~weekend recap~
This weekend was so crummy weather wise, but we all tried to make the most of it!
Friday night we headed to the Russell Fair--Garett was too small for most of the rides, and apparently this year is the worst one yet (from the words of some people we know and ran into). There wasn't very many vendors (we literally got no candy apples or cotton candy....at a fair. seriously???) There also wasn't many rides or games. So luckily Garett didn't "get" it yet, so we walked around for a bit, the boys stuffed their faces with poutine, corn dogs, deep fried pickles and pizza rolls. I decided to pass up the opportunity for a stomach ache and ate a few of Garett's fries and call it a night.
We bought TWO whole tickets for "rides" because Garett told us he wanted to go in the Mickey mouse bouncy castle. When we got there, there were two little girls jumping and he was too shy to go in, so he sat in the little chairs and waited for them to get out. They got out and he went right in, and then two brothers came and jumped in, he immediately came over to the net with a sad look and refused to bounce anymore. I wasn't about to force him to be social, so he got out. Poor kid--shy like I was :( It's a curse, and I don't know how to help him come out of his shell other than to show him how much fun things are and try and build up his confidence more.
We walked over to the little miniature pony rides and yes he wanted to ride them. there was a brown and a white one, and he insisted on switching back and forth between them. He cried when we left them--I think he could have had fun there for hours.
We went over to the little petting zoo, and bought some food to give to the goats, llamas, al pacas, ducks, horse, etc. He was a little timid at first (he was like this at the zoo and other places before) and then warms up to them once he sees they're not biting daddy lol
Went and washed our hands and went to scope out the firetruck, and watch the firemen soak the riding field, and watched the plow till the ground after. He loved this part lol. Stayed to watch some of the horseback riders, peeked in at the band warming up for the evening, and headed out for home. We stopped at DQ for a little treat and went home, and almost right to bed.
Saturday we were up bright and early around 6:30. Tyler headed into town for a bit to finish up a job, and Garett went down for his nap around 11:30. He was napping when I left. I went over to Shannon's and we chatted a bit before heading out.
We went to the spa around 4 and didn't wait long before they brought us back. I picked a colour that I thought looked kind of like dark magenta, and Shannon got a pastel green colour. I like my colour, but it seems more red now that it's on--like a black red. weird! It's not what I wanted, but it's nice anyways. We enjoyed a glass of wine while we had our feet pampered a bit.
Since I was good the night before , I decided to have whatever I wanted at dinner. I ordered some sliders and sweet potato fries with a Caesar. It was good! Then we split a 1/2 litre of wine. Obviously I wasn't driving at this point, so we had shannons sister in law and brother and law come over since they live close by. She drove my car with me and Shannon in it and parked it at shannons house for us and they left for the night (so sweet of them). We hung out and had a drink and decided to head out to the pub up the hill (Royal Oak on St Joseph). There was a solo act playing and a drink sale going on. He played very depressing/slow music, and didn't know anything fast, but he was good!
I stayed over at Shannon's and headed home around 11 the next day. When I got home around 11:30, Garett was napping, and Tyler and I also laid down for a 2 hour nap. The rest of the day was lazy--baths all around, ate some toast, and fed Garett, and watched movies. We were all in bed by 8:45.
It was so hard to wake up this morning. I am finding when it's already getting darker in the mornings, and the overcast skies added to that, it feels like I'm waking up at 3 AM and it's hard to find the energy to get to work. I am happy to hear this week will be nice, and the sun has finally come through today. Morale booster! I decided to cut back to three nights this week at the gym (back to four nights next week), and am doing my rebounder class on Tuesday, a circuit class on Weds and a weights class on Thursday (at 8 pm--that's like my bedtime! lol). Friday night Tyler is taking me out for my birthday early since he will be out of town on my birthday weekend.
After work we are going to get ready, and drop G off at my M-I-Ls and go eat some fresh seafood at Vineyards (Jonesing for their crab cakes, and he's all in for the buck-a-shuck oysters on Friday nights lol), and heading to see one of our favourite comedians at Yuk Yuk's. I believe we are getting a hotel for the evening (if there's any free still lol), and picking G up in the morning to head home before his nap!
I think it will be a nice night, and a good chance for us to reconnect. He has been working so much lately, and I am finding that we really need the time alone to reconnect on a relationship level, instead of always being "mommy and daddy", we get to be "Tyler and Amy" for the night. Does anyone else feel like they get into a relationship funk if you haven't had time alone to do "couple" things in a long time? I can always tell when it's time for us to do this, because we start getting short with each other over stupid things, we go to sleep at different times, we wake up at different times, and it feels like days go by where we can only manage to talk for 10 minutes a night before we pass out. Bring on the date night.
Hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. Happy Monday? Is that a thing?
