Super long-weekend recap
Thursday evening, Garett didn't attend Beavers, since it was at the War Museum. He's been there many times, and it's so far away, so we just opted out. Since they are going to a Sens game this weekend, we didn't think he was missing much lol
Thankfully they stayed home because Keira took a spill off a bike in the driveway before I got home, and hit her head. She was very upset all night, and I was terrified she was concussed. She wasn't, but she was visibly shaken by the event. We went in to stir her every hour or so all night long, so I stayed home on Friday to get some rest. That evening, I made some steak and potato herbed foil pouches and some salad. It was good!
Friday, Keira seemed back to normal, but she went for an appointment just to make sure! Our friend/neighbour was in Belgium for work for the week, and her husband had to coach some basketball, so I watched their daughter for a few hours until he came home. The kids had some snacks and watched some tv, played in the toy room, etc. I made some homemade tomato sauce, and hammered out some chicken to make some authentic chicken parmesan, some mushroom rice (similar to risotto , but much less effort) and a salad. TJ and Brin ate at our place, and we still had so many leftovers, Tyler ate it for many meals after lol. Garett was SO proud when he came home since he got to lead the Remembrance Day procession since he wore his Beavers uniform to school.
Saturday everyone was up bright and early. We didn't do a lot that day. We played outside a lot and tidied up the house. Tyler had a gig that evening in Richmond, so he left around 4PM, and was gone until almost 2AM. I started binge watching more Big Brother lol. We made a quick dinner of KD and hot dogs! I just wanted something easy I knew the kids loved!
Sunday the kids slept in until 7:30, it was amazing. My Mother and Father in law came for a visit in the morning for some coffee and to see the house. They left before Keira's nap. My neighbours daughter came over to play for a bit again, and I went to get some groceries afterwards. We had a full house for dinner. I made an Italian sausage spaghetti, with garlic bread and Caesar salad, and made a sex in a pan for dessert (yum!). We had over Garetts god parents (Rod and Sharon), their son and his wife (Justin and Alex), their two kids (Marcus and Emma), TJ and Brin. It was a full house. Once the kids left, we stayed up a bit and had a drink in the garage. We went to bed around 10:30, and watched some TV.
Monday we all got up around 6:30, got ready for the day, brought the kids into town together and went around doing errands. We picked out the paint for Keiras room, Garetts room, and the mainfloor bathroom. As well as ceiling and baseboard and door paint. We will start there, and then move onto the main part of the house. One room at a time is the plan, though we want to redo all flooring in the bedroom areas/hall and tile the bathroom/shower. I have Keiras new bedding, and her new wall decals, and I just ordered Garetts wall decals and bedding this morning ( he asked for an ocean/shark room). Went home afterwards and did some laundry, unloaded the dishwasher and waited until it was time to grab the kids. We made a quick dinner of leftover spaghetti, did baths and the it was off to bed!
This morning the snow was really coming down, so I didn't want to wait around for Cindy to get back from her appointment, so I brought Garett to school and came straight to work. Tyler waited for the call and brought Keira to daycare once she was back :)
Tyler's F-250 is gone from our driveway now that it's outfitted with it's plow and salter, and the F-150 is in the shop until mid-week this week. It's been there for over a week now. It was in for routine maintenance and then one of the mechanics hit another car in the parking lot, and now he needed a new bumper. So we have a limited edition ford flex. I don't love the outside (which means it's growing on me because originally I HATED it). But it's all wheel drive, and super nice inside. I think we are potentially eyeing them up to replace my SUV whenever we are done with my car. It seats 7 and is a good compromise between an SUV and a Van (which I refuse to buy). I know I want bigger next time, and I love the Explorer , but it may be too tall for me. I wouldn't be able to park it under our carport.
Back to reality today. We laid out the date for our 1st annual "Wood-stock" BBQ at our place. We invited work people, friends, we will put a poster up on the street to invite the neighbours (apparently there's at least one big street party a year). I REALLY want to rent a big bouncy house, but it's pretty $$$ so we probably won't blow money on that when we are saving for a nice big in ground pool now.
This weekend, we have the cooking class with the kids :) I love me some weekend fun! We have officially post-poned our December vacation after a long discussion. There's just too much going on family-wise we want to be here for and we will wait to go with friends. We are looking at maybe just a weekend trip somewhere close, or a long weekend trip somewhere else. Either way, we need some kind of break away together SOON.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend :)
