Another Weekend Come and Gone

Another weekend in the books, and it was another action packed time.

Halloween was a rushed night on a Wednesday--I whole heartedly agree with the new proposed timing for Halloween, so it never falls on a weeknight again! The kids were already so tired at the end of the day. Traffic was BRUTAL on the way to Orleans, but I met Tyler and the kids at my mother in laws. They had some pizza, and everyone else arrived. We went out around 6:00 I'd say. Garett stayed behind to hand out candies, and Keira did like five houses before we called it quits. She also was more into the decorations than the trick or treating haha. Tyler took her back to the house, but I stayed out for a while with the others before we finished up the street. We were home by around 8 PM and the kids went right to bed!



Thursday was another rushed night with Beavers for Garett.


Friday evening was relaxed at least! We just hung out watching movies and munching on popcorn. I think that's all we did-I can't remember, for the life of me!


Saturday morning we all slept in a bit since it was so overcast and rainy. Around 7:30, we got up, I made some breakfast and we did a lot of indoor activities.I got so much housework done--ALL of the laundry, two loads of the dishwasher, scrubbed the kitchen, washed the windows, took a quick nap and made some chicken tortilla soup (and cooked the remaining chicken breasts). Tyler left around 6:30 to go to some musician jam party, and went to sleep at Shan and Casey's house around 2AM. I put the kids to bed, had a bath, watched some of my shows and ate some soup. I went to sleep around midnight.


Sunday morning the kids were up around 7, Tyler was home around 8:15 while the kids were eating breakfast. We hung out and played a bit, had a quick snack and loaded up to head to Vanderlaand the Barnyard Zoo. I wanted to get out here, no matter how short of a visit ( I was not anticipating the 40 minute drive there), because they give free admission to those who bring an old pumpkin! We rounded up all 6 of our pumpkins and put them in the big trailer. They feed them to the animals! It's like a treat for them. We also bought some cones filled with feed for the animals, and played a lot/took pictures. Keira squealed with joy I think the ENTIRE hour or so we were there lol. Halfway there, I realized I forgot her hat on the front table at home, so thankfully we had an extra of Garett's--so pardon how homely my children look, but they were going to a muddy farm! lol
I highly recommend a trip there if you live close by. Very nicely run--they have Emus, goats, horses, donkeys, bunnies, chickens/roosters, turkeys, peacocks, potbelly pigs, llamas, guinea pigs, etc etc. Not to mention the massive playground area.

Afterwards, we went home for Keira to grab a nap. Tyler ended up falling asleep too, so Garett and I threw on a show and did some water painting.

While the two sleepers napped until 4:30, Garett and I walked up the road (I walked, he rode his bike) to TJ and Jamis. TJ was gone into town for some more yard waste bags, and while the kids played on the structures, we bagged up 20 yard waste bags of leaves, and started a fire that quickly dissipated because the branches were way too cold and wet. We dismantled their trampoline, and then I brought Garett and Brin back home to my place to give Jami some time to sort out the rest in the back without rushing to prepare supper. I had beef out to make a meatloaf, but figured tacos were a better bet since they were faster, and more of a hit with the kids. After tacos, I whipped up some whipped cream and cut up a ton of fruit, so they had that for dessert. Then they all played for a while and stopped for a yogurt drink and an apple and played a bit more until TJ and Jami came by to get Brin around 6:30.

We gave the kids a quick bath afterwards, tidied up and the kids went to bed shortly after 7 (thank you time change)


I showered and put on a new Netflix cooking show I found but fell asleep around 8PM. Tyler came up around 10 for bed.
