It's beginning to look a lot like...
SPRING.
Nice mild weather, rain, no snow. I think Mother Nature wasn't ready for winter either :) And it was inevitable that this would happen--I just put my snow tires on, so of course the nice weather needed to come back. You're welcome, everyone. But just wait until I put my lighter clothes away and bring out the sweaters--it'll probably go up to 30 degrees! lol
Even though the weather is warmer and it's looking less and less like Christmas with each passing day (30 more days!), we are still in the spirit at our house :) I arrived home last night to my last box of garland and my other mini tree. I put the box of garland in the house--I will put it up this weekend inside the house, and then I put the other little tree outside. My wreath didn't come though! I was so heartbroken haha.
I stopped at the post office to pick up my last toy from Sears for that order (also got my Toys R us order the other day, now just waiting on Amazon and all G's gifts will be in!). This was the last toy from Sears we received--the Vet cart. Let's see if he can get any cats to partake in his practising haha
Once G was done his little "relaxing" he does in his crib each day (never a nap, but he lays there and relaxes quietly for 20 -30 minutes lol), I gave him a bath--he was so incredibly dirty--it was a nice day out yesterday (with a high of 19!) , so they played outside...ALOT. As soon as I got out of the car and went to the back, the babysitter said "he's fit for the bath", and that was no joke haha. So he splashed around in the tub for 30 mins or so until daddy got home at 5.
Then Ty pulled out his tree, and him and G assembled the tree (and then he had to string coloured lights because he realised the tree he bought had white lights--when he wanted coloured lights for his tree haha). I could hear G's squeals and watch him jumping around the tree in circles as Tyler did his work, while I cooked up some shepherd's pie for supper (I had got the potatoes peeled and chopped up while G relaxed). I decided to try something new--I made garlic mashed for the potato layer, and I put a thin layer of mozzarella cheese between the meat and potatoes...um...yum. It just adds that extra creaminess!
We ate dinner and then decorated Tyler's tree (still looks pretty boring--he didn't like my extra angel tree topper and can't find his garland...I MAY have hid the bag of stuff he bought and then lost it in the move haha). I will do my tree this weekend :)
We watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation while we decorated the tree and then shut it off halfway through to watch How to Train a Dragon or whatever it's called. G loved Toothless...no wonder, because he looks just like our cat Mika haha He giggled with excitement everytime he did something funny.
Then it was bed time. I got G down in his bed right before 8:30, and then the wind got BAD. It was shaking the house and the trees looked like they were bending so far they were about to break. The power was going off and on and off and on every minute or so, until around 9:30 it went off totally. I didn't even hear when it came back on, so it must not have been until midnight or so when I'm in deeper sleep. It's the weirdest thing being able to see people walking around their houses with flashlights through the window, and one guy was walking down the road with a flashlight..weird haha
This morning when my alarm went off, I was genuinely surprised. I really thought it was Saturday today haha...guess I'm busy wishing my life away!
Tonight for dinner, I am going to make some of my favourite Panini's that I used to get when I worked downtown--Ciabatta bun in the Panini press (a gift I didn't think I would use , but actually gets a pretty good workout!)..with a pesto spread, spinach, tomato, and feta....so.good. Tyler has his eyes set on the left over shephards pie (but I won't want to eat it again since I brought it for lunch today)..so he can have that and I'll make G some pesto pasta (another one of his favourites).
Anyways, that's it for me today :) Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!!
