Master Living Room Decor

Much to my dismay, we are at a stand still with decorating the large living room over the garage. I have had the paint for weeks, and some of the décor I ordered arrives today by FedEx.

A certain 2.5 year old may or may not have smashed our semi-new 65" television with a small toy cell phone, and may or may not have totally broken it and voided the warranty. It may or may not have been estimated at nearly the cost of another new $3000 television.

We opted for an "unbreakable" projector to replace it. We wanted a bigger tv in that room anyways, and a projector seemed more logical. This way, Garett can't reach it, and there's not much he can do to damage the screen. He wasn't really bad for ever even touching the screen usually, but we don't want to take that risk again.

Here is the dilemma. The screen we ordered is on back order, and it's taking forever to get here. Tyler cannot paint the walls until the screen has arrived and is installed. Or else we will end up with a grey-green background on everything we watch, and it's just too weird to watch things that have a greenish tinge to them lol.

So, the paint sits. It waits for the day it gets shaken up and applied to the walls. But for now, I must practise my patience (which I seem to have less of lately).

But I am too impatient to share with you some of the décor in the room.

With the walls being a shade of greenish grey, I knew I wanted to keep the wall fairly neutral for the most part, and add pops of colour on the shelves, with throw pillows, and curtains. These are just my neutral items :)

1) White Ceramic candle holders. I love how crisp, clean, and classic these look! I have some pillar candles to put on them, but I think I'm going to wait to see the curtains and pillows and buy more of a more complimentary colour once I see it all together.

2) Grey/silver coloured floating shelves. I love the variance in size of these shelves. It makes it easy to stager on the wall, and throw in a wall clock, and cool decoration.

3) I had this big picture of the Paris city scape (from Ikea) in my other house, and I still love it a lot. With the size of the room and wall space in the living room, it is the perfect piece to carry over.

4) A chevron throw blanket, in grey. I can't wait to cuddle up in this :)

5) White lighted flower/branch vase. I love the glow of little lights in an otherwise dark room. This will add a cozy touch on one of the shelves (and some height to close the room in a bit with otherwise high ceilings).

Stay tuned for the final product--hopefully soon!

  1. Love love love this!!! Our house was painted a nice, neutral grey colour and decorating has been a breeze. We have the same idea for the shelves too - they are so fresh looking! Can't wait to see this when it's all done :)
