Weekend Recap
Another crazy busy weekend has come and gone. This one, I feel like I need a day alone at home to recuperate from; I am so tired. Also ZERO housework got done this weekend, aside from laundry (which isn't put away), a clean dishwasher that isn't put away, a toy room I partially organized, and rugs were put into the kids rooms.
On Friday, I went home right after work (shout out to my amazing husband that went to the grocery store so I wouldn't have to), and as soon as I pulled in, Casey and Rylie and Shan shortly after arrived, so I tried to get my life together, but everything was quite chaotic lol. I made a creamy bacon broccoli pasta thing, which I doubled, but then didn't double the rest of the ingredients LOL oops, and some garlic parmesan puffs. It was still not bad, but I was flustered after my day already. Our friends up the road and their little girl ended up coming too. Shan and Casey left pretty early, I put Keira to bed and Garett and Brin cozied up to watch a movie. Garett fell asleep at 8:30 on their fort on the floor, so Brin and Jami went home. TJ stayed in the garage with Ty hanging out until about 11:00. I ate snacks in bed and watched big brother until he left lol.
Saturday morning the kids were up bright and early. I went to the grocery store AGAIN to get some produce and stuff for snacks and lunches, and went home. We played in the yard quite a bit, and I packed the kids overnight stuff and mine. Tyler took Garett to TJ and Jami's for his sleepover fun, and Keira into town to Val's around 6:00 on his way to his gig. I picked Jami up at 7, said hi to Garett and we headed into town to Cori's house. We got our costumes on quickly and loaded up the car to go to the Museum of History for the Medieval Ball. It was actually a lot of fun! You could see the Medieval exhibit, try on armour, have your caricature drawn, fortune told, pose for pictures in a photo booth, eat free poutine, have some drinks, dance to the dj, watch the acrobats and magicians perform. Lots of fun was had by all, even though the weather was yucky! The ball ended at midnight, and I drove Jami and I home. Since there were no kids to wake up with, I had a pizza pocket and watched some big brother until 1:30 AM and Tyler came home from his gig around 2 when I had just fallen asleep.
We were up at 8AM on Sunday morning. I ran up the road and grabbed Garett while Ty headed into town to pick up Keira. He entertained her for the day (and she did not nap for him), and Garett and I got ready to go to Lansdowne with Brin and Jami for the pumpkin derby and activities. We watched a bunch of decorated pumpkins race, jumped in bouncy castles, made our own pumpkin rig and did a mini race, went through a spooky tunnel, played golf, did melt beads, decorated cookies, got sparkle tattoos, etc etc etc--it was an amazing FREE event, and was not nearly as packed as I anticipated. We stopped at Joey's for lunch (mmmm their Japanese Gyoza), and the kids were DONE (so were we). We headed home, and just laid around for most of the afternoon. Garett shovelled the back deck (he asked lol). Later in the day, Garett and I drove up the road to Embrun, drove by our two old houses there to see what they've done, went to the grocery store, bank and gas station ($1.05 for gas!!), and went home for some shepherds pie, baths and bed for them both by 7:10.
I took a bath, and watched a couple episodes of Big Brother while Ty watched the game in the basement. This morning I labelled a Ziploc with WINTER accessories for Garett to take as extras to school :( HOW is it THAT time already?! Packed his lunch, laid everyone's stuff out by the door, and I headed to work EARLY for once. I got here at 7:30 :)
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and that you have a smooth week ahead!
