FRIDAY October 5, 2012

OMG I am SO excited it's finally Friday! And on the eve of a long weekend! woo!

Last night I got home around 4:30 and called Tyler--the kitchen was in a state of disarray with clean dishes to be put away, I needed to clean the stovetop, scrub down the counter and wipe down the cupboard doors (ok, so I exaggerated when I said dissaray..but it needed to just be cleaned in general lol). So instead of adding to it and making a bigger mess, we decided to get Chinese--so I called ahead to order it while Tyler was on his way into town to just pick it up (since they don't deliver). By the time he got home with the food, the kitchen was all cleaned up so we made up our plates and went downstairs and watched tv for a half hour or so (M*A*S*H!!! lol). When that was done, Ty went off to do some paperwork on his accounting software, and I went upstairs and did up my first batch of pie crusts. I was going to make only pumpkin pies, which would have meant that's all the crust I would have needed, but instead, I decided apple and pumpkin. So as the dough was chilling I made up my apple pie filling (with a tiny bit of extra for Ty to eat lol) and finally got it stuck in the oven. I hate when recipes are so simple but take SO long to prepare..I hate peeling anything--carrots, potatoes..APPLES lol. But it eventually got gone and sat out to cool for a while before I wrapped it up. Tonight I'll do my pumpkin pie since it's a much quicker process! Anyways, here's a picture of the pie! (sorry for the poor quality, I took it with my cell phone!)

I also have a bunch of laundry to do tonight and want to get the house swept and mopped before we head out on Saturday--I hate leaving a dirty house and coming home to it when I'm feeling lazy (and full lol).
Saturday morning, it's up early to get ready and head to Cornwall. Ty has to go to my aunt and uncles house and do something for their slab he poured for their big new garage and then pick up the baby furniture. I know the boys wanted to all go golfing and it seems like it'll be a nice day for it, so hopefully it doesn't take too long and they can all go together to get at least 9 holes in before dinner!
I'm not a very big fan of turkey (especially with my aversion to poultry still waiting on the sidelines to upset my stomach lol) but really looking forward to ham, stuffing and mashed potatoes and soft buns! AND pie! lol
Sunday, we are heading over to the in-laws house for their Thanksgiving dinner. We may take separate cars there since I get tired really early now and if they get into card game (which I don't play) I may head home instead of napping on the couch. Thank god for long weekends because without it, weekends like this with all the running around would be tiring! I can only imagine how tiring it is for the people actually hosting it and having kids running around! lol...we'll see soon enough! haha
I suppose since I will not have a chance to write this weekend I will count my blessings :) This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for many things..

1) Having loving, caring, nurturing, generous and supportive families
2) Having a wonderful marriage and a husband who fully understands me
3) A roof over our head in a home we picked out together and made into our own together.
4) Having money in the bank and good jobs that help us live the life the way we've grown accustomed to.
5) The food we have in abundance--some people are not fortunate enough to know where their next meal will come from.
6) A growing family--some people are not able to expand their families no matter how much they want it. We are so blessed to be expecting and to watch our family grow.
7) Having great friends
8) I am thankful for our three pets--they truly know unconditional love--or at least to the extent of what their brains and hearts will allow them to feel :)
9) The health and happiness of ourselves and everyone we care about and love
10) To have the ability to set goals and have dreams and it be realistic to expect to achieve them
There are so many more little things but I think those 10 touched on all the major things in life.
I was sitting thinking the other day about how really lucky (for real) Ty and I are. And even though there's always some minor set backs to things (because such is life), we always manage to come out of it ahead of the game somehow. Thank God for that!!

Looks like it's going to be a pretty slow day in here today--I have a meeting later this afternoon that will hopefully pass the afternoon quicker than it did yesterday, but until then...I'll have to find something to occupy me lol.

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday and enjoy your long weekend/ THANKSGIVING!!! :)
