Weekend Recap!
Is it just me or does it feel like Christmas has arrived already? I know there's no snow on the ground, but every morning I wake up, it FEELS like there should be a foot of fresh fallen snow on the car, and presents under the tree.
But that's neither here nor there, because I haven't yet wrapped a single gift, and some of them I am still waiting to arrive. I have to do Garett's stocking still, Christmas eve box, and buy the "pass around" kind of gift for my family. So I am not in ANY way wishing for it to come faster. Because once that's done, the scramble for G's birthday party and Tyler's birthday starts!
Friday night we didn't do a whole lot! I was SO tired, but got roped into doing a bit more decorating with the boys, made dinner, and we were all in bed early!
Saturday we were up bright and early (6:30), so we hung out in bed for a bit, then I made French toast and breakfast sausage. We played until it was nap time--tyler headed into town to fix the keg fridge, and when G woke up, we loaded up the car and headed into town. We grabbed some food and ate in one of the gaming rooms at daddy's store. He ran around, and explored the store and the bar (which was filled with children lol), played with some of his toys, had some snacks and waited for the parade to start. We had to be there for 5:00 because roads closed at 5:30, the parade started at 6pm--except we are far down the line, and the parade didn't get to us until 6:50pm. All of the kids were getting antsy, but once it started, Garett was totally intrigued! LIGHTS! TRUCKS! SANTA! SNOWMAN! FIREMAN! POLICEMAN! He really gave us the play by play the whole time, and it was cute. By the time Santa rolled around, we were all sitting in the front window watching in the warmth, and Garett declared "Santa is waving at me!" and everyone got quite a chuckle out of his cuteness.
Here are a few pictures from the night.
Sunday we slept in (7:30) and REALLY lounged around in bed until about 9:30. Tyler cooked up bacon and eggs and all that fun stuff and we hunkered down inside the house. We did some crafts and played until g went for his nap around 12:30.
We were supposed to go to the holiday train in Finch, but reports were we wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the place unless we parked far away and took a shuttle bus they had running. It was only there for like 30 minutes, so we just cut our losses and stayed home.
I undecorated my Christmas tree because a few of the prelit strands stopped working, and we couldn't fix them. So we tried to unravel just the burnt our strands, but they are ALL interconnected! ugh! So out came the wire cutters and I plugged away at that for 2 hours. and I still have the upper portion of the tree to do! what a pain.
Tyler went out to Rona to get all new knobs for the kitchen cabinets and closet doors (the builders used too short of screws on them and they keep stripping the knobs and falling off), so we are just replacing them. He bought some more Christmas lights, and stopped to buy stuff to make subs for supper. Also brought me home my first white hot chocolate of the season from Tim's :)
We watched Christmas with the Kranks (or some of it anyways) and all took turns having warm baths. I threw in a load of laundry and ran the dishwasher and called it a night! We were all passed out by 9.
This week marks the first of MANY Christmas parties. And I'm trying to time manage so 4 Friday nights in a row aren't taken up by this. Not to mention the time consumption of running the charity campaigns and having to bring Ty and G in on Christmas Eve for the annual kids Christmas party here. December is always such a hectic month, it always flies by!
Elf on the shelf is a hit in our house--so far, we caught him with a fishing rod with a candy bracelet as bait (and he left g a little note to say Hi!), he coloured on our family picture (which made G angry--so I won't do anymore mischievous things), he has taken a bath in marshmallows (which G did think was silly), and this morning, he would have found that Alfy left him a note asking him to countdown to Christmas with him, with an Avengers advent calendar. He really appreciates that Alfy leaves at night and never goes into his room lol
Other than that, a very quiet weekend! Hope you all enjoyed some online black Friday sales, and today's cyber Monday sales! The biggest shopping day of the year!
Happy Monday.
Happy Monday.
