in 24 hours!
-I submitted all of my leave I need over the summer, and our December trip, and still have two weeks left of vacation to use up over the year. I hit my new vacation increment, and loving it! I've been permanent for 8 years! (3 months at the beginning was a contract before they hired me indeterminately). Happy anniversary to me lol
- We booked our girls weekend trip! We are heading to my original hometown (lol) of Gananoque for two nights! We have many plans that include a tour of the brewery, live music by the marina, maybe a boat cruise, maybe the casino, some shopping, and lots of dining and drinks will be enjoyed by all. This is our first time doing it at a hotel, and I am excited to see how it works out! I like cottages enough, but with going in the summers with the kids now, I wanted to try something different, and plus this allows everyone to book their own (easier financially than someone putting down a couple grand upfront and depending on everyone to send you the money, or if someone bails, others having to pay more on top). I'm excited to not lug car loads of groceries out too! We will see how it goes! This could be a new tradition, and just hit up little small towns all over, closeby!
-I ordered and received the kids new spring rain gear, and summer hats.
-I have a big list of other things I need to take the time to go get or shop for online (summer wardrobes for the kids and I, new shoes/sandals for summer months for the kids, bathing suits/watershoes, vast amounts of sunscreen for everyone, etc etc.)
-We signed Garett up, starting July 3, all the way until August 31 for summer day camps at kids kingdom. Worked out well that it is close to Keira's daycare, so morning drop offs will be even easier, and for the $50 a day, we don't have to pack him a lunch or any snacks for the entire summer (they feed them on site from their cafeteria breakfast, lunch and snacks!), plus they have guest speakers in once a week (little rays, firemen, policemen, balloon artists, etc), unlimited access to the play zone, and they have picnics outside, etc. He is VERY excited, and we are now counting down the days until school is over so he can go to summer camp. WHAT HAPPENED that this year went fast enough that we are planning for this stuff already!?
-The kids are both going to the ophthalmologist in May. garett, to check on the status of his eyes, and probably get new frames and lenses (I personally think he is outgrowing his current frames), and we got a referral from our Doc for Keira, because tyler noticed something (I don't see it, but the doctor agreed, and so she will come too), so maybe some cute little glasses for her too! I have been putting Garetts (lens-less) frames from his first glasses on her to practice, and she LOVES loves wearing them. "GASSES!!!" she always exclaims when she puts them on lol.
-The derby is coming up. Trying to figure out if I am going to take the Friday off to be alone and get a mani/pedi and maybe a massage while the kids are at their places, or if I just rush before and after work to drop them off and pick them up. decisions/decisions!
-Keira's birthday party planning just ramped up yesterday, when I ordered her birthday cake. Still have to order everything else (invites, décor, thank you cards, figure out food, and her outfit), but less pressure on these birthdays because they're just immediate family parties when they're so little, so I don't have to worry so much about favours for so many kids, doing things to entertain kids, etc! Garett has asked for his next party to be LASER TAG lol. I'm excited....his birthday isn't for 9 more months LOL.
- I really want to book two days off to stay home and "death clean" my house. I started a new book about this Swedish tradition, and I am obsessed with the idea (it's all about keeping your house full of minimal things--only things of the utmost functional use and sentiment to you), and clearing out any and ALL junk/build up of "stuff" that your family would have to deal with at your potentially untimely demise. Is it morbid? yes. Do I want to make sure it's done, and that we never have SO much stuff for our family (whenever we leave this planet) to deal with? yes. Do I think EVERYONE should do this? Yes. Think about it--what is the LAST thing someone wants to do after a loved one passes? Go through their stuff, and throw it out. Holy, guilty conscience. So I'm just saving my kids that pain in the future, but keeping this up forever. And going through the brunt of it now, while we are all still able-bodied :) Plan : in motion. Plus, I don't have that much "stuff" right now, so it's more like thinning things out now, and getting things organized (photos, etc).
-I think that's about it on my end! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
