I've got 23 problems..
When we saw that "YES-pregnant" indicator pop up, we immediately knew that shortly after Christmas we would list our house. I cleaned out all of the bathroom cabinets, organized our master closet, started going through toys (brought 4 moving boxes worth over to our daycare), made endless trips to the clothing donation bin. I thought I had a huge head start on things. Then we told our families, and then Christmas happened. And then I got caught up in planning Garett's birthday, and dealing with doctors appointments, date night, thinking of Tyler's birthday, work, and Tyler's work schedule. Things got away from me, and that head start was long gone.
My list started out with 60-some items. Closets to sort through, rooms to organize, hallways to paint, toys to deal with, a house to stage, items to get rid of (sell, donate, etc), and we have dwindled the list down greatly.
Happy to report that the list is down to 23 items.
Unhappy to report that the realtor comes tomorrow evening. We had our discussion about listing the house. Talked to a few realtors, settled on one company, and Tyler had made the appointment for like three days later. I said "NO" in the most bellowing voice I have. He changed it to two days later. Double UGH. So here we are. A list of 23 to-do items in the 5 hours I have awake at home this evening.
I wanted to go to a home décor store after work and grab some stuff to stage the bathroom, and get the paint, but I think the bathroom painting will have to wait until right before the photographer comes. I have to instead get to the post office, mail G-man's birthday invitations, and get home to cross off at least 15 of the most dire items (see: vacuum and mop my floors, hang the wall décor back up after the painting, wash dirty hand print covered windows in a house filled with windows and mirrors, put away mounds of laundry).
Tyler is home today with Garett, and crossing off a few things from the list that he can accomplish on his own without my tasteful direction. He worked on the information for the listing and hopefully I survive through the night and don't fall asleep at 7:45 pm again (and forget to set my alarm for work and wake up an hour late). Dang it, first trimester! You win, again.
Happy Hump Day!!!

You must like moving! I guess city people make their houses look nice before they sell hoping to sell faster - which makes sense but seems like a lot of work. We have been looking for houses FOREVER and I mean you go into them and some are awful, people don't even clean up!
ReplyDeletehaha! I don't know if Embrun is considered "city", but yes Realtors for the most part encourage you to keep the house spotless and thin out all the junk and personal touches (pictures, book shelves, too much décor are the big ones )to make it look bigger. Definitely helps sell faster! I really think the staging we did is the reason we sold our last place in less than 24 hours! haha
DeleteI won't even go past the front door in houses we go see if it smells, or if they obviously don't clean up after themselves. If they take such poor care of the aesthetic of their house, I doubt they take care of the actual house itself. yuck! Good luck in your hunt! You will find the perfect one for you :) Just takes a bit of time.
Unfortunately, we do like moving, and everytime you move and make a substantial amount on your home (if you invested wisely), it means a lower mortgage in the next place. We have a 10 year plan that leaves us mortgage free and in our dream home. So until then, lots of moving. I just don't like all the packing and unpacking! haha
