2015 "Bucket List"

While I understand what true the meaning of a bucket list, I have chose to make a bucket list for 2015--so that when 2015 kicks the bucket (and hopefully I don't), I will have many more experiences crossed off my lift bucket list :) So here we go! - Go to a new far away place (this will be our next Caribbean trip) - Go to the drive in. I have never been, I want to go. - Make my own sushi - Create a dish that is totally original--a signature dish - Eat more fruits and veggies everyday - Clean out my closet and only keep/buy items that make me feel great - Finish decorating our house - Pay for a stranger's dinner at the restaurant, behind me in line--wherever - Play tourist in my own city for a day - Take Garett to something that will make him say "wow" (maybe pumpkin inferno, alight at night at upper Canada village, to see the real life Thomas--just ideas :) ) - Be more frugal--shop around for deals instead of buying it full price as soon as I want whatever. ...

Cookies for Breakfast kind of day

I hit the snooze button 3 times this morning. I got to work still earlier than expected since traffic is pretty well non-existent this week for the commute in. Garett's cough was much better last night, though it's still very obvious he has one, but he fell asleep around 8 last night, and only coughed for a short period around 1:30 this morning and went back to sleep. I guess he napped for 3 hours at daycare yesterday--he's catching up on what he needs most :) Good boy. Our daycare provider only has him this week, so she is acting like his own personal nurse, getting him back to healthy :) She is so amazing (I know I say this weekly, but she's seriously my angel on earth). I am taking off from work at 12:30 today. I welcome the few hours off--I find 4 day weeks go so slow, I need more of a break. We have no real plans for New Years. We may have one couple over to ring the new year in with, but I'm not sure if it will pan out. We have a lot of stuff to get done...

Another one bites the dust

Well, that's all she wrote for Christmas 2014, folks! I really hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas full of food and family and presents and laughter. Hope the Claus himself was good to you all! We had a wonderfully hectic Christmas, like I'm sure the rest of the world did. Lugging gifts to and from places, staying up past our bedtime two nights in row, and lots of hugs and "thank you's". The only thing that could have made Christmas better, is if G didn't come down with a new virus. I mean, the poor kid wasn't even at Daycare and STILL started up. On boxing day it started--fever, coughing, throwing up a bit that night...then when we got up on the 27th, we didn't like how he was breathing (we both agreed it looked labored, though he wasn't really affected by it). We got his fever down and were off to Cheo. We spent just over 3 hours there and were assured his breathing wasn't really laboured, but a fever can cause it to look that way. She...

It's the most hectic time of the year

We had a busy morning over here colouring and snipping away. We put up the last of the décor for the kids Christmas party tomorrow, and I must say the three of us that did it, did an awesome job. Endless ornaments and coffee filter snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, wrapped EVERY cubicle like a present, 100 carolling snowmen made out of construction paper, scenes of snow hills and Disney characters tobogganing, tons of paper link garland, bows, etc...looks so Christmas-y :) Taking it down will be NO FUN haha We are off to the spa for an hour or so of pampering...they have enough chairs and estheticians to do all six of us at once so we can chat :) Very friendly and accommodating staff here: http://www.ezcapespa.com/ We are all getting the Warm "Happy Feet" Pedicure: The feet are soaked, the nails are reshaped, the cuticles are groomed and conditioned and the calluses are smoothed. The feet are treated to a sugar scrub with cinnamon , a tangerine warming mask is ap...

Weekend Recap*

Well, it was a busy weekend, but we made it through! Friday I stayed home to nurse myself back to health. I somewhat succeeded--I napped a bit and cleaned the house a bit (which makes me feel better) while G was at daycare. He is doing really well so I try not to expose him to me too much when I'm still not feeling 100%. I had decided I was going to attend Tyler's cousins 40th party that night at Vetta Osteria. I was looking forward to the night away. http://vettaosteria.com/ So I took my time getting ready that day and listening to my body. If I started feeling not great, I would stay in. But I was feeling pretty good, so around 5 I headed over to my friend Amber's place, we ordered pizza, had a drink and chatted a bit before we cabbed over to the restaurant/bar. There were quite a few people, but not as much family as I was expecting, which is fine. It was still a nice night out! Around 11 we headed over to the Royal Oak across the street--quieter and did some more...

No Voice Thursday

Well, it's been a few days coming. Forcing my voice when it was already feeling weak. I won't be the life of the party today, that's for sure. You can barely hear my voice when I talk. I hate when this happens...it's like girls weekend when I lost my voice a day into the trip and couldn't talk the rest of the time-- SUCKS. This girl LOVES talking. (obviously #Ishouldjustshutup) While I overdose on cough drops trying to get my throat soothed, I am basing how the rest of my day goes : If I get my voice back vs. if I don't. If I get my voice back, there is a lunch that one of the teams are having here that I really do want to go to--but they are fun and loud people, and if I can't talk...well...that's just torturous then! They are heading out at 1:00 for the afternoon to a place in Little Italy that Ty and I frequent. :( If I don't get my voice back, I will head out a little early to grab groceries...oh joy. But in all seriousness, we need them. T...

Seasonal survey

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I LOVE the idea of eggnog, but I actually hate it more than anything. Hot chocolate definitely wins this. 2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa definitely wraps the presents! How us it any fun to see what you got in two seconds? Half the fun is unwrapping! 3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? If I had it my way, only white lights everywhere. Soft white though, not ugly blue-ish LED's. Ty loves coloured. So around the trim of the house he does coloured. I put up my garland, wreath and little outside trees white, our inside tree has both. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? No. It's stupid to make a hole in the celing/door frame for that lol 5. When do you hang your decorations up? Usually the weekend after Remembrance Day. I love the Christmas season. 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Hands down: stuffing  7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Wanting to rush home from church, anticipating bedtime so ...

Weekend Recap

After a long week, we were so looking forward to the weekend. We had had our date night planned for the previous weekend, but it was too much sadness for the family to continue on as planned, so we cancelled the hotel room, the dinner reservations and threw out our show tickets and decided to post-pone. On Friday night we decided let's just give it a whirl on Saturday and see how it works out. With it being G's first night at Ty's moms, we wanted to stay nice and close --plus G had a fever for 24 hours on Thursday, which was zero fun. But was feeling 100% better by Friday and my cough has even subsided 90%. Finally. So Friday night we ordered some pizza and watched a Christmas movie together, lounged around and didn't do a whole lot! We shared a Somersby when G went to bed (you know you're old when you can't finish a can of cider before passing out). Saturday we slept in until 8 and had a nice breakfast together. We packed everything up that G needed and t...

Short Day

Today is a short day at work I would rather not have. Off to the wake this afternoon--and hoping to pop into the doctors on the way to get this cough checked out. I resent putting on a dress on days like this. I resent that I got a compliment on it as soon as I got to work because that person didn't know why I put it on this morning. Last night was nice time all together as a family. Ty was already home when G and I walked in. So, while G had his "lay down time" in his crib, we emptied the dishwasher together, put away some more laundry and switched it over to put another load in, and then we fed G some leftover tuna casserole(his new favorite I think), while I cooked some chicken enchiladas for us (I got a little carried away with the chili powder, so I thought it would be too spicy for G, which turns out it wasn't and he chowed down on some of that too). We watched some tv together, as G was in a cuddly/lounging type of mood--must have been pooped from daycare...

It's a chocolate at 10AM kind of day

Last night was a tuna casserole (major comfort food for us) kind of night. G devoured, Ty devoured, I had a little bit and a giant glass of milk--Can't get enough milk lately. Mmm. We played for a while, read some stories, did the bath and it was right to bed for that kid. No messing around. So I decided to finish off Season 3 of Pretty Little Liars...it's getting really good finally. Now I'm hooked. I really wanted to watch episode one of season 4, but it was already after 10 and I was exhausted...so off to bed I went. Ty had some paperwork to catch up on, so he was up right as I was passing out. Today I stopped in for a frittata from the place in my building at 7 AM. I was already ravenous. Followed by having to head out to another building for the most pointless meeting in the history of life. An hour wasted. I came back and am starving. No one wants to go for lunch yet--it's 10:44. I want to go here and get a Panini and a delicious dessert since it's only a ...

Longest weekend ever recap

Thursday and Friday I was away from the office. I got my grocery shopping done, a trip to Costco and brought food to Ty on the store on Thursday. Once that was all done, I went home, cleaned the fridge and put all the food away, caught up on putting laundry away and emptied the dishwasher before picking up my Munchkin. Friday was a bit of a different story, as I was starting to develop a really sore throat and an annoying cough. G was home from daycare that day so we just laid low, watched some movies, cleaned up a bit, changed bedsheets and made up the spare room bed with the new set :) Saturday we had booked a hotel, made dinner reservations at our favourite place, bought tickets to go see our favourite comedian (the one we hung out with last time he was in town for Ty's 29th birthday). It was a date night we were long overdue for, and it was supposed to be the first night Tyler's mom and stepdad had Garett overnight. We had just cooked up some breakfast for us all, sat...

I knew it ..

As soon as my alarm went off, I knew it was one of those days I should have just rolled over and went back to sleep. Instead, I throw off the big warm duvet, grab my clothes for the day, stub my toe on the footboard *insert silent curse words* and get ready for the day. I say to myself "you know what Wednesday? I've already had enough of you" and opt to not wear a stitch of makeup (and vow to give the evil eye to anyone that says I look "tired"--though I've actually received what I believe to be compliments from two people telling me how young I look). I look out the window--yep, I better start the car to melt some of that garbage off my windshield (though upon assessment of the actual weather outside, it was like summertime compared to yesterday)..I had to do minimal scraping or brushing, which was nice. I realise I forgot to pack my lunch (but remembered to pack tylers haha) , so I said "forget it" to myself and went out the door...I did sc...

Weekend Recap

Image
I am currently yawning my face off--I got plenty of sleep this weekend, but there was so much running around, I am just pooped. It was VERY tempting to stay home today. But, here I am--dedication at its best ;) Friday was a fast day--I don't know where the time went, but it just flew right on by. When I hunker down to catch up on work, it goes really fast :) Tyler was coming home earlier than usual, and I decided Friday I wasn't going to cook..so we ordered Chinese food, had a Somersby, watched G play and put on a Christmas movie. Soon enough it was bath time for the boy, and straight to bed. He was very tired on Friday. Saturday we were up fairly early (7 I think) and cleaned up a bit around the house--G went down for his nap early and I was thrilled. While he napped, I loaded up some toys, diapers, pjs, food for G and when he got up, I got him dressed and into town we went. Last year we went to St. Laurent to see Santa for pictures, this year we went to Place D'orl...
