Long weekend recap

We had such a great long weekend, I hate to see it end, but next weekend will be fun too!

On Friday, I left work around 2:00, went and did a bit of shopping, stopped for gas and headed home. Garett had a PD day from school, so he was with the Early Learning Center on their field trip to Proulx farm. They did corn mazes, tractor rides, etc and picked a pumpkin to bring home. "I picked the biggest one I could carry!" he exclaimed as he ran in the door lol.

I ordered in Pizza and chicken nuggets/ fries and the twins were at our house around 4:45. TJ and Jami stopped by to get us around 5:00 and we headed downtown. Before we left, in true fall fashion, I had a little sip of this.

When we got there, our dome was not yet ready, so we sat around the fire and I had two of the Scoffau drinks (which is bitters, whiskey, lime, champagne or something). It was very good! Our other couple arrived, and we visited until we were seated (we were visiting here for about 45 minutes)

Around 6:45 we were seated. What a beautiful night! The ambiance was so incredible, and the food was amazing. I didn't get pictures of the food.

1) Appetizer  was a piece of tofu with a cumin and coriander glaze, with some lemon grass and a fried lemon bulb. The tofu and glaze were good. I could have done without the lemon bulb (mine was big and it was a little too bitter for me).
2) Soup course was amazing. We received a bowl with mushrooms, a coconut milk puree and a bunch of fresh mint and parsley. The waitress poured a hot mushroom broth on top that was infused with fresh ginger. It was amazing. each sip tasted different. It was spicy and savoury and sweet. We all had a second helping of the broth lol
3) Main Course ( we all selected Meat, but you could pick vegan or seafood also). Main was big piece of roast beef on a bed of mashed potatoes with brussel sprouts chopped up inside and mixed in with some duck confit). It had watercress greens on top and the most amazing au jus
4) Dessert was a peach crème pana cotta with sweet peaches on the bottom, then the pana cotta with a slight bitter puree of peaches on top. Topped with some chocolate biscuits, thin peach sliches and a raspberry chocolate wisp.

Tyler and I split on a bottle of gewürztraminer Reisling the other couples also shared their own bottles.

Afterwards, we walked around on Elgin and stopped in at Deacon Brodie's Pub on Elgin for a few drinks. Tyler and Ken had the whiskey flights, TJ had a coffee and Bailey's and the girls split on a 80oz mini keg of the Blonde Ale.

We were home and in bed around midnight.

Saturday morning, Garett was up at 5:45, so up we got. We lugged some boxes downstairs, and got ready, packed the kids up and were on the road to Cornwall. We arrived around 10, I think. We visited for a bit, and then the boys all went to the campsite while I put keira for her nap at 12:15. She passed right out, and woke around 2:45. Everyone else showed up around 3ish and we consumed a meal fit for a king that my mom prepared :) Keira ate that entire plate of food below, a plate of mac and cheese, a piece of cake and then sat on my lap and ate half of my pumpkin pie slice! lol She was a hungry girl.

After dinner we visited for a bit and played, and we headed out around 5:15. Got home around 6:20, bathed the kids and off to bed they went!

Sunday, I was up bright and early. I went to the grocery store as soon as it opened to get some stuff for the week, and pick up a few cases of pop for the McCann dinner. Tyler went out for a ride in the afternoon with his cousins husband Rob, and Shannon and Casey picked up Garett to go ahead to Moe's house to play while I was home and Keira napped. I grabbed a quick snooze, got ready and headed over around 4:30 when K was up and ready! Tyler was pulling in at the same time (good timing). It was SO SO hot inside of the house (as per usual when 50 people are jammed into a place with the stoves on lol). So we spent most of the time outside with the kids playing and visiting with people out there. We went in to eat. Garett cleaned off his plate, Keira ate most of hers and then sat with Val and ate hers too lol. Shortly after dinner, I took the kids home (around 6:20) with Ty shortly behind me.

We put the kids to bed, and a couple of the cousins stopped in. We played What do you Meme that Shan brought, and had a couple drinks (we emptied a couple of the almost empty bottles, so now we don't have to move it!). We were in bed around midnight again.

Monday was a great relaxed day. I packed the kids closets (only left out enough clothes for what they need until Sunday), boxed up everything else in their rooms, bagged up all of the hangers and left out only my clothes until Sunday. I packed our closet aside from Ty's clothes, the master bathroom is all emptied pretty well, and the nightstand on my side of the bed. I packed up another box in the kitchen (I have one or two boxes left of last minute stuff there), and did the front hall closet as well. Tyler finished off the basement just about.

Here is what my living room looks like currently.

Tyler went to sign another contract around 5:30, so I made some chili, and the kids gobbled it up (no pun intended), and warmed up the leftovers from Moe's and we ate that also. The kids had their baths and went to bed around 7:15 (even though keira napped until almost 5 lol).

Today Garett has lunch lady again (tacos and veggies), and tomorrow evening we have an appointment to sign everything at the lawyers. Thursday is beavers. Friday we get the keys for the house (we are both off) and I will bring all of the art and garbage bags to the new house. We have to move the murphy bed  to the basement  (pray for us), and Saturday morning we start the move at 9AM. So will need to dismantle the beds as soon as the kids get up. I'm not stressed at all, why do you ask? lol

Hope you all had a wonderful long Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by love!!
