Weekend Recap

This was a fishing derby weekend, so the kids and I made our own fun for a few days.

On Thursday, Tyler left in the early afternoon, so I grabbed the kids (I was running late, as usual) and we stopped for some McDonalds for the kids on the way home. We didn't get home until shortly before 6. By the time they finished eating, did baths and bedtime routine, it was off to bed.

Keira actually slept solidly through the night for the first time in what feels like forever lol.

Friday I placed a grocery order, left a bit early to get it and grabbed the kids. We had coconut milk ice cream sandwiches while we played, and ordered supper in. I consumed a bit of wine and it was a nice relaxed evening. The kids were angels for me. Another night of Keira sleeping soundly through the night (hmmm). I stayed up late watching "Are You The One" (trash tv)

Saturday morning we were up bright and early and headed to visit my family in Cornwall. We had a nice morning of visiting and playing ,and headed out around 1:30. Keira slept for a bit in the car, and so we parked and did nothing for 10-15 minutes when we got home so Keira could get a full hours sleep.

The kids were CRAZY this night. Chock it up to them being exhausted from the day/lack of rest, and to being excited for daddy to come home on Sunday!

Tyler got home around 10 on Sunday, and we played outside a lot with the kids. It was so warm, we washed the cars and the kids ran around in their swimsuits, playing in the muddy puddle I made with the hose, and playing in the water (this is what I have been waiting for!!!)

The kids came in when it was noon, and time for lunch. They chowed down and then Keira went for her nap, Tyler went for a nap, and G went to play City of Heroes, while I started a small basement demo.

The previous owners had built a random desk area in one corner of the basement, which I found to be a waste/a catch-all for random stuff. I have a few different ideas of what to do in the space, but for now, I am just happy the walls are empty. Just have to patch it a bit (they had also glued the wood pieces to the wall), and paint it.

I also removed the homemade brown shelves on the left they had on the wall also, and am figuring out a plan for that wall since it's quite a stretch of wall there. There is still an entire set of cabinets and countertop on the other side of the basement I need to remove also, but it's too heavy for me to do myself-I could barely lift a 6 foot stretch off of the desktop (it must have been 60lbs!). Wasn't expecting that lol.

We made some dinner (spaghetti and meatballs for the kids and we had random food), had baths and relaxed. We only got one episode of Game of Thrones in last night before we went to bed.

The mosquitoes are so bad at our house, we ordered a huge mosquito trap that covers up to an acre. So we will have it on the one side of the house, upwind from where the kids play. It's horrible that the kids can't even play outside without getting covered in bites. it runs on propane, and emits carbon dioxide to attract the mosquitoes/kills them and then you just empty the basket every few days :) Ugly, but it's supposed to work--any improvement will help!

Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Monday :)
