Long Weekend Recap
I am still coming off the high of the last weekend of the summer. It is so nice to be off, and have no crazy hectic plans to tend to . We really just went with the flow this weekend, and I so enjoyed it!
On Friday night, I ended my long week with a 5pm weight training class, went home, we had some leftovers for dinner and watched some tv. We all took some baths, I did some laundry, and we tidied up a bit around the house.
Saturday we slept in until 7:20 or so, and Tyler headed into work to fix some drainage problems and whatnot, and was home pretty early. We went out for some shopping--grocery store, lcbo, Rona. We had a quick lunch, played outside a bit and relaxed A LOT. I made some pies later in the day, and Ty went out for lobsters and to the slaughter house to buy a bunch of big filet mignons. It was a pretty early to bed evening :)
Sunday we slept in until 7:30 again, and Ty headed out to cut a job a few minutes away while Garett and I did laundry, played and had breakfast. Ty was home pretty fast, and he played with G while I tidied up the rest of the house and got the table set, and stuff I needed prepped (cut the veggies up and whatnot). We were having our home blessed (yep, after being there a year this coming Thursday, lol), and since the priest is a close family friend, we wanted to have a nice dinner so we could all over indulge and relax/visit. My parents came as well, which is always nice :) They came for around 3, so we had some cheese (cheddar and boursin) with some crackers and Kolbassa to tie us over a bit (I hadn't eaten at all, and everyone else was pretty hungry as well I think lol).
I parboiled the little red potatoes first, and got them smashed down and seasoned/preheated the oven. Then I boiled the green beans and put them aside to finish off in a frying pan after, mixed the salads, and started on the caramelizing of the onions and mushrooms. I managed a bit of visiting in between, which was great :) Tyler did up the steaks on a cast iron pan, and steamed their lobsters to warm them through again. Then we ate. I don't think I even tasted the food I was so hungry, but it was nice to just sit together and eat!
Afterwards, we took a little rest and blessed the house--He included G in the blessing of the water, which was so sweet. We went around the house blessing each room, and Garett was SO taken with this process. I think he made Father do every room twice, and then re-enacted it later with regular water. Pretty cute. We visited for a little while after, and Garett adopted a new best friend (Father). We sat down shortly after for some homemade coconut cream pie (yum), and finally it was time to say goodbye. We took the leftover holy water out for Garett to put in the garden out front, and we said goodbye from the roadside. We were all pretty tuckered out from food and being lazy, so we laid in bed and watched some tv before all falling asleep before 9.
Monday Tyler was playing games at the store with some friends. G and I were going to go hang out too since the store was closed to the public, but we decided to have a three hour nap instead, apparently LOL. We played a bit in the morning, read some books, washed some toys. Then he fell asleep for three hours and really cut the day up. So when he woke up, we had some lunch, and we made some homemade play dough (I made yellow and he made blue, since BLUE is his favourite, lol). He mixed it all up, and got his blue food colouring all over himself lol. This playdough kept him occupied for like an hour. He loved it.More than his regular play dough, probably because HE made it, I guess lol. After that, we put it away and he took a bath (daddy came home while he was in the tub). I made some dinner while daddy finished off the bath, we ate and watched Big Hero 6, and G ran around for the rest of his waking hours pretending to be the fire-breathing hero in the movie lol I put away the last load of laundry, and laid out clothes for myself and G, had a shower, and off to bed for all of us! G went right to sleep, and we fell asleep watching an episode of parks and rec around 10:30. I stayed up a little longer just to make sure the storm wasn't going to get worse, and fell asleep to the rain and thunder.
It was hard getting up today, but we were all ready to get back to normal, I think. The drive in wasn't bad either, which worked out well :)
Hope everyone had a great long weekend, and enjoy the nice incoming warm weather :) Now to start enjoying birthday festivities/celebrate our anniversary finally lol.
Happy Tuesday!

Mmm steak and lobster :)
ReplyDeleteHomemade playdough is the best. We used to make it all the time when we were kids. Glad the weekend was a good one :)
