Weekend Recap
After a long week, we were so looking forward to the weekend. We had had our date night planned for the previous weekend, but it was too much sadness for the family to continue on as planned, so we cancelled the hotel room, the dinner reservations and threw out our show tickets and decided to post-pone. On Friday night we decided let's just give it a whirl on Saturday and see how it works out.
With it being G's first night at Ty's moms, we wanted to stay nice and close --plus G had a fever for 24 hours on Thursday, which was zero fun. But was feeling 100% better by Friday and my cough has even subsided 90%. Finally.
So Friday night we ordered some pizza and watched a Christmas movie together, lounged around and didn't do a whole lot! We shared a Somersby when G went to bed (you know you're old when you can't finish a can of cider before passing out).
Saturday we slept in until 8 and had a nice breakfast together. We packed everything up that G needed and that we needed and played for a while before his nap. Once he was up, he ate some lunch and we headed out around 3:30.
We had a short visit when we got to my mother in laws and headed out around 5. We hit up our favourite wine/beer bar/restaurant called Vineyards in the market. Got some new wine recommendations for ourselves, and gorged on delicious food. We weren't starving, so we just decided to split some appetizers to start --Brushetta and Spicy Crab cakes. I tasted the crab cake and it was the best one I have ever had in my life. I ordered another plate of them instead of a main lol (in my defense, there is only 2 cakes in an order :)). Tyler opted for oysters--he ate 16 of them!
Around 9, we headed over to another of our go-to spots. The Highlander Pub. We tried some new fancy drinks and shared an order of brie with caramelized onions, served with naan bread and their chicken twister things. We headed out to our friends Rod and Sharon's for the evening around 10:30. We visited until about 12:45 and headed to bed.
I haven't slept in that long in a long time. We didn't get up until 9:45! I didn't even know it was possible to sleep that much haha We headed to a restaurant (Roger's) at Trainyards for a big breakfast, and headed back over to get my boy. He did so good :) He went to bed a little later than I predicted he would (but I knew it would be harder to get to sleep in a new place). He slept the whole night once he went down and was having a little snack when we got there. What a good little man.
Afterwards, we went home and he napped for 4 hours while Ty headed in to his cousins day thing in Barrhaven. I was supposed to go, but I didn't want G to have to nap at my mother in laws if she was already tired. So I sent the massive amount of Havarti I bought so he could take part in the gourmet grilled cheese bar. (aka heaven for him).
I was still not super hungry, so I just ate peanut butter and jam for supper :) G grabbed the last few bites of my toast, so I guess he's had peanut butter now! haha
I wasn't sure how he would sleep last night with 4 hour nap having happened that afternoon, but by about 9 he was in bed sound asleep and slept all night with no problems. Good boy :)
I am having the hardest time getting focused this morning. I had a two hour nap while G was napping yesterday, and woke up wide awake at like 4:50 this morning and couldn't fall back asleep...this is why I don't nap.
Should be a really busy week at work as people work to catch up before they take their Christmas holidays. I am here over the holidays (aside from the stat days) since G still doesn't really understand Christmas. Looking forward to all the fun things coming up :)
Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a good Monday!!
