Life Recap
Life has been crazy lately. And not just a little bit. If you know me and my husband, you know we like to keep life entertaining and busy (see: Crazy, in the dictionary).
Christmas was a little hectic in the fact that a lot of stuff came down to the wire. Tyler did his shopping on Christmas Eve (even though I urged him not to do this again this year lol), and we had to attend my work Christmas party with Garett. We arrived just as Santa was handing out the gifts, and did not stay long after. We dropped G-man off at my in-laws house for his nap, and we headed out to do the shopping and stopped for a quick lunch. He was still napping when we got back, so we just visited for a while. When Garett woke up, we fed him and headed over to our friends Rod and Sharon to exchange gifts and visit for a while. We ended up staying for dinner, and then headed to Tyler's aunts house. We stayed for a while, and left around 9:30. G was toast, and fell asleep 5 minutes into the car ride. But woke up when we got home to sprinkle his reindeer dust/food, put out milk, cookies, carrots, and a note, say goodbye to Alfy, open his Christmas eve box, and put on some PJ's. He's a trooper!
Christmas morning we all slept in until almost 8. Opened all the gifts (G had a blast). When Garett went down for his nap, I peeled all the potatoes and carrots, set the table, tidied up a bit, stuck the ham in the oven, and cooked away. Tyler's family came around 3, we did the gifts, and then we all sat down to the big dinner. We took a break after and then I warmed up the pies and we had dessert. It was a pretty early night--everyone left around 7:30 I think!
Boxing day we were up and I wrapped the gifts for my family, and wrapped our little gag gifts a ton of times (I think 15 lol) and we loaded up the truck and headed to cornwall. Garett napped a bit in the truck (about 45 minutes), and wanted nothing to do with his Thomas bed when he got there, so he just laid down and watched cartoons for a bit, which is fine. At least he relaxed a bit! We did our usual dinner and gift opening. The kids got lots of cool things, and my mom won the gag gift this year--It was Beanboozled (and two extra cartridges). We will play next time we get together! :) (minus me. I just want to watch. Because nothing makes a preggers want to puke more than barf flavoured jelly beans haha). We were on the road before 8, as Garett was quite obviously "over" the day and really just needed a good nights sleep. He stayed awake the majority of the ride home, but passed out in the last 10 minutes and went right to bed when we got home.
The 2 days following was really spent cleaning around the house and relaxing. Did a whole lot of nothing those days, and it was great!
I was home from work unexpectedly on the 29 because of a big snow/freezing rain storm. Was pretty much snowed into my street, and by the time we were plowed out, there was no point in going in, so I watched some movies and relaxed. Tyler had taken G to daycare and picked him up that day, so I didn't have to go out at all!
I worked the 29, 30 and the 31 we were let out shortly before 1. I brought Tyler some lunch to the store, and then I went and grabbed G man, who was napping on the couch when I arrived. He slept a bit more when we got home, and then we played outside a bit before daddy came home.
We did nothing for New Year's this year. Tyler has quit drinking (with the exception of a beer or wine with a nice dinner here or there) for my pregnancy with me (oh yeah, I'm pregnant, which I also didn't mention yet --second pregnancy problems), so we packed up the liquor from the bar and started cleaning the basement. I had bought some sparkling pink lemonade (carbonated pink lemonade hah), and we did our cheers around 10:45, and we were in bed by 11. #wearegettingold.
Over the course of the weekend, we packed up all the bar glasses and put them into the storage area, sold the bar, moved the couch in the basement, cleaned off the air hockey table and posted an add to sell that, cleaned and organized all of the kitchen cabinets and pantry, moved the dining area around and organized the drawers in there, listed the two big white wood shelves we had taking up space in there (they are being picked up tonight), took down the upstairs tree and the downstairs tree, and de-Christmafied my house inside (and took down the little trees outside, but have to wait for a bit warmer weather to take down the rest--maybe later this week). I cleaned out the front hall closet and the garage hall closet and organized those, sorted through all of our winter outside gear/accessories and made up two garbage bags of coats and boots and mitts and hats, scarves, old clothes to donate, as well as some bedding in another bag.
Last night Tyler patched all the little scuffs in the hallways, and we will commence painting tonight of the remainder of the halls. Then I just have to grab paint for the upstairs washroom.
If you haven't guessed by now, we are listing our house this week. Our realtor is coming over on Thursday evening to talk to us and give us an appraisal of what the market value is right now (though we have a mutually agreed upon number going in of what we want to ask regardless of what they say, since I have been doing my own market research for many months leading up to this :))
So wish us luck in our real estate ventures (again), and we look forward to the move into town, expanding our family, and all of the exciting things 2016 will bring us! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and New Year's celebrations with the warmth of their families, and with full hearts!
