Yesterday was my first day back to work after my week off...can't say I came back to the best day ever. Alot of people were off "sick" so I was essentially alone trying to catch up on my own work, other people's work and keep on top of taskings coming in..the day went quick to say the least--here's hoping Tuesday gets off to a better start :)
My week off was busy, busy, busy! I didn't get to do much but there was always something to "do" and it kept me busy so I didn't get as much accomplished as I was hoping!
On Friday, I took the day off because I realised I had no time to do everything on my to-do list for our cousin's weekend shin-dig the next day! So my parents and sister came up and pushed a bunch of carts around the grocery store for me (or I would have had to make 4 trips into the store, home and back...NOT cool!) But it was very cool they came to help :) After all that was put away at home, we visited for a bit and they headed home--then began my cleaning and organizing frenzy! I had to get all the beds made, all the laundry done and got all the sheets/pillows, etc ready for people sleeping over!
Saturday morning, I got all the premade drinks I put into mason jars made (thank you Pinterest for the idea--it went over SO well) and wrote the little chalk board things to show people what they are. All the salads I prepared the night before I mixed in the dressings for them and stuck them back int he fridge, cut up all the desserts and put them in the fridge and Ty went and stocked up on ice! I swept off the back deck and had just sat down with a bottle of water and my cousins started to come! Gave them the tour of the house and sat down to have a nice visit until other people came. Not many McCann's came, but I'm not super sad about that--it was kind of an afterthought to include everyone--and to be honest--in my current state (tired lol), it was a blessing in disguise that we didn't have 50 people running around the house! I mostly wanted to get my cousins together since we have never really gotten the chance to be all together aside from weddings and funerals (we dont even see each other at Christmas usually all together people are so busy!). So it was nice to catch up and hear stories about my aunts and uncles and grandparents that I had never heard before :) All in all, it was a major success! There was talks about another Patenaude/Cadieux/Laurin cousin reunion in the fall so I look forward to that :)
The only snag was that once everyone started coming inside, the A/C had decided to call it quits it seemed and was up to 29 degrees--which is totally unacceptable for us, since we usually keep it around 21 (I am hot ALL the time now instead of cold like usual lol). We were totally convinced either 1) the AC was broken and we needed a new unit 2) the Compressor was frozen and that it probably blew since it had been "running" hot ...but turns out we were both wrong..Ty went to the basement around 6:30 am and checked the filter...as soon as he pulled it out the furnace let out a sigh of relief---it was black...like..even saying black is an understatement. I have never seen anything like that! Anyways--he stuck in a new filter and good as new! The house cooled down totally within 2 hours :) PHEW! Crisis averted :)
Sunday we woke up and cooked the bunch of people that slept over a big breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, my homefries, toast, etc) and we all lounged around watching movies for a bit after my last few cousins headed out. After they left I tidied up a little but mostly napped for the rest of the day!:)
Monday was a stat so Tyler was home so we watched some TV and cleaned the rest of the house and did a TON of laundry from all the blankets used. Bed early that night since an unfortunate someone had to be up early the next day (hehe).
Tuesday, I woke up and headed into town to get my last bit of blood work done for the IPS testing (to verify the baby doesn't have neural tube problems/downs syndrome, etc --all the scary stuff!). Then headed out to do a little shopping at Thyme to treat myself after the student blood taker butchered my arm lol Home to make a nice dinner for my man and relax! :)
Wednesday I woke up and headed off to Cornwall for the day. I went to my parents and hung out there for hours and hours until about 7 at night--we just visited--they showed me around their new house, we ordered in lunch and visited some more! It was a nice day :) Went home and packed up a bag for me and Ty.
Thursday morning, I woke up and finished packing and cleaning the fridge. We headed out to pick up Tyler's cousins Jesse and Stacey and headed out to the Cottage that Peggy and Terry had gotten for the week. After Stacey got us good and lost, we finally managed to find our way to the cottage lol...Dolly and Mark were there when we arrived and we hung out for a bit--ate dinner and when the boys headed out fishing, Doll and I went into Pembroke to Walmart and Giant Tiger for some warm clothes and desserts (that never got eaten lol). The girls were on our own for most of the night since the boys went over to Bill and moe's cottage to drink--so we stayed and watched Role Models and read :) I was in bed by 1 or so and didn't fall asleep until 4---to say that bed was uncomfortable was an absolute understatement lol. Ty rolled in around 7:30 lol (he passed out for a while at the Moe's cottage next door). I got up and read a bit and went back to bed until around 10. We had a big breakfast, sat around for a while, went over to visit Moe and Bill for a bit, came back and I packed up--Tyler went to pick up Terry's boat from the launch for him and we headed home. Ty figured since it was raining there anyways, he would get more paper work/accounting done at home so he didnt have to do it later..we stopped at a chip truck for a milkshake on the way home (YUM) and I napped while he worked once we got home :) lol
Friday I caught up on housework and took a nice bath and really didn't do too much!
Saturday, my sister came up and we did some shopping, went out to lunch and visited at my place a bit before she left :)
Sunday we were pretty pooped (yes, I was pooped even though I got to nap lots--sue me! lol). Around 3:30 we headed out and stopped in at Peggy and Terry's before we went to dinner to Delicious Steak House for Peggy's Birthday. We got stuck in the torrential downpour coming out of the restaurant but went to Peggy's for a bit afterwards and headed home when it cleared up a bit! Got home around 8:30 and laid out my clothes for the next day and lounged around while Ty played some video games :)
Another busy weekend coming up this week with Amber and My mom both having birthdays on the 19th! So we will be making that work :) Taking Amber out Friday night and Saturday, heading up to Cornwall for the night to be with my mom :)
Next week (the 23rd) I have my next Doctors appointment to get my referral for my next ultrasound hopefully :) And according to everything I read, this will likely be it for telling whether it's a girl or boy! I hope they can see :) I am SO excited to find out if we'll have a lil man or lil woman running around first :) And then comes the fun part! Furniture shoppnig and getting the nursery ready!! Eeeee :) I have a strong feeling towards a girl right now, so we'll see if what they say is true about how mom's always know--sometimes I get a brief feeling of a boy though--so we'll see! I feel so up in the air about it lol
Anyways, I think that's enough rambling for now! Hope everyone is having a great work week so far :):)

I was wondering about the a/c too - glad to hear it was just a very black filter!
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had fun at the cottage even if the boys were out fishing most of the time - you and Doll should've gone too!
I am thinking it's a girl for sure!
I know, thank God! At least we were prepared for the possibility of a new A/C I guess--made the satisfaction of not having to buy one even better LOL
ReplyDeleteThe boys were barely gone fishing--the only went for like 2 hours the night we got there :)Too rainy and stormy to be out much more than that!
LOL well, we'll see :) either way I'll be happy--just a hunch though (but I feel like we're right :)) xox
