Catch up- sans pictures
The amount of times I have tried to post a blog from this computer is astounding...I can't for some reason upload pictures anymore since they changed the uploader...and while I do it often, I hate reading blogs with no pictures (like what's the point? I feel ok doing it because barely anyone reads this, I'm sure ).
Anyways, moral of the story: if I want a blog with pictures, I have to do it from my ipad. And today, I am not.
I realise how long it's been since I've written, and I am finding that I even have to twist my own arm to write today (I do not miss writing, but feel if I start again maybe the inspiration to actually do it will come back).
Things have been crazy hectic in our lives. Tyler works literally round the clock (though it's not so bad now that winter is here and the concrete season is over), he's home most nights by dinner time. But being that, with travel, my days are also almost 10 hours long, we are both exhausted. By the time we get G, have dinner, relax for 20 minutes, and get him bathed, it's bedtime--for all of us! haha This doesn't leave much time for anything social on weeknights. Weekends are filled with either Tyler at work and me doing the cleaning or running around to play catch up, or trying to get things done around the house if we are both home. Can't wait for everything with the store to be a finely oiled machine so he doesn't have to go in so much :)
We finally managed to get G's room painted over the weekend--we couldn't put anything on the walls before the 24 hour mark, so obviously there's no time during the week so we won't be able to put his new light fixture in, art on the walls, etc until this weekend.
Hallowe'en is another thing I missed out on blogging. We had a great time. G went "trick or treating" for the first time...and by trick or treating, I mean we just dressed him up and took him to the neighbours to visit. He was the cowardly lion...the cutest little one I ever did see, if you ask me! Tyler had a scarecrow costume and I had a Dorothy one, but it was far too cold for us to dress up--guess we will save the costumes for if we ever need them (not sure what event would call for this, but I refuse to admit it was a huge waste of money to buy our costumes hah).
G has been battling a touch of asthma/bronchial inflammation, now his left lung is congested and he has perpetual redness in both ears....I'm almost happy that the winter is here. Now we can stop having fluctuating weather. I'm sick of 15 degrees one day and -10 the next...it's bad for my boy, and now we can just deal with winter always instead of constant colds and flare ups. He's on one last 5 day round of meds to kick the chest congestion, and hopefully the redness in his ears. Nights were hard for 2 nights previous, but last night he was back to his usual self--thank God :)
(Real talk: They are going to start charging me rent at the doctors office if we keep going back so often haha)
I bought my new winter tires and rims the other day and they were put on last night. The drive into work this morning was pretty spectacular..adds that extra little bit of reassurance. Having all wheel drive, I never worried too much, but winter tires give me the confidence to drive more in the winter at least. Tylers tires came in too, but turns out they ordered the wrong ones for him, so his won't be in until Thursday (well...tomorrow). We're ready for you, winter!
We moved office buildings a week and a half ago--I am really liking the new set-up..the building itself is really nice, I love my office and there's amazing food in the huge cafeteria downstairs--not to mention a gym across the street that I get a membership for half price at, being a gov't employee, and a grocery store as well (with quite a few restaurants in walking distance, or a really short drive away :))
We are starting to plan all of our Christmas events with work. And since I work in the Directors office, but am really doing work with every team under us, I get to attend everything :) I love Christmas season at work because it's a skeleton team and you get to know everyone so much better!
December 11 I am doing an absolute comedy afternoon with one team, followed by dinner (not sure if I can make the dinner)
December 18 a lunch out in little Italy with another team, followed by a Secret Santa gift exchange (finally a team that does an actual gift exchange and not those stupid tacky gift exchanges)
December 19 is a potluck lunch at work with the Division (all teams)
December 22 is my offices get together..since we are all ladies, we decided a spa afternoon (pedis, maybe get our makeup done and go out to eat after)
December 24 is a kids work party--we are setting up stations on the floor (and the floor above us) with fun activities for kids, movies playing in the boardrooms, with a ton of food, prizes, etc...While I am not bringing G to this because I am volunteering to help run it (I will bring him next year when I get an idea of the age of kids and such that come), I still look forward to it.
Of course, just because we have lots of social activities/team building on the go around Christmas, work is still abundant--going to be hard to keep up, but I am not taking any time off this year. I will start taking Christmas off once G is a little more understanding of the holiday :)
Friday after work, I have a bit of running around to do, and then get to go out for dinner to celebrate two of my friends birthdays. I won't get to stay out too late, since we have a busy weekend, but it will be nice just to get out and see them in a social setting again, and not just at a house!
I finished all the Christmas shopping for the kids, and am now onto trying to figure out what to buy the adults in my life...what do you buy people that have everything they need/want?...if you ever figure out the answer to that, let me know because I'm running out of ideas and don't have the time to put effort into really thoughtful gifts anymore lol.
My next order of toys I bought G (The big shipment) arrives tomorrow :) As well as my orders I put in for new clothes (there was a crazy sale at two of my favourite stores I couldn't turn down). I am pretty excited to get home tomorrow--could it be? I am more excited for new toys to play with than G. I went through a preliminary riddance of old toys G is way too old for at this point, but as I looked around last night I saw a bit more that I should either get rid of or put away for the next little. In all other aspects of my life, I never hold onto things...toys and clothes for G? I might need to buy another house to store it all in because I have crazy trouble parting with every item...there is such a sense of sentimental value tied to each and every piece...not to mention the money...lots of money on clothes and toys...it kills me to part with alllllll that money haha (I think I'm getting cheap in my old age ;))
We are going out of town for a night in coming weekends for a cancer benefit for one of our really good friends--G will be staying with his Granny and Grandpa for the first time ever, so hopefully it works out well since this is the test to see how well he sleeps there before we book our trip to go away this winter :)
Well, I can see the work piling up on my desk and my inbox is at 321 action items, so I should probably go! haha...have a wonderful day, everyone!
