Weekend Recap!
Last week at work was extremely rough. Things are really gearing up and are so busy right before Christmas; plus planning Christmas stuff on top of my work, it's a lot! But when I can actually make a change in someone's life, I like to!
I reached out to the local Boys and Girls Club here in Vanier last week, and picked up a bunch of Angels for the angel tree. I originally asked for 15, then 10 more, then 5 more. Here's what I have left out of the 30 :) I also accepted a bunch of monetary donations to go towards their contingency also. Feels good!
Thursday night, Garett had Beavers, and since Tyler was going to be working overnight, I left him home with Keira to put her to bed and I took Garett into Beavers before the snow started. We got home around 7:45 and went straight to bed. Snow started shortly afterwards!
We woke up to a winter wonderland, and it was STILL snowing. I brought the kids into school (PD day program for Garett, with a Garlic King Shawarma lunch, and a Dance off led by some of the RedBlacks cheerleaders to benefit cerebral palsy). Keira went to daycare, and I went straight to work- it took me 2 hours to get in with all of the driving in the snow, dropping off the kids, traffic jams, etc. I was happy to just get there! lol

I left a little bit early to beat the rush home, and that worked out well! Tyler was going out at 1AM Saturday morning also, so we did a quick dinner and we were all in bed super early!
Saturday rolled around, and Tyler got home around 7:30 as the kids were waking up. He napped until 9:30, so I made some French toast, the kids ate and tried on some of their new swag I ordered them. They're growing like weeds. Garett really loved his new Reebok tracksuit; he wore it all day until bed! Obviously the try on session didn't go well. It's like pulling teeth to get them to try on different outfits right now, so I guess I'll just see as we use them if they fit properly or not lol.
Once Tyler was up, the kids and Ty got all bundled up. Tyler plowed the driveway, and I baked some of my Grandma Patenaude's Sweet Marie Bar recipes while watching out the kitchen windows keeping an eye on Garett teaching keira how to build a snowman. She just kept yelling "OLAF!!!!" and hugging them, thus crushing them haha
These taste like my childhood.
Around 5 PM on Saturday, Tyler and Garett headed out to the Beaveree (Beavers Event). This was at the Sens vs Pittsburgh game. We came out on top, and Garett proudly stated that us winning was his favourite part of the night :) There were lots of other Beavers and Scouts there, and they didn't get home until 10:30 or so. He slept all the way home and stumbled into bed as soon as they walked in the door.
Sunday morning, we all slept in as long as we possibly could lol. I fed the kids some waffles, we got dressed and ran out the door. I had bought tickets for the kids to go to another Little Hands cooking class at the Superstore. The theme of this one was "Movie night snacks"
I will say, while Garett had a blast, I thought that the recipes would have been a bit better suited for the older age group. Little hands is for 2-6, and this class was all about stove/oven items. There was ALOT of waiting, and each child didn't get to help as much as the other classes we have been to. Also, Keira didn't get to participate at ALL because she was too little to help at the stove, so Tyler ended up taking her to do a few groceries before we were done. We made a Chicken Alfredo dip (which was actually incredible) and a smores dip (too sweet for us)
We went right home, the kids played outside VERY briefly, but it was way too cold. We came in, and played, tidied the toy room (it's a DISASTER to say the least, and I NEED to go through it to get rid of stuff to make room for the massive amounts of things I bought for Christmas).
We cooked two big batches of chili, a spaghetti sauce in the slow cooker, some guacamole and some bacon for toasted tomato sandwiches. While it was simmering, I put up the wall decals in Keira's room, and washed/put out her new bedding. Tyler painted the kids rooms last week, so now it's just getting to decorating them as things are delivered! I have a few little things to hang on her wall, but still trying to figure out if I should put anything over the hearts or just leave it as - is. We are also going to be carpeting the bedrooms and putting up new closet doors/shelves/ etc in Keira's room. So things are coming along slowly.
We laid low for the rest of the day. Keira napped and Garett was pretty tired, so he lounged around most of the afternoon also. We had easy sandwiches and fruit for lunch , and ate some of the spaghetti sauce with Shell pasta for dinner and devoured the guacamole in bed together after the kids went to sleep lol
Tonight, we have our neighbours coming over for dinner, so hoping to get the laundry at least moved out of the front hall lol. I caught up mostly on the laundry over the weekend, but didn't get a chance to put it away LOL
Hope you all had a nice weekend :)
