Dominican Republic 2017 conclusion DAYS SEVEN AND EIGHT
Day 7 was a relax/resort day. We were both feeling exhausted from being on the go and also so many naps lol
But when we were sitting down at the lounge, we ran into a couple from Toronto.
As we were talking to them, we found out they were also UVC members, so we started talking about the benefits. Another couple next to us who was a school teacher and the husband owned a car dealership had just been to the meeting and were deliberating on becoming members. The husband thought we were "plants " sent by the company haha so we discussed with them for a while.
Before you knew it, we had all had too much to drink, so we went back to our rooms and all went to dinner. We had Mexican again.
But no sooner had dinner finished, we were all having more drinks at the lounge, then went to the lobby bar, and then danced the night away at the disco --even tyler danced!!!
We all ended up going for a swim around 3:30 am and all went our separate ways around 3:45
We didn't have to really be up until 11 the next day but woke at 8:30 anyways.
We ordered some yummy room service breakfast to eat while we packed up. The bell boy came to get our luggage around 11:45, and our transfer to the airport was there at 12:10
The airport here is such a disaster for outbound flights. Line after line for random papers and passport checks. But we eventually made it through and had some lunch.
Last time the airport was empty almost but this time it was jam packed. And it is all open air, so no AC. A little girl about 12, waiting for our flight, even passed out! It was hot.
Finally it was our turn to board. But being that our plane was two terminals away on the runway, we had to bus over. I hate this because they pack buses full of people to drive three seconds.
Because of the heat, our takeoff was slow and bumpy.
Our flight was horribly turbulent, and the seatbelt sign was on for about 70% of the ride. Lots of air pockets and fighting against jet streams. Not a fan. So I had a few drinks to take the edge off.
It was about four hours only, thank for , and we sped through customs.
We were home by 8:45, but both kids were asleep so we went to bed after we said bye to family.
Aside from the ride of our lives home, we had such a blast!! This was our first trip alone, and we agreed it was the best yet. We have found our ideal travel buddies --each other * insert heart eye emoji * lol
