The thaw
We had a pretty laid back weekend over here , which is nice. Tyler is wrapping up his season of concrete hopefully this week (or maybe early next) , so we are really looking forward to some down time where we will have the energy to do more again, and don't have to say no to everything that comes up because he's working or tired.
Friday night we decided to rearrange the basement a bit. We went through the last of the boxes. Threw a bunch of stuff out , and are setting up an area for the weight bench and kettle bells so we can start our new routine :)
We were all in bed pretty early after some quesadillas I made for dinner and baths.
Saturday Tyler had a quick job to seal in the morning, came home and took g out for a while so I could get ready in peace while Keira napped.
Amber came over around 4:15 to partake in a glass of wine. We were going to cab over to dinner, but Shan surprised us by driving to my place to chat for a bit and brought us over instead ! So sweet.
We went to the Waverley East. Ty and I had been there for lunch before Keira was born and the food was really yummy and we liked the atmosphere , so I thought we should give it a try for the dinner service, and I like that it also stays open later than other places, and to top it off a DJ on Friday and sat nights starting at 10.
Dinner was fun. It was nice to catch up with my OG's (haha--original girls ) and laugh! Amber and I split a yummy Reisling over dinner.
When doll and Shan left around 8:30, Amber and I stayed and split a bottle of Rose.
Then we moved onto presecco. Our fav of the night :)

We stayed until close--one of tylers friends came by (he's a regular there) to say hello, bought us a drink and made sure we got home safely, so didn't have to cab home either, which was nice ! It was so fun to just hang out and dance and not worry about bottles and diapers and night feedings for a few hours!
With the time change , we got to be out for an extra hour, and Garett woke up at 6:15 on Sunday. So I was pretty tired after only going to bed at 3. So I took him back to his room so he wouldn't wake Keira and we cuddled in his bed for a while and read some stories. When Keira woke up, ty fed her and then took Garett and I slept in his bed until 10 and it was glorious! Lol
Got up and we had some food, ty and g went to the grocery store quickly and we just played around the house all day.

I started my planning for Keira's purées. I'm going to start right after Christmas on making them and plan to store it like this this time around :)
Around 7 everyone was pooped so I went down to put a load of laundry in and grab a bag of frozen breast milk from the stand up deep freezer to make bottles. We watched the movie "Mr. Right" after the kids went to bed. It started so funny and good like a romantic comedy. But then went off the rails and turned into like a hit man movie ? And I hate that. So I thought it was dumb.
I went down to the basement today around 12 and Lo and behold , I see the deep freezer door wide open. In denial, I ran over and touched the bags thinking maybe it just happened and they're frozen. All room temp. All garbage. 2-3 months worth of milk, of sleepless nights , of engorgement and leaking through my shirts and blocked milk ducts and time away from Garett to pump staring me in the face. I slammed it shut and went upstairs. Furious. I don't know what happened. I was the last one in the basement , and I even double checked the door last night so I was 100% certain I closed it. I thought maybe the vibrations from the washing machine shook it open? But it would have to be severe , and that's never happened before. I thought maybe a cat rubbed up on the door? But it takes quite a tug to open it. So I literally have no idea. No one and nothing to blame. Ugh.
I was ok until Tyler called me and I had to say it out loud. "It's gone. It's all gone. Garbage. " he had no idea what to say to me other than sorry. There's just nothing you can say to someone that this happened to lol.
Oh well. Life goes on. Formula feeding commences tonight when her last 4 bottles of breast milk are gone :( hope she transitions well!
So we decided to wear a pretty, summery outfit to make mommy smile :)
(Can't find the exact one--I just bought it a few weeks ago but must be sold out--but there's this one still )
Head and from toys r us baby section.
So Keira napped the morning and afternoon away, I managed to watch bad moms this morning (hilarious) and then I watched "Mike and Dave need wedding dates" and I already want to watch it again. Def one of my new comedy favs.
I did a load of dishes and tidied up my room a bit. I took some recycling out to the garage. My house looks like a literal tornado swept through right now. I need a good solid few hours to tidy up (and go through toys to donate).
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Happy Monday!!
aww that sucks about the milk....no one truly understands the devastation other than a breastfeeding/pumping mama!
ReplyDeleteUgh reading about it makes my heart hurt. I remember all the pumping I did with Rylie and I would probably just cry if this ever happened to me! I hope K adjusts well to the formula!
