A little game of catch-up
Life has been crazy lately, but things are motoring along nicely, but the blog is being neglected.
So, in point form, here are the things that have happened/ are happening lately:
-Halloween we carved pumpkins in the morning, roasted the seeds, did nap time, then loaded up the costumes, jack o lanterns, candy, overnight bags, and we went trick or treating with G in my MIL's neighbourhood. G had so much fun and is already talking about next year ( he has stated he wants to be a pirate. Let's see how many times he changes his mind over the next 11 months lol).
After we went trick or treating , it was just about bed time, so while he was getting in the bedtime routine, Ty and I headed out to the Cantina. This was a last minute plan, so I just quickly cut up a yard waste bag and hot glued a paper crown to a head band, charred up the end of a cork and made myself dirty, and went as the paperbag princess. Best last minute costume that we always have the supplies for. It was nice to just be able to throw out the costume and change before the end of the night too! lol We picked Garett up for breakfast and headed home. He was pooped, so it was a quiet day!
- Last week was my Director's 49th birthday, so we made some cherry chip cake balls, a fruit tray, passed around a card and gave her a nice basket of a few of her favourite things, and overhauled her office (balloons and streamers everywhere) and covered her doorway in "happy birthday" banners. She was pretty excited to see it lol. We also had a big breakfast with the management team that morning to celebrate the ending of our charity campaign. It was a nice day :)
- This weekend we decided to hit up the big toy sale at the EY centre, but went on Sunday (the final day) and it was looking pretty sparse in there. Glad it was a huge success for them, but wishing I would have gone Friday after work like I wanted to originally lol. We picked up a few small things and some books. At least we got out of the house all together :) On the way home, we stopped to watch some planes land (G's favourite past time), and then popped in at Tyler's store to get a few things he needed and went home. G decided no nap yesterday (but a 4 hour nap on Saturday). Figure that one out lol he was toast by 8pm.
Friday night we had our friends (and G's god parents) over for dinner and a nice visit :)
-I booked mine and Shannon's pedicures for next tues (day before we leave!). Ty is taking Tuesday off as well so I will go into town and get my last minute stuff done while he hangs with G-man and then when I get home, he can pack (Tyler always does last minute packing. while I have already started lol), and then we can spend time together.
- We get Weds off this weekend (for Remembrance Day). Fed Gov't employees get this day off instead of Family Day. So, as per usual, I will watch the ceremonies on TV. Usually I have a glass of hot cocoa and put up the tree, but I think I will leave it until we get back from the trip so the cats don't go nuts and knock it over or anything while we are away lol.
-I only have two more rebounder classes left with my membership. I won't renew those classes again. They're good cardio and good for your lymphatic system, but I'm getting bored of it (the routines change everytime and all that, but the ENTIRE class of 9 other women and the instructor speak ONLY French, so I just don't like going anymore). It's something I might sign up for once a year to change things up (it's once a week for 8 weeks each time, and I've done 16 weeks now, so time to stop for a bit). I will welcome the one night less at the gym, and keep my three nights a week at my other gym!
-8 more days (not counting today) until Mexico :)
-My goal is to have NO laundry accumulated when we are in mexico--so I have one more round of bedsheet changes and just everyday clothes and towels to keep up on. Cleaning is all caught up now, so it's just maintaining at this point, and have my trusty spreadsheet to follow now :)
-I did groceries on Wednesday last week, and would like to only do one more haul before we leave, maybe cook a few meals for the freezer before we go--because it's SO hard to come back to reality and start cooking and cleaning for yourselves again after a few days of pampering and never cooking and eating whatever your heart desires whenever! My least favourite thing about travelling lol
-Still debating making a nail appointment. I'm so on the fence lol.
-The transfers for the airport are booked, and I priced out the park and fly today. I'll leave that to tyler though since he's always the one that does that. Will take out the money this week and have it converted to USD and Pesos :)
- Tyler is counting down the days to Toto (the reason we planned this trip in the first place LOL)--I think it's on the Saturday night while we are there. Last time we saw them in Windsor, we were like 2 rows from the stage and we could barely hear any vocals, because we were too close, so this time I think it's a dinner and show set up (so a table set up instead of like a concert set up).
-I am going to use my day off when we get home to catch up on laundry and do most of my Christmas shopping online.
-I have G's birthday invites planned out, and my cart full , so might buy those that day too :) Can't believe he will be 3 already!
- I have no idea what to get Ty for his birthday this year (I think we agreed no Christmas gift exchange this year, but we always buy on birthdays). I think maybe concert tickets or something--we haven't been to a concert in a while. Or get some box seat hockey tickets.
- I think I want to paint Garett's play room. Originally we were just going to leave it the normal beige colour, and we have his paw patrol wall decals and the paintings my mom made, but I might want to do it in a fun colour. I just don't know what. But I want curtains and a new ceiling light in the there as well, and maybe some wall shelving and whatnot. I want to turn the closet into toy storage and stuff too (maybe a little storage place in the bottom portion for his craft supplies), since right now it's where we keep our luggage and my summer dresses.
-Also have plans for the upstairs washroom to be redecorated, and we are doing the basement bathroom before Christmas (who likes to do ceiling drywall? Because if it's up to tyler, the ceiling won't be finished because he's SO bad at ceiling drywall apparently). So when we get back, we will be out shopping for flooring, a tub/shower faucet, toilet, stone wall features, light fixtures and décor. How exciting!
-We are also deep in Christmas event planning at work. We are doing escape manor, lots of lunches and dinners out, a big Christmas party at work for the family (kids, spouses) on Christmas Eve , and I think out for a comedy show (we haven't booked it yet).
- I have an interview this week with another Division on my floor. Just keeping my options open--not sure I want to move to a different team :)
- Not much else happening in the world of the Wood's. Hope everyone is well and sorry that you won't be hearing much from me in the next 2 weeks!
