Day off Recap

Yesterday, I had the day off.
I absolutely love being off on Wednesday's. It helps break the week up, and with 10 days off coming up (starting on Saturday), I welcomed the break in my week. The week before vacation starts is always the longest!

With a little munchkin around, I plan my vacation days around him and his daycare schedule--no more "hmm I think I'll take this week, or make random long weekends" for myself. Winter time I am a little more flexible, because Tyler's schedule is a little more flexible, but in the summer it's all about me taking off the time--and that's usually when daycare wants time off too :) This is fine by me--in the future, I can see mommy and garett trips to theme parks and hotels, while we leave dad behind--and hopefully the same for them in the winter. I think one on one time with each parent is just as important as together time. Anyways, I am getting way off track!

Yesterday, we were up around 7:15, Tyler had some work calls to deal with in the morning and then he headed into work for a bit. Garett and I left the house around 8:45, stopped for gas, and made our way to the eye doctors office. Our appointment was for  10, and we were there a bit early, like they suggest. This doctor is renowned, and is wonderful, but he is so chatty that he ALWAYS runs late. Yesterday was no exception. There were very few of us in the waiting room, and he still managed to be running 45 minutes late lol. They finally called us in around 10:45, after Garett had played shy for the first 25 minutes, snuggling up on my lap, then for the last 30 was "reading" the magazines out loud to the older ladies in the waiting room, and showing everyone how the toys work. Pretty cute.

The doctor looked at him for a total of maybe 4 minutes. He checked his eyes with the glasses, and without. He said he was very happy with how he has adapted to the glasses, and how straight his eyes are in them. That we have made a great stride. He set up a 6 month follow up appointment to check again. For now, he still needs the glasses for a little while longer. I have to say I will miss them when they're gone. He is such a little compliment magnet with them on--everyone just thinks he's the cutest thing ever lol (though even without glasses, he still grabs quite a bit of attention and compliments everywhere we went!). That's my boy!

We stopped for a smoothie as a reward for him being such a good and patient boy, and went home for a quick lunch. I wasn't sure he was going to have a good nap, since he didn't burn a ton of energy in the morning, but he napped for like 3 hours. This gave me time to catch up on Pretty Little Liars, Teen Mom, and the second last episode of season 3 of #Richkids of Beverly Hills (my new obsession). I also snuck in a quick 20 minute nap near the end of his. Once he woke up, we packed up a lunch kit of snacks and headed to the park.

We brought a towel and change of clothes, and he wore his swim trunks and water shoes. Once we got to the park it was a little windy and cool. He did NOT want to play in the splash pad, which is fine. I am so surprised he doesn't love the splash pad. This kid LOVES water, and all things outdoors. And I thought maybe because he was with me, he would want to go in. But nope. I'm sure he will be a bigger fan next summer!

So we grabbed our stuff and went to the park right beside it, sat at the picnic table and had a quick snack. Tyler met us there on his way home from work, and we sat on the swings and watched Garett run around, until he started climbing things, then we got up and helped him around. We headed home in time for baths, a quick dinner, and then before we knew it, it was bedtime !

Tyler had put him to bed, and then like 30 seconds later, I heard him get up, open his door, come into our room and take his little blankie he loves off of our bed, walked back to his room, sleepily, closed his door behind him and climbed back into bed. I just about died of laughter. He looked like a little teenager doing that. So cute!

Back to reality today--Tyler is having a bunch of stuff done to my car tonight, and she will be good as new. I was seriously debating a new car pronto, but I think I have decided to wait. There is nothing wrong with my car, and I do still like it--I just like new stuff better :) I think it's more feasible to keep this, and maybe save the new car for when we move into town, and when I put less km on it to maintain it's value a bit! It was a hard decision to walk away, since I found the car I wanted really badly, but oh well! This is better for me in the long haul :)

I made a hair appointment last night, for this coming Thursday, the 30th. I am going for a drastic change, in colour, cut, everything. I just am so sick and tired of my hair, and it needs a cut so bad. My hairdresser has agreed to do it from her house, since she is on mat leave, and I hate the girl who replaced her. I really only trust this one person, I don't know what I will do if she ever stops! lol. Stay tuned for before and after pictures :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday, and here's to a quick rest of the week! Happy Thursday!
