Doobie Brothers!

Image
Yesterday was pretty uneventful until Ty got home--we got ready, packed up and headed into town to grab our tickets before heading to Jazzfest at Confederation Park downtown. We found a parking spot quite a few blocks away on purpose so we could walk around together a bit, grab a quick bite and enjoy the energy of downtown a bit before heading to the show (we love downtown on summer nights). We got to cross another thing off Ty's bucket list last night by seeing the Doobie Brothers in concert. They're getting older, so we knew if we missed the chance to see them then, we probably wouldn't get another chance, so we sucked up the 9pm start time and just did it. When we got there, we realised everyone was sitting in lawn chairs, and Ty had decided we didn't need to bring ours, so we found a vendor that was renting them out! lol The show was fantastic! There was quite a few songs we had both never heard of from some of their newer albums, but ALL of the songs were gre...

Things are about to change.

Life is moving too fast. Garett may be 5 months old, but I am having trouble "living for today". In my head, I picture him all grown up. He doesn't feel like a baby so much as a toddler to me now and I already feel the itch for another some days, which is not good lol (for now at least).  Garett starts sleeping in his crib tonight :( I don't know where I heard that babies should be in their bassinet until 6 months, but I choose to go with that because I love having him right beside my bed, but apparently babies should only be in their bassinet for 3-4 months max, until they sleep through the night, are 10-15 lbs, or can roll over on their own. Now that G is starting to sit up, it just feels unsafe, plus, from the queues I read about, he has been crib ready for a while now :( SO happy I got a comfy chair that reclines in there because I feel I may be sleeping in it for a few nights while "I" transition hahah. Is it bad that this is harder on me than the baby?...

Rubba-dub-dub

This post is brought to you from the comfort of a hot bubble bath :) also, welcome to the most random post. Ty got home a bit early today, so I went to the grocery store to pick up some necessities for the weekend.  We decided to order food for supper:bad idea. I could probably barf up an entire months worth of food (tmi, I know, but it's crazy how sick I feel).  So, Ty is cuddling with the little guy and I thought I would sneak away to relax a bit so I don't have to use any receiving blankets to clean up my mess lol. We are supposed to be going to see the Doobie Brothers at Jazzfest tomorrow night but we didn't realize the show only started at 9, so the likelihood of going has dwindled a lot lol. Stay tuned to see if we suck it up. I am starting a purge of the house in my head. I want to get rid of a lot to make room for new stuff. I wish I was more sentimental about things;it would be a lot cheaper! Garett is starting to sit up on his own now and he made a few strides in ...

Weekend Recap

Image
What a weekend ! I spent the good portion of the day on Friday cleaning and putting away laundry. Ty got home really early that day so he trimmed all the trees and all the garden around the house and mowed the lawn and resealed our back patio. I have to get out at some point today just to clean all the furniture off before we put the furniture back on the deck--not a problem since the little man not only loves when I lather him up with sunscreen, but he LOVES sitting in his seat outside. He loves looking around :) We were in bed at a pretty decent hour on Friday night as we had to be up early (as usual) on Saturday. My parents came up to watch the boy while Ty and I and our friends Jeff and Leah headed to the Metcalfe Golf Club for 18 holes of golf. What a fun day! We laughed so much and had a great time. We played girls vs boys and one Marshall driving around kept asking who won (Tyler won the game but I think they cheated--girls should have won--they played from the brush a few ...

Summertime.!

Image
I can feel  summer on days like this. It is SO nice out and it makes me excited for all things coming up. Stay tuned for those recaps:) Yesterday I got a short notice visit from my folks while Ty was out at work, which was nice:) After they left for some shopping in ottawa, Ty got home and I headed in to do groceries. When I got home, their car was here again, so we had another nice little visit :) it was bed time almost immediately after they left since Garett just needed a bottle and was out for the night!  We had been playing (Gman and I) since about 9, so he just passed out for a nap and thought I may take advantage of this time to blog! :)  I cannot believe it's only Weds though! The weeks where you're looking forward to the weekend always seem SO slow!!  Some things I am looking forward to:  - date nights - Bbqs - dolls wedding - cousins night - Canada day festivities  - family time - bday parties - jersey shore night pt 2 - our anniversary  - et...

A letter to my son...

To my beloved, precious little man, As you approach your fifth month of life on the outside with us, I am amazed at how much you have grown, learned and embraced. I can tell you will be a beam of sunshine in everyone's life who is blessed enough to meet you. I cannot believe we are lucky enough to call you our own. Your daddy and I love you very much. Things you love: -Laughing out loud at things you think are silly (buzzing noises, squeaky noises, zerberts, fake coughs, when we call you silly, or when we tell you from across the room that we can see you). - scooting around on your tummy. You almost have the concept of crawling! - Bottles, even though you are a slow eater, your face lights up when you hear me mixing one up. - You love watching me type on the keyboard (you're staring very intensely at my fingers right now) - You love anything that plays music - You love when mommy reads you stories - You love to be rocked and walked around/held - You love exc...

Whirlwind weekend...

Image
This was a pretty crazy weekend for us, so I'm not surprised it flew right by! Friday after Ty got home from work, we just relaxed watching some tv with some good eats and headed to bed at a pretty decent hour since he had to get up early on Saturday and do some work on some job sites before coming home. My folks came and picked up Garett for the night, so we decided after they left to head into town to grab lunch. We decided to hit up a newer place in Orleans called Mucho Burrito. O-M-GOD. This place is amazing. It's the mexican version of subway--so you order your food (Ty started with some shredded beef tacos and went back up for a HUGE burrito after, and I got a salad bowl with chicken which was ahhhh-mazzzinngg . Seriously people, go eat here. The ingredients are so fresh. Mind: blown After we ate our lunch, we decided to go hit a bucket of balls at the driving range. We were pretty sore after hitting all those balls so we headed home to a quick nap (heaven) before ...

Friday June 14

Image
Um, wow. How is it already Friday? It was just Tuesday and I was procrastinating all the cleaning I needed to do. Now today I have to get down to business! Last night, Ty got home around 7 (stupid rain weeks making them fall behind so he has to catch up!), so we had a delicious dinner almost right after we got home. I made baked potatoes, a Greek salad with no dressing (just a bit of sea salt mmm) bruschetta style with some flax seed encrusted wheat thins and some Greek style marinated pork loin chops. So good! We threw on the original Rocky movie, and, surprisingly, Stallone was pretty decent looking in the 70's (I had never seen this movie before). Garett fell asleep around 8:30 though so we followed his lead. It was still bright outside when we went to bed...what is our problem! Haha Today: put away clean laundry and do the last two loads, do the rest of the dishes and get all of Garett's bottles ready to go, get Garett packed, sweep the floors, change our bed sheets, ...

Another First for my little family...

Image
I won't bore you with the details of my day yesterday since it was very uneventful! But when Ty came home, I did force him to open another gift (he hates opening gifts early, but I love it because I am too excited to wait lol). So we're saving his big gift for actual Father's Day (that was the compromise) and he opened my homemade, with love gift :) Here's what unfolded! 12 Month of preplanned dates! Each to be opened (I sealed them so he couldn't peek) on the first of each month. There was a verbal "no excuses" clause. We MUST put this time aside for just us each and every month to do fun things together. A lot of the things are things we have talked about doing for a long time and never get around to, so I can't wait for the rest of the dates!!! It's so easy for time to just fly by now with the baby, plans with friends, family, etc. But you sometimes forget that a marriage also takes work. This time together is crucial :) (P.S I can...

Momma moment...

Taking a breather on the opposite side of the room from Garett lol... I just want to take this moment to say AMEN to prune juice! Not only did it fix Garett's issue in a timely manner but now his poops are perfect (and insanely stinky lol) woohoo!! Sorry tmi :) but if you have ever had a constipated babes, you know how heartbreaking it is to know how much pain their in when they try to squeeze that sucker out. I am so relieved :)   Yesterday I got all the goodies I bought for cousins night and I am SO excited about them!!! Omg. I am hanging out at home I believe today...no mom and baby yoga. My insides are playing some games today so I don't want to risk passing it on...I think it's a bug :( I was so looking forward to it too! Oh well...next week :) I wrapped all my Father's Day gifts this morning (aside from the ones I alreAdy had Tyler open last week haha) Tyler is coming home for lunch today :) Last night after dinner, we were craving something sweet so I...

Tuesday June 11, 2013

Ok what is the deal?? In the last 2 days I've gotten over 100 page views and I can't for the life of me figure out if its by fluke people accidentally stumble on my page or if that many people are reading because I have 0 new followers. Sighs. Anyways today is a day off for Ty so he went to princess auto and bought and entire tool box of new tools since everything was on sale for Father's Day. He's finally throwing out all his mismatchy stuff. He's pretty proud of it. He keeps calling me out to look at it as he unpacks it all lol. Cute. Garett is so cooperative today (sleeping lots lol) so all the dishes are done, all the laundry is folded and put away, dinner is planned and the meat is thawing, we've read 4 story books, played on our tummies, watch cartoons, played in the exersaucer, and all that fun stuff! Yesterday we headed to the docs and she told us to sta giving him diluted prune juice for his constipation woes. So far, no luck. I gave him an ounce ...

Let's play a game of catch-up

I have been forgetting to blog for a few days, but just trying to get out and do things and get used to a life without blogging! We had a wonderful weekend--Friday we had a nice dinner at Rod and Sharon's and headed home around 10:30 and went straight to bed since we were all pooped! Saturday we hung out around the house for a bit, then I headed into town to do some more clothes shopping for Garett, did groceries and cleaned out the fridge/put them away. I made some dinner while Ty headed into work for an hour and then we had our dinner picnic style in the living room while Garett played on his blanket. I convinced Tyler to open just his father's day gifts from Garett (not too hard to do lol). Garett's gift was an assortment of beer glasses, a nice stainless steel martini shaker and a wine aerator with a nice stand and cap. I didn't realise everything I bought from him was drink related--oops! lol. So we decided to take turns having a relaxing bath with a drink--Ty ...

In Life...

People focus on negative things. People complain about insignificant details. People whine when they have the sniffles. People thrive on things they want instead of what they have...and you know what? Things could be worse, people. Having a child has changed my perception on everything. I used to sweat the small stuff, now I couldn't be bothered .Here's how I choose to embrace life in the small ways... ...I choose to hug and kiss my husband when he comes home late after a long day of work instead of hounding him about the extra hours he's away making a good living to take care of us. Pick the hill you want to die on, folks. There's worse things in life then a husband that works hard, that leaves a pair of socks on the floor or drinks the last bottle of water. ...I choose to eat at home, not because it's cheaper, but because food cooked from home does the soul good. Sitting down to a meal with your loved ones and not having to shout against the loud surroundings ...

Summer Favourites

Summer is my absolute favourite time of the year. I day dream about it in the winter and rush it in the spring by dressing in summer attire too early (which means I usually get a cold around that time of year). Some of my favourite things about summer: 1) My backyard--when it's sunny, opening the umbrella, bringing out all the decorations I keep on the table, etc and the badminton net is up, hammock, firepit area, horeshoe pits, and when the cooler is full--I just LOVE it. It's like a little vacation out there. 2) The smell in the air when people are mowing their lawns--LOVE it. 3) The nostalgic feeling when you smell a bonfire in the air or hear fireworks being set off in the distance (and the thrill you get if you can see these fire works, like a private showing!). 4) Walks at dusk 5) The feeling of flip flops between your toes 6) Summer dresses 7) Date nights on patios 8) Drive-in's 9) The first ice cream cone of the summer 10)When the rain washes d...

Monday Again

So it's Monday--and Monday is almost over even, things are WAY more hectic around my home now. Garett has learned to roll from his back to tummy in the last few days, and let me tell you, he LOVES to do this and does it everytime he's on his back. He can't crawl, but he certainly has the concept down pat and scoots all over the place, meaning, unless he's locked into his bouncer or in his exersaucer, all H-E-double hockey sticks can break loose in a few moments if I dare to blink. He also hates napping, loves songs, story books, cuddles, playing with his toys, eating, standing and jumping around (with assistance)...which I LOVE, but really--I can't even wash dishes during the day that's how much attention he demands lol. He's definitely an intelligent little guy. ( I love him hehe). Friday night Ty and I stayed in and tried to clean the house a bit (fail). Ended up going to bed early after gorging on veggies and dip and a few cheese curds. Saturday Ty ...
